Let's make a new avatar for TASVideoAgent.
This has been there a long time. The image is from Star Control III. It is compressed heavily to fit into the avatar slot. I think TASVideoAgent should have a unique avatar, not something directly from a game. Clever edits of existing game sprites might work well, though.

Thanks, I had forgotten how dark the game was.
(Funnily, with the original resolution each zombie face is different. Wall textures also look less repetitive with low resolution.)

I believe DOS won't cut it, because there are some awesome Doom mods that require a source port (like Zdoom) and those have little to do with DOS.
Not counting user generated content (which in this case is often much better than the original content!), these are the official ID software publications:
DOOM EP1 (9 levels)
DOOM EP2 (9 levels)
DOOM EP3 (9 levels)
DOOM EP4 (9 levels)
DOOM 2 (32 levels)
FINAL DOOM - TNT: Evilution (32 levels)
FINAL DOOM - The Plutonia Experiment (32 levels)
Ultra-Violence and Nightmare runs for all = 14 runs!
Pacifist and 100% runs for all = 14 runs!
Possibly Tyson category (100% kills using only pistol, fist and chainsaw) = 7 runs?
Total = 35 runs, not counting runs for user generated content. This is already more than there are games for Virtual Boy platform, which has its own section.
I'd say let's have a DOOM section to keep the runs organized. However, what to do with possible Genesis/SNES Doom runs? I guess they should be kept in Genesis/SNES sections?

I recommend Prboom-plus for the most authentic, but highly customizable Doom experience. However, some custom maps may require Zdoom or some other source port. Zdoom introduces many extra features for the original Doom engine, like jumping, sloped terrain, scripting etc. I have very good experiences from both Prboom-plus and Zdoom.
You can get source ports here: http://www.doomworld.com/classicdoom/ports/
Recommended content can be found from the Doomworld's annual Cacowards: http://www.doomworld.com/cacowards/ (There is plenty of high-quality content there!)

If Nintendo takes down charity TAS videos, like those from AGDQ, they don't care about cancer research.
How about including a message in each published TAS: "This video is totally free. It was done by a happy person who probably has no cancer. Please donate to the following cancer research organization. Thank you."
This way every TAS would be a charity event and then anyone who removes a TAS from any site would be a total jerk.

I think those are just fine for showing the run. It is not required that the submitted file has an encode, anyway. Often they don't include encodes at all, only the input file. One of the TASVideos encoder experts is going to make the final encode anyway, so encoding it would be unnecessary double work.

Listening to this Wikipedia article reminds me of Star Control II and Papers, Please. Did you create the audio version for this article? ^__^

This looks really good. I think this is what the encoders should use for the publication.
Speaking of encoding, I believe there are some people who would like to see it encoded with the original Doom resolution and others would prefer the better resolution of Prboom, so maybe do both to satisfy everyone? Personally, I would be okay with just a Prboom encode.
