You need a clean Super Mario World ROM with a header. Checksums:

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can't seem to get the fucking ips file patch to work! And I've searched everywhere for an actual rom, but I can't fucking find it! Ugh... All I do is click on apply IPS patch, select kaizo mario, and then select super mario world. It even says it's succesful! But when I load it in ZSNES, it says "bad rom" Can someone put me out of my misery? -Arie2002, a guy who hopes to play Kaizo

In Super Mario Bros. 2 for Japan you need to beat the game 8 times to unlock world A. However, for my TAS of the game I plan on loading a savestate where the game has been beaten 7 times, so that when it beats it another time, it unlocks world A. So my quesiton is: What variable controls how many times you have beaten the game? (I'm talking about RAM search from Bizhawk) Also, a savestate where the game has been beaten that many times or a hacked version of Super Mario bros. 2 would be highly appreciated aswell! Thanks! Since MarI/O is using BizHawk, and we will get questions about it, this thread is meant to be a catch-all thread for issues. FAQ and Common Problems: Q: Why does the script say, "Loadstate error" constantly? A: This is due to how the script asks for the path. Your savestate should be in the same folder as the BizHawk exe file.
New question: I get an error when I try to load a backup.
LuaInterface.LuaScriptException: C:\Users\User\Desktop\neatEvolve\neatevolve.lua:1054: attempt to index local 'file' (a nil value)
(I think this is the best topic to ask this question?)

It may be due to how LUA references the path to the state. If I remember correctly, it needs to be in the root folder. Your state should be in BizHawk. Not BizHawk\neatEvolve See if that fixes it.
Somehow, making a new savestate fixed it...

So, I've been making TAS's since a week ago using bizhawk, and now I want to try and make a TAS for Super Mario Galaxy 2 (my favorite Mario game). But I saw that bizhawk did not emulate the Wii... and Dolphin Emulator does not have TAStudio... Is there another program/way to make a TAS for the Wii? I don't really want to work with savestates... - Arie
