I've found a "death" that actually saves time! Uploading at the moment. It also has some entertainment value I think. ;) Link to video Here it is. Saves at least 20 seconds, and should give you the body back! :)

Yeah I've read through the SDA thread to make sure I don't spend time rediscovering already known stuff :). I agree about different timing on PC - Solar said my method didn't work for him. I use that method in all my runs! I could never reliably prevent the game over in the baths even with waiting for Farah on the ledge so now I get Farah into the crack by moving the statue, hiding in the trap room next to the baths for a few seconds (which gets her to go into the crack) and then doing your rewind trick to the platform. Even with the wasted time it should still be faster than the old wallrun method and I'm pretty damn reliable on that rewind trick. I didn't actually time whether it's faster than getting up to the ledge and then doing the rewind jump, but I suspect it is. Anyway, you should check out my YT channel if you want to see the any new discoveries. My latest vid shows how to save 20 seconds on the Palace Defense Puzzle using a new glitch. :)

Hey Reaver, good to see you're still interested in the game! About the waiting for Farah part, if you do the jump to the pole like in my routing video, then change to landscape camera (this sometimes helps with Farah, can't hurt at least) you will save a little time getting to the poles and waste a little time where you have to wait anyway: Link to video At 0:25 - Since you have to wait on the other side for a bit you might as well save a little time on the jump.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWi5HvM5Uus this is the fastest single segment run I've seen, exactly 1:39 from gaining control to losing control of the prince. He's at 31:25 for getting the ladder in the zoo. Using the same timing you are at 25:38 or so. Using Uyama's run instead (1:40:29) he's at approximately 30:45 RTA at that point. So it's more like 5 or 6 minutes ahead :). The segmented run can skip the 2 minute cutscene after the king fight, so it's not really an interesting comparison.

Hope you're enjoying your vacation. In the meantime I've found a Hall of Learning skip :D. This, and the realisation that the rewind tricks in the waterfalls section don't actually save time RTA (because you have to hit the save point, die and respawn to progress) means that the route I made is already outdated. I'll make a new one once I've tested a few more things. Link to video

And because you can't really do one without the other, a possible route for kills: 12 First fight 17 King fight 1 Warehouse 2 Daybreak 25 Long fight 5 Hall of Learning (do 1 freeze-kill) = 62 +2 on elevator. =64 (You need 64 retrieves to get 4 power tanks, which allows you to use Power of Haste for the Elevator fight)

A route suggestion for sand clouds and sand use: 1 in Zoo: Cutscene skip, Cage wallrun 1 in Zoo Corridor: Cliffs wallrun, Baths wallrun 1 Above the Baths: 2 jumps in Ancient ruins 1 in Ancient Ruins: Jump to ledge*, kill 2, Drawbridge skip, Ledgewalk at Turning bridge** 1 in A Broken Bridge: Waterfall drop, Reavers clip to savepoint 1 in Waterfalls: Perhaps a drop at ladders, Reservoir skip Full after "What did you call me?" - fight Hall of Learning: Jump over gap or ledgewalk*** Observatory: Load trigger, 1 kill****, Fight skip (corridor wallrun). 1 in Prison escape: Wallrun to button =7 ... And then cutscene skip after elevator. *If Daybreak fight can be skipped completely, don't do ledge jump. ** Test jump. ***Needs testing. **** If possible, from the last guy in HoL. This route only works if you can skip the prison fight, but that seems viable for a TAS. Oh, and you need to use no more than 7 clouds because if you grab #8 you will get another sand tank, which again means you will need to kill more enemies to get Haste.

Don't worry I only figured it out a few days ago! It's under the switch you can see at 0:32 in Satvaras vid, so it's a bit out of the way. Honestly I don't know if that's faster either. I think doing that rewind trick saves about 10 seconds, disregarding the spawn trigger. I guess you'll just have to test the different ways of doing it. FWIW I think the fastest way to hit the spawn is to run up there and do a torpedo attack back the way you came. I PM'ed you my Skype user.

Alright, I think I've found the fastest route for this section. I just wanted to compare the two routes but ended up with a hybrid of the two, because it turns out that doing the cutscene skip allows you to bypass the first enemy spawn in the Zoo! Here's the video, it's heavily edited to show off the route. I don't have the patience or skill to pull that off in a single run :p. Good thing there's TASing. Link to video From the video description: The rewind trick at 1:04 allows you to bypass the cutscene, the load trigger and the enemy spawn trigger. The spawn trigger is separate from the others, however it seems like it's impossible to load the zone without watching the cutscene. This means I have to die on purpose in the end, to load in the rest of the zone. The last clip is a slightly faster way to get on top of the wall for this purpose. A lot of time is lost waiting for Farah to get through the door, which is unfortunate. Again, the load trigger could solve this issue. I'm honestly not sure if this way to do the Zoo is faster than just doing it normally, I think you'll have to try both.

Yeah, I found a cutscene skip for the introduction to the Sultans Zoo (area after Warehouse), but it requires a rewind trick. The cutscene is 13 seconds so it might be worthwhile. I have two routes in mind that both require you to get the wallrun at the top of the warehouse with 3 rewinds, but that shouldn't be a problem. Route 1: After getting to bottom of warehouse, kill an enemy as fast as possible to get to 2 sands, and go back up to the switch and do a rewind trick. Route 2: Get the crate in position, kill 1 enemy, hit the switch and do the cutscene skip with the 2 sands. I'll go test it out right now to see what's fastest.

I have done it, and you can see from UCPro's run that it's possible on GC too (he uses 4 sands but only does 1 trick). I think you pretty much just need to get lucky with the rewind trick though. Edit: It seems I was wrong, at least I can't recreate it. Disregard the above, it seems like number of rewinds matter a lot for wallruns, which is weird because it's not like that for other rewind tricks. You should do it with three sands and make sure to spawn the enemies. I have an interesting route in mind.

You can hit the switch with a vertical rewind trick, but it's a lot easier with a horizontal wallrun from where Satvara is at 0:39. It's possible to open the door before Farah kills herself but I don't remember if it results in her not following through the door or not. You get the sands replenished in an unskippable fight in the next section, I did actually find a cutscene skip before that, which reqiires a rewind trick, but it doesn't save as much time as the 2 in the warehouse.

Yes I was going to mention that the glitch may be PC only. I think that's the most likely explanation.

Thanks for that, it's good to know these things. By the way, I just realised you don't have any sand going into the king fight, so the small skip I had in mind isn't actually relevant. Sorry!

Nice! Too bad about the cutscene, you'll get it eventually. While working on this could yoy do me a favor? I would like to know if inputting walljumps late and early had any effect on the amount of height you gain. Should be pretty easy to see on the palm tree since a small change in height can change your direction completely.

It looks to me like you are high enough there, and just need to be further to the right. I don't really have any suggestions I just know I've managed it.

I will have to explain it more thoroughly then, since it may be a couple of days till I have proper internet. When you first enter the corridor, don't pull the switch just go down the corridor as you normally would after pulling the switch. Climb up, and when you get to the pit before the door (closed since you didn't pull the switch) jump over the spiky pit onto the ledge on the left of it. From here you do a rewind trick with a verical jump like I do in this video: youtube.com/watch?v=5M7ReKX83Lw If you gain enough height on the rewind trick, you can clip through the closed door and jump into the cutscene trigger which is just on the other side of the door.

Alright so I just figured out that you can skip opening the door in the corridor before the king fight. Instead of pulling the switch that activates the traps and opens the door, you just ignore it, and do a rewind trick from the last ledge where you normally wallrun over the round saw trap. Rewind trick: Do a vertical jump from the ledge and rewind back to the highest point twice. If you do it right (get the trick with sufficient height) you can walk right through the door and jump into the cutscene. I would upload a video but I just moved and I only have 3G net.

Good stuff, a few comments: 1) It's faster to roll up the stairs than run, when you can't wallrun (after palace defense activation). 2) I'm pretty sure it's possible to jump onto the platform directly from the palm tree. 3) like Odongong said, you missed a little timesaver. Things will get very interesting from here on.

Here's the Roll Cancel glitch: Link to video Might help you save a few more frames. All you have to do is tap the first person view button while rolling. I couldn't actually replicate your ladder skip though :(.

5 Frames saved by rolling, only bad part about the roll is that you roll forward only(ive been trying to roll towards the door but no dice).
Great! Yeah there's no way to change the direction of the roll, when taking a drop you will roll whatever way you're facing. I actually discovered a way to cancel rolls mid animation, but I didn't think it had any use. I don't know if it works on rolls after drops, I've only done it with normal rolls. I'll upload a vid later of it, it might save a few frames. By the way, on the palm tree jump in the next area it's possible to jump all the way into the spiky area without vaulting over the railing first, if you gain enough height. This should save another second if you get it.

Fantastic job so far. On top of doing the rewind trick closer to the wall which I know you've already managed, you should also roll when you land at 14:10. You do this by holding down the jump button if you didn't know.

That segment is perfect. Only thing I can imagine being slightly faster is wallrunning off the other wall after the bookcase and then jumping twice. I know it's possible but not whether it's faster. The bookcase thing is definitely new by the way, thanks for that.

Looks very good. I tried a bunch of different things in that area with little success. There are too many load triggers for any major skips. A few things: You're not rewinding fast (hold a directional button while rewinding) You might be able to torpedo through the obstacles from one of the benches on the side. You can jump from the second platform in the hole directly into the cutscene. Keep up the good work!

Hey there, I'm dropping in from the SDA thread. I'll be following your progress and will be willing to help out. I believe I'm up to date with pretty much every shortcut and timesaver in the game. Concerning the spawning of enemies, UCPro wrote this on SDA: "EDIT: here is a video showing the manipulation of the enemy spawns in the second wave. Just to point out, doing this saves 3 seconds.....it is 3 seconds faster than the fight i had in my segmented run (both fights had the same level of execution). After killing the last enemy of the first wave, watch where i move the prince too....when i get to that specific spot (anywhere in that general area is ok) i switch to first-person view and face across the room. When i hear the enemies spawn, switch to landscape view and you will be right next to an enemy (100% consistent). " And the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Utj3oUyeg Hope that helps! :)
