Just curious, is anyone planning on doing an updated MST run with a new route getting chus from ganon's castle via deku tree? I'm sorry if it's been answered in a previous post already.

Is it wrong that I didn't watch any part of the actual TAS the first time because I was mesmerized by the inputs?

When I was playing Zelda OoT at my friend's house, during the chicken fetch quest for the bottle, when I put back the last chicken and talked to the girl instead of getting a bottle the screen started flashing white and black and making crackling noises like thunder, the girl started spouting gibberish (I think she was dumping the contents of a random memory address cause I saw my character's name show up at some point). After that it froze and me and my friend were just staring at one another not wanting to even touch the N64. Do I win?

Perhaps the fireballs prevented him from flying like that in the second race? I haven't watched the whole WIP but so far it looks pretty good, I like the use of boosts in Boulder Canyon.

Keep up the great work, this is my favorite project to follow, even though I know it has to be on the back burner I can't wait to see it finished =)

Everything looks great. Any reason why you waited so long for that last boos in the second boss race?
yes, as with most racing games uphills slow you down. taking the uphill shortcut is a very steep hill, and the boost strip from the first race is not there, so it's better to save up two boosts for such a climb. will get to watching tonight, but of course I know I will like it. edit: I want a hovercraft like that for when I go sledding :P is the sidewinding faster? the CPU fighting in the icy room was real fast! some parts looked a teensy sloppy (explaining why it was done so fast), but nothing to redo over. Overall, it's looking way tighter than your first attempts, so this is a keeper. keep up the good work!
Agreed, I finally got a working ROM and there are some things that are fairly unexplainable to me, like why the prioritizing of bananas in some races but going for the silver coins first in others? And some minor route alterations when I feel the same route should be taken every lap assuming it is optimal. Also I suppose the sidewinding makes the hovercraft speed go a teensy bit over 60. Does the rapid-A technique accelerate hovercrafts even more? Also for the first few races (I know you're probably not going to redo at this point), if I recall correctly doesn't using the shield increase your speed a teensy bit? Other than that, you make this game look so easy. This game gave me nightmares (the good kind) when I was little. =) Keep it up!

Holy crap, I guess this is just something that gets easier with time... I wish I could see it though, none of the ROMs I have tried have worked...annoying that I have the real copy of the game but I can't even watch this TAS =/ That being the case can someone youtube the run so far? I love this game so much, I just want to see how the progress is so far. =/

So I'm guessing the discrepancies in Frappe Snowland time with the world record is because you don't have mushrooms right?

those were some good video edits, almost had me believing this, on april fools day. :P
If you watch the timer on the top right hand corner, you can tell they're not video edits since it'd be near impossible to synchronize all the times like that. Besides, every trick shown here aside from the item manipulation is possible on console. Just head over to speeddemosarchive =)

Quick update. I did egg challenge although my kamikaze attempt at the end failed. I do the loopy thing because there is a time after when the eggs are dropped that they cannot be picked up. The CPUs lag me so I can't do the trick at the end of lap 2 of jungle falls as well as usual. Also, when is the finish point for this game? If it is at the space area I will need to do the trophy races which means 16 redundant races that will replicate what has already been shown. Link to run.
I think the space thing would have to be the end, you already got the key in dino domain...you could do it with the Drumstick the second time around to keep things fresh (faster times), and it would probably go faster the second time around (on your end). If you don't it's understandable though.

What's the reverse bottle trick? I've been following this thread for pretty much all its existence and I haven't heard it come up (or else I'm blind).

According to the definition of speed, it is the absolute value of velocity. Speed is a quantity with no direction, velocity is a vector with a direction in 3d space. So yeah, if you wanna get REAL technical about it you could say he had a negative velocity relative to wherever he's facing. But we get your point =P

Guess you'll have to redo Cool Cool Mountain now!
Maybe next TAS around, another case of cool trick discovered far too late in the run. At least it's not as abusable as supersliding.

Meteo requires bombs to get all the meteors, I think.

Here's how I broke the bombchu usage down 0 - in Spirit (just want to make that clear to everyone) 8 - for and getting to Dondongo 1 - for castle moat, although I think it can be done with bombs while Acryte says it can't. Guano will prove it either way when he gets there 1 - For crossing the Valley of Doom at Ganon's castle (I nearly spelled it with two n's there) Complete the armos room by get the jewels, so we can get 20 bombchu's in the next room. Something really funny happened when I met Zelda with all three Spiritual stones. Everything went normally, but then Impa didn't appear so that makes meeting Zelda with all 3 stones trually a pointless excercise. Talon was also still there, but I'm convinced he would still be there even if Zelda was only met with two Spirtual stones. The easiest way to check would be to stop Guano's previous movie when he's backwalking to Lake Hylia and simply visit Lon Lon. So my question is either A: Do we get the bottle at Lake Hyrule going through the usual routing OR B: When the owl drops Link in Kakariko. Do we get the bottle via cucco collection, although the collecting could probally be done a lot quicker than we think. The one important factor would be banking on it still being daytime. Isn't it always noon after Jabu?, because a deathwarp is required because King Zora still needs to be bypassed which'll take forever via the hovering strategy. I really couldn't say if we'll be in Kakariko during the day which means if thats the case then we have to Show the bottle to King Zora so he can shift his ass along and remove the contents from the bottle.
I feel like getting the bottle in Hylia would be faster, because of all the various hoops one has to jump through to get the bottle any other way, but I'll admit it's just a feeling...

The game makes a lot of bizarre assumptions, although it certainly is a whole lot of backtracking if it doesn't work...and I loved seeing the moat jump on the last one =/

Definitely a cool trick. Is this feasible in a run? I don't suppose it would be considering you need to get a bean plant, hover boots, nayru's love, etc before hand...
