I didn't say never do anything... I'm just talking about people who aren't directly in the spotlight, but have a good potential... people like Hanzou, or AnS (who both have published movies), or jimsfriend etc.

I'd like to know who people would vote for as most promising TASer. Someone who hasn't made a (impressive) movie yet, but has great skill.

I'd say awards are fine, but keep it to topics in the awards forum, instead of pictures showing up at forum posts.

I think a "everything gets accepted if it has some kind of goal, and played some kind of game with a new record"-strategy would take away the feeling I have with the site. Everyone can make a TAS of a boring game in half a day. I think it's about picking a game, suitable for TASing, and spending lots of time to make it as perfect and entertaining as possible. (btw, this comment is unrelated to the movie)

You might want to take a look at this. It's a submission by nitsuja, which was cancelled (I believe for being too similar to the NES movie or something).

Beating 3 teamed computers at level 9 might also be interesting (although this is only possible in real time)... or a 4-player movie, controlling all 4 characters. (Goals of this would be very unclear though)

Going for absolute highest score would destroy the entertainment value since there are many bonuses that don't show up unless you wait over a minute into the fight.
Doesn't that basically mean having the highest possible score as a goal isn't suitable as a TAS? I don't see what's the point in publishing a score TAS if it is known that it doesn't actually have the highest possible score. The real goal would become pretty unclear then.

Maybe you should cancel the submission if you are coming up with a faster version.

Also managed to get the first place at death mode again :) Finally above 10 million: http://ccgi.gdward.plus.com/cgi-bin/tetris/highscores.php?death=1 Mostly I die because I make an error because of the high speed at the end. This wasn't the case this time... I had a very good chance of making a tetris at the end, which would have made the score a lot higher. Unfortunately, the right piece didn't came, so I basically died waiting for it. Here is the movie.

Tomorrow, it will be exactly one year since I posted this (at Nico's submission), but I still feel exactly the same:

For me, the perfect movie of this game would: - Get all secret characters (this means playing the main game three times, if I'm not mistaken) - Once, beat very hard as fast as possible. - Once, go for highest score, get pacifist on all stages (exept for master hand) if possible) - Once, just go for entertainment, and show off stuff Then, 3 characters are unlocked, and the movie should continue on getting record times on break the targets. this will unlock the last character, and you can make record times on break the targets for everyone. Finally, make records for every character on board the platforms... the stop the movie. ... just a suggestion :P

I liked the camera angle at the first bowser level. Nice improvements. I am wondering though if the strategy FODA used to avoid the wind at the third bowser level isn't faster.

Didn't you read my post?

although most of the mooned movies will be popular probably
I was just mentioning I think it's a bad thing if anticipated and popular are the things that make it noteworthy. I think a movie being entertaining, and recommended make it noteworthy.

Noteworthy as in "a highly anticipated run of a popular game"
I don't know if there is a formal definition, but I disagree. I would say Noteworthy as in "recently published movie which is recommended". If an unknown game proves to be extremely entertaining, I think (assuming it doesn't get a star) it is especially these movies which should get a moon. So I disagree with both anticipated and popular (although most of the mooned movies will be popular probably).

Just throwing another idea into the air; what if the runs were labelled directly to rating as this is usually reflected anyway. For example, a run with an average rating of 9+ would have a gold star; 8+ silver star; 7+ a bronze star.
Won't people be able to see the rating movies have without the stars? The whole idea of stars is to give some recommendations for first time viewers. I think it's a good thing these movies give a variety of movies, instead of just movies of one game, which is why I wouldn't be in favor of having 2 movies of the same game with a star.

why does not megaman shoot and lag in MM6 at that frame then?.
<AngerFist> wanna answer zefiris again? :) <Baxter> the answer is that megaman6 is still scrolling when the others shoot, right? <AngerFist> 110% correct

How come weapon selection window does not show up un upper-left video when start is pressed? It's around 03:28 in video...
The at the frame start is pressed, for changing weapons at megaman 6, there is a frame of lag at both megaman 3 and megaman 5. Megaman 4 is scrolling at this frame. This lag is created by shooting, which explains those shots.

When you started, I thought: "he has no clue what he gets himself into". Amazing that you completed it and that every minute of it was very entertaining. I'm voting for this to get the any% SM64 star.

New WIP! Total length now 18354 frames, or 5 minutes and 6 seconds. This movie clears the seconds levels for all four games. Mega Man 4 is clearly a little behind on the others... we'll see if it can catch up :) WIP (MM3 checksum) (Mainly for AngerFist: MM4 checksum, MM5 checksum, MM6 checksum) - At MM6, it was needed to get a large refill to have enough ammo for Blizzardman - MM5 gravityman can't really be killed faster anyway (not even in a normal run), because of his movement. - MM3 needleman also went very quick - MM6 Blizzardman did his roll attack once. It's a lot harder to manipulate luck when playing 4 games at a time. I think 1 roll is a good result. I did manage to let him do the roll to the right, so it's a very short roll. The battle might still be faster than the Megaman6 v1 run. - MM4 Brightman was a real pain. Luck needed to be manipulated so that Brightman wouldn't do his flash attack, and megaman had to give charged shots, which made it nearly impossible to shoot at MM5 and MM3. I think the battle isn't a lot slower than the battle in the currently published MM4 run.
