Mega Man dies after input ends, by popping up into the last spike ceiling. My checksum matches, but I'm still on FCEUX 2.1.4a; how likely is that to be the problem?

Here's a thought: Batch torrents by system, updated maybe every four months. Not quite as much work, and easier to spread among the staff.

What side quests did he not do? I haven't had the time to watch this yet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought all the doors in Tourian were metal doors, only opening once you destroyed all the Metroids in that room.

RefleX is a Japanese doujinsoft game, a vertically scrolling shoot-'em-up. I'm not sure I'd call it a Bullet Hell™ game, but it's close in places. You can kill enemies in a few ways. 1. You can shoot them with your guns. (Duh!) 2. You can also reflect beam attacks at them with your shield, which also absorbs any bullets it doesn't reflect, although it cannot do anything against missiles. 2a. At full charge, you have approximately 5 seconds of shield. 3. Your shield also determines the power of your guns; the less power your shield has remaining, the weaker your guns are. 4. The shield, while it takes about the same about of time to recharge as it does to deplete, will not charge while you are shooting. 5. You also cannot shoot while using the shield. Unfortunately, this game crashes in Hourglass r81, after having installed it using AppLocale. But it would be really cool to see done in the future.

Maybe try disabling User Account Control/your antivirus or antimalware if you're confident you won't screw your computer up?

(derail) What would you say then about, say, playing the original NA Metroid Prime instead of the Greatest Hits version, which was modified to remove sequence breaks without fixing the bugs / oversights that originally made those breaks possible
I think the issue is that this bug was not in previous versions, and is not in future versions. Honestly, though, I can't answer you hypothetical objectively because I am a HUGE Metroid fanboy and I love any and all forms of sequence breaking.

Why was "Press R to die" removed in version 2.1? If there is a good reason, then I think you should go ahead and use version 2.1 for any attempt at obsoleting this; one of the arguments against using fan translations of games is that we don't want runs on outdated versions, and I think the same logic applies here too.

You also need to make sure the movie is in Read-Write mode and not Read-Only mode.

There has still been no firm date set for the disallowance of SNES9X, although switching to Bizhawk would be a good idea regardless, as its' emulation is more accurate.

Bear in mind, however, that nonstandard/esoteric goals are more permissible in the Moons tier.

Been doing some casual playing. A few things I've noticed: 1. With Zero at least, the Hyper Crush can be used no matter how much energy it had when you equipped it, and it will refill from damage you take even while using it. 2. Zero does not gain the benefits of the Energy Chip or the Radar. Not really relevant to a TAS, though some time might be saved in a 100% using both characters by having Zero as the warp-in character. 3. The Infinite Beam Saber glitch seems to have been fixed. You can still do it, but there's no blade, just the hilt.

There's more content in this run than there is in the more recently submitted "All Sidequests" run, so I'd vote to publish this one over that one. They're both excellent runs, though.

Consider the following understatements: "This TAS was incredible." "A flood is wet." I'm not sure which is the greater understatement. Maybe even TAS of the Decade.

As far as using an outdated emulator, I don't believe there was ever a firm declaration that "SNES9X is no longer allowed," or if there was I missed it.

The problem with the Kaizo 2 hack was that the level design was really bad by the standards of SMW and SMW hacks. That is not the case with Kaizo 3.

"Okay, that's a warp...what the fuck!?"

Would you still have to activate the cannon in a 120 star run for "Somewhere over the Rainbow"? If so, it might unfortunately be slower to use this.
sonicpacker mentioned in the submission thread for the new 120-star that they could have skipped the cannon, but it would have been slower. So the question then is whether or not the time saved with this strat would make up for not using the cannon for Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

Aiming for in-game time over real time in a TAS is not unheard of. We have three dozen currently-published movies that do just that.

That's my point. Why go out of the way for those and not for the Wreckage?

I meant "unmarked" in the sense that nobody really "gives" it to you prior to your finding it.

I don't know what I think about skipping some unmarked sidequests (the Wreckage) but doing others (the Plate System.) That irregularity aside, I thought this was a DAMN good run. Easy Yes vote for the Star tier, and publication alongside the any%.
