Oh, didn't vote.
Was going to vote Meh because I'd rather see a full game walkathon, but mklip2001's point that skipping the Maverick stages makes the run of a nominal length makes a lot of sense, enough to push my vote to a Yes.
That said, if someone DID do a full game walkathon, I'd probably vote for it to obsolete this.
I liked this, but would rather see a more complete MMX playaround. Here are my suggestions for that.
* Skip (only) the Highway with a password
* Beat the bosses in reverse order (so you get the Boots right before Sigma)
** Maximize your use of special weapons in each stage.
** Collect no upgrades.
** Don't dash even after you get the Boots.
* After reaching the Sigma levels, restart the game and used the glitched password, to show off the Highway with weapons, and then beat the game without the Boots.
The idea to skip the Highway at first is because seeing it beaten with special weapons was the clear highlight of the run for me, and (IMO) it wouldn't be nearly as cool if I'd already seen the Highway once in the run.
Thoughts on these stipulations?
Also of note is that time saved because of faster text is not counted for obsoletion purposes, so if someone did a better job than you, but took longer in real-time because they used the (U) ROM, their movie would still obsolete yours.
Nicely done indeed. The highlight of the run for me was interrupting Zangief's Final Atomic Buster kill of Cyber Akuma with a new challenger.
Easy Yes vote.
Probably because it's an any% run he was doing it in. Recall, if you don't have the Arm upgrade when you defeat Vile, you get Zero's arm cannon which does the same thing.
Good luck to you in your endeavor. Recommend you use DeHackEd's Microstorage script to post WIPs for community scrutiny; first attempts are usually improvable, especially considering this is your very first TAS.

Have you seen the published run? Explain to me how that run is less entertaining, or equally entertaining, as this one. TASVideos is not all about speed. It's about doing cool stuff.
Unfortunately, I think this movie is destined for publication no matter what, since the published movie is invalid, as adelikat has said, so I imagine the judges are scrambling to replace it. Which is a damn shame; as many have said, the published movie is damn funny.
It's not quite the same. The glitched SMW run corrupts memory, not save data.
I think most of the arguments against publication is that despite being a much better technical achievement than the published run, it's a serious drop in terms of entertainment. I didn't crack a smile at this one at all, whereas the published run had me laughing hysterically the whole time.
He means hero of the day's 3:52:XX.XX any% run, from before we started doing save data corruption. That run is damn out of date, though. inichi did a test-run about an hour quicker, but declined to submit it; I think the best solution would be to link to that run in the publication text for this one, if it's published.
And really, I'm disgusted at everyone who voted No simply because this wasn't entertaining enough. The Pokémon Red/Blue run also uses memory corruption and is even shorter than this one! All we see is Red walking out of his house into the hall of fame, yet that run got acclaimed by the community. How do you explain that then?
Get your facts straight. Neither the Pokemon Red run, nor the Blue run it obsoleted, warp straight to the end of the game. That's what the Yellow run does, and it is published alongside the Red run.
Glitcher, you're incredibly confrontational and abusive. What in the world is your issue? I honestly don't get it.
As for the NewGame+ run, it's a whole different category from this, although considering that it also uses save corruption, I would imagine that it's also invalid for the same reason adelikat posted earlier.
Thanks for the explanation. Aside from verifying the run, can the very concept of mid-frame resets be verified?
Think of it like this. A second in real life doesn't take 60 arbitrary frames, it takes a second. Frames are just an arbitrary subdivision of seconds, which are themselves an arbitrary measurement of time. I think the real question is, "If a controllerbot was built that could handle the Reset button, would it have the finesse necessary to perform the sub-frame resets?"
Really? The published movie is invalid? Whoops.
I still don't think this has the same entertainment value as that one, despite that it's a better technical achievement. I would vote for a recreation of the published movie in lsnes over voting for this.
I apparently got Delta7, not Delta8. Maybe that's the problem.
*five minutes later...*
Yep, that was it.
A nice technical achievement, but almost completely devoid of entertainment. Gotta vote No.
Desynced at the bridge, and I can't figure out how to set it to the accuracy core. The lsnes topic doesn't say either, nor does the manual. Was using the wxwidgets executable if that matters.
I enjoyed this run a great deal, but I have to disagree with the idea that it's a "combo playaround." If I recall correctly, there are only another four combo attacks used in this movie over the published one; SilentWave, Destruction, Grand Cross, and Circuit Breaker. There's still another half dozen or so after that.
As far as it being a 100%, I would agree with what FreshFeeling said on page 1; there are so many references to previous games in the form of monsters and other such, that it'd be extremely hard to get that across to a viewer without both a commentary track, and taking lots of extra time.
