This was made with SNES9X v1.51, not v1.52. Try that.

I had done some messing around with this game last year, but nothing came of it. You did a fantastic job showing off each weapon, dodging bullets/enemies, using your gunpods as battering rams, and so on. Enthusiastic YES vote. EDIT: Really? Already a no-explanation No vote? I'd love to be surprised by that. EDIT 2: If you do go for re-doing this, Photon in Stage 3 is a good idea; that was one of the ideas I tested, and it is possible to 100% the stage solely using the charge field as a battering ram. (Aside from the bosses, of course.)

The colors being a bit muted gave this a very dark feel. I really liked that. The use of the X-Ray Scope to preserve Speed Echoes was really cool, and overall, I like this a lot more than I like Mockingbird. Voting YES on this run, and I propose that this run obsolete the Mockingbird run.

From http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=160181
- "Both the controller and the console will be sold as one unit. You won't be able to buy the controller alone." - multiplayer games being created for the system are only being designed to accomodate one Wii Ucontroller - other players have to use Wiimotes
In addition, no Gamecube controller support. To summarize: No thanks, Nintendo. To summarize the summary: Nope. To summarize the summary of the summary: *walks away*

As far as the plot goes, I subscribe to the theory that Edea actually killed Squall at the end of Disc 1 and the entire rest of the game is a dream he has as his brain shuts down. Google search for "Squall's Dead" if you like. Not posting a link because it won't work right with the spoiler tags and the URL is a spoiler if you subscribe to the theory. I'll try to find time to watch this weekend; I'm very familiar with the game, and I imagine the run is a hell of an achievement.

That's what the extra SMV in the submission shows; when you do that glitch, the timer never counts down.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say in the submission thread for your current Phantasy Star IV run that you weren't going to do anything like that because English isn't your first language? Or did you mean audio commentary specifically?

Which arm part are you going to use? Stock Charge or Plasma Shot?

The published run is on Expert. If you hope to have this branch published alongside it, that's what you should have done this run on. Comments as I watch... Fairly big mistake against Bravoo Man; IIRC, you can damage him much earlier than when you start firing on him. The fight against Pinky Roadster was pretty boring, but it was like that in the published run too. Stage 1 as a whole: Not bad, but not up to par with the published run. I did like you killing the second Phantom by throwing a minor baddie into him, though. Stage 2 would probably have been more entertaining with more use of the Chaser Fireball and a lot of weaving around enemy shots as you direct the fireball. Writing messages with it would also have been cool. You shouldn't let the enemies linger on the screen so long; it looks unprofessional, IMO. Either kill all of them as quick as possible, or don't kill any and impress us with dodging. Soldier Force: There were a number of times when you weren't close enough to him to have a continuous stream of damage. It looked to me like suboptimal play, but I admit it could easily have been needing to avoid taking damage and not having a second player to keep the pressure on. Tails Force: You start firing too early. Looks unprofessional. You don't do a good job of staying right on him to ensure you hit him as fast as possible. Crab Force: Boring, but that's it. Urchin Force: You start firing too early. You don't do a good job keeping a continuous stream of damage. Tiger Force: You start firing too early. Poor job keeping a continuous stream of damage. Eagle Force: You start firing too early. Poor job keeping a continuous stream of damage. Blaster Force: You start firing too early. Poor job keeping a continuous stream of damage. Stage 3 opening: Very stylish. I liked this part a lot. Lots of throwing stuff into enemies and throwing enemies into each other. Stage 3 to Smash Daisaku: Kinda boring. Smash Daisaku: Boring. Orange: You can hurt him more quickly by firing at him until one more hit will stun him, then throwing him. Stage 4: Road to the Dice Palace is not bad, but not significantly different from the published run. Timeron: Very boring. Melon Bread: Also boring. Fight Room: Still boring. Curry and Rice: STILL boring. Black Beat Stepper: There are a few times where you don't do that good a job of keeping a continuous stream of damage on him. Stage 5: Entertaining until the last stretch where you don't really kill anything but the walkers; boring from there. Smash Daisaku: When he's jetpacking across the screen, jump-attacking him will likely deal more damage faster. Smash Daisaku on foot: Interesting job keeping him on foot and going without an invulnerability period for so long. If you can replicate that, it would probably work very nicely in a 2-player run. But again, you don't always hit him as early as possible. Stage 6: More dodging between laser blasts where possible would have been cool. You shouldn't have opened fire on those two big ships if you weren't going to destroy them. You seem to have abandoned "kill everything" after the 1000mm Gun in favor of "kill at random," which looks unprofessional. Seven Force is boring. Core Guard System: Unit of the Hammer is boring. Unit of the Dragon wasn't bad. Unit of the Runner was also not bad. I liked your bouncing the Chaser Fireball around. Duck Batallion: Okay, but could you have avoided the single hit you took from him? Pink Lobster: Not bad. Orange: Not bad. Black Fly: Not bad. Green: Not bad. The glitch with the Chaser Fireball was great, though. Golden Silver: Tossing the gems around before he showed up was great. The fight itself wasn't bad either. On the whole, while there is some decent entertainment here, it's not nearly up to par with arkiandruski's run. Gotta vote no.

The any% run gets the bad ending, and since it collects no upgrades except the Beam Saber, it's much quicker than a Bad Ending 100% would be, since you only have to charge two levels to get to the Beam Saber instead of 4 levels.

TASVideos recommends SNES9X. The only thing ZSNES has that SNES9X doesn't is a dedicated rewind button. SNES9X v1.43+ and v1.51+ are both accepted, but v1.43+ is sort of depreciated.

Watched a few of your later WIPs, and was very entertained. I'll save my vote for once I've watched the final run, though.

Wouldn't it be possible to parse the emulator version out of the movie file? Or could you only parse the branch of the emulator?

Although I have nothing but respect for Fuzzerd and Sonikkustar's work, it would be nice to have a year where this award didn't go to Sonic.

IIRC, Janus said when FreshFeeling did commentary for his (currently) published Phantasy Star IV run that he wasn't going to do his own commentary because English is not his first language. EDIT:

I believe SDR also speaks Portuguese, though I think his in-profile locations says Brazil; is Portuguese a common language there?

Just watched the Monopoly one. Very cool that you replicated the scenario on the actual board game. One minor gripe, though: how come no mention of FractalFusion's four-CPU-bankrupting run?

He's not trying to be insulting, he's trying to save you the aggravation of submitting a SMB TAS that's not as good as the published one and it being summarily rejected.

Why does your graduating high school preclude you from seeing your friends and teachers? Are you going to college abroad? And even if that's the case, what's to stop you from connecting with them via social media like Facebook?

If you're in the air at the right time, you can avoid the "Boss Defeated" pose. That was the purpose of my being in the air after taking them out in my published run. Anyway, it's good to see someone else taking a crack at this. I had been doing some work on it, but couldn't figure out how to bypass the intro in SNES9X the way I did in ZSNES.

I don't think there's much way to make that work; the only times there have been multiple Metroid games on one console was with Fusion and Zero Mission on the GBA, Prime and Prime 2 on the Gamecube, and (arguably) Prime 3 and Prime Trilogy on the Wii. More than that, because of the amount of exploration involved in them, I think a single-input run beating two of them would have to basically alternate between working on one and working on another.

That's what happens when you apply the patch to a non-headered copy of the Super Mario World ROM. You can add a header with NSRT, Nach's SNES ROM Tools, which you can get here.
