I appreciate you Zurreco, even if I never say anything anymore. Too bad we're not time zone buddies anymore...

I got a DS lite about a month ago, and only have two games so far: New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart DS. I'm still working on getting triple-star on NSMB because i've been distracted by MKDS. I've pretty much obliterated the single player game of MKDS, i.e. triple star everything, from grand prix to missions and awesome time trial times. I'm gonna start dominating the WIFI here soon. In summary, I like my DS.

I can't wait until I can watch this movie! I've loved all the Castlevania movies I've seen so far, and I'm sure this one won't be an exception.

I wasn't a big fan of this movie either. My reaction was fairly similar to xebra's, although I wasn't quite as harsh :P

Sweet, I'm excited to see what else you can do with this game. You have my support! Unfortunately, I can't watch your WIP because I just moved out and don't have computer access at home yet (I'm at work right now :P) but I will keep an eye on this thread.

Article regarding old-school button masher. Super-awesome video of said old-school button masher (from some 80's movie).
This is the guy I was thinking of. Thanks for clarifying who he was!

The fastest I've heard is 16 Hz, however I can't find a references either :P I remember it was a Japanese guy who recieved a bit of publicity for being able to button mash so quickly on the NES.

darkwasabi over at the SDA forum is the most qualified person I know of to help you out. He did a speedrun in ~8:47, so he could help you beat that dude's time by quite a bit probably.

I believe the level order is: Side scroller + boss Top-down view + boss Auto scroller Side scroller + boss Top-down view + boss Auto scroller Side scroller + final boss I'm not positive on this though. The WIP looked pretty good. The stops are an unfortunate necessity, because the enemies are a lot of hits and you're only one. My only real advice would be to make sure you use the bomb things effectively. I'm not sure if every fireball that gets released can do damage to a single target or not, so that would need to be looked into. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing more of this!

I just finished playing through this game on ZSNES, and I'd love to see a well done TAS made. The 2 autoscrollers are busy enough that they should be entertaining, despite their length. The second top-down level would be amazing to see done well, because of the speed you can achieve. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this, and I'll definitely help critique any WIPs I see :D

I was totally expecting some asinine (yet funny) Billy Madison quote when I opened this topic. Then I remembered it was "Business Ethics", not "Corporate Ethics".

My favorite speedruns are the Goldeneye 007 individual levels, the various Quake done Quick projects, the individual tracks from any of the Mario Kart games, the individual levels from Diddy Kong Racing, and the Starcraft/Brood War campaign missions. It wasn't that hard for me to choose my 'favorites' because these are the only ones I've even seen :P

I'd like to see you use the elusive shuriken in Legend of Zelda without tool assistance. Heck, I'm skeptical that it can be done with tool assitance!

You should come to the IRC channel. I'm almost always up for playing Starcraft with someone at or around 1 or 2 am PST. However, you have any experience, you'll probably beat me. My APM only peaks at around 70 :P:P

Don't forget the PS3's games! I mean, who could turn down Genji 2? In case you don't know, it's an action game based on real Japanese history and features historical battles with giant crabs. You can flip the crab over and attack its weak point for massive damage. Oh, I almost forgot about the innovative features such as real time weapon change!

But, the glossery says something else! I think it would help if TAS meant the same thing all throughout the site.

My main beef with tasvideos.org is that TAS stands for tool assisted speedrun, and yet it's been said over and over again that the main goal of these movies isn't speed. However, you're directly contradicting yourself by giving the site a name which implies its contents will be speed oriented, when within the said site the rules say that speed is not the primary goal. Unless TAS stands for something else, that is.

Infinite bomb jumping doesn't require frame precision, just decently quick reactions/timing. I've done over 20 bomb jumps in a row, which is enough to get just about anywhere you need to with ibj, except for early wave. That's just sick :P

A winner is me! Clear time: 18:35 Item Collection Rate: 66.8% I'm surprised my time isn't a lot higher. I spent a lot of time wandering around and I think I might have left the ZSNES running in the background for a few hours without knowing it once.
