I want that the summer vacation comes soon and lasts for a long time. I want a free travel to Japan and back, and someone to come with me. I want more RAM to my server so that it doesn't suffocate every time I run some program that wants to use multigigabyte buffers and hashes. But I guess nothing of that is accomplished by asking it here.

Verify that your keyboard can register the buttons for "B" (running) and "left" (moving left) at the same time. Cheap keyboards have problems registering certain combinations of keys at the same time. Try changing the keys if needed.

Although I'm a lurker myself, I think it would decrease abusement, and it would keep the ratings more reasonable. Working on it. ---EDIT--- Done. To some extent. All users still have voting access, but it uses an influence system, that is governed by the number of posts, the privileges of the users, and the rank of the user on the forums. All users, who can rate movies, have at least some influence. The ratings are dynamically calculated, so changes to the aforementioned aspects of one's profile do not require going and rating the movies again. In other words, you can rate movies as a lurker, and as you become a more established member in the passage of weeks, your ratings will also gain power automatically. The exact formula of the influence system is kept secret for now, but you can get an idea of your own influence at the rating page in the statistics that are shown in between of the rated and non-rated movies.

Is it possible to limit the maximum number of hits with "&ratingsort=Y"? It would be nice to have a "List the _top 20 rated movies_" on the front page.
You can add maxage... but no other kind of amount limit is currently implemented.

That's not the formula, and it's cryptic too.

"Rated #.## for technical, #.## for entertainment"?
I don't like to hardcode that stuff. The rating categories are currently dynamic, etcetc Also, the line would be long, and cluttered that way.

Also, I don't know if this was already planned, but it should be possible to sort by individual rating categories rather than by the averaged rating. Technical excellence and entertainment value will probably each give a much different order.
Yes, I'm sure it would. However, to avoid clutter and the troublesomeness of maintaining, I won't implement this.

If entertainment was the main goal, then an AnN movie which was *slower* than the current one, but more "entertaining", could perfectly obsolete the current one. However, I don't see that ever happening. Why? Because speed is, after all, the main issue.
Which is only a consequence of the fact, that entertainment is nowhere as easy to compare as speed is. (Note: this post did not disagree with the quoted post.)

A method to sort movies by rating has been added. Add &ratingsort=Y into the movies.cgi URLs, for example: http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?systemid=2&ratingsort=Y (SNES movies) http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?rec=Y&ratingsort=Y (recommended movies) Or all movies: http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?ratingsort=Y (not recommended to distribute this URL)

Whoa. I have no idea how that bug went undetected for so long time. Anyway, try again now, I think I fixed it.

Where is that link?
Underneath and to the right from the "discuss this movie" link. The bottommost link in the table cell that has the movie file download choices.

I suggest that you also put the number of ratings after the number. This will give people the ability to judge whether they think this rating is trustworthy. I also suggest not putting the number in italic. It looks awkward that way since the rest of the sentence isn't.
Done on both accounts.

- You may vote on your own movies, but please try to be objective. - You can already view your own votes. Click the "rate other movies" link. - You can change your votes. - Listing/sorting movies by their ratings is a development idea not yet implemented. - Rating does not require a certain number of posts.

There's a new feature on the movie pages now. Click the "rate this movie" links to find out. Please make sure to read the guidelines regarding rating, on the rating page. Thanks to Warp for implementing most of it! And thanks to TNSe for ideas! And of course we want feedback on the rating feature itself.

How the heck can you measure sub-pixels? Are you using an add-on?
Just as Graveworm answered. Reading the game RAM. The game keeps Rockman's coordinates in very high precision variables, and those variables are stored in the RAM, and the emulator knows where the RAM is, and I just need to know where in the RAM those variables are, and how to decode them. Which I do now know.

Yes, and the forums have it too. I will only change these gradually, with no hurry whatsoever. Name it a transition period, a half-hearted experiment or a glitch, if you need to.

Just for the record: "The movies are mostly NES ones, but there are some for other systems as well, and not all movies need to be for NES." ;)
Have I said that? Wow, I'm so self-similar. :P

My main beef with tasvideos.org is that TAS stands for tool assisted speedrun, and yet it's been said over and over again that the main goal of these movies isn't speed. However, you're directly contradicting yourself by giving the site a name which implies its contents will be speed oriented, when within the said site the rules say that speed is not the primary goal. Unless TAS stands for something else, that is.
That's a good argument. My defence is that the movies are mostly speed-oriented, but do other things as well, and not all movies need to be speed-oriented. Just like a video rent store may sell candies.

Sounds like there's a need for a levelup in the copypasting technique! I'm 70% done with the experience required to reach that level. Hint: Try to match everything affecting the copypasting point. This includes subpixel position, and random seed if possible. Lag-affecting factors are more difficult to match. I utilized the subpixel matching in Rockman.
