It is because the tracker nowadays requires that when downloading torrent files directly from the tracker, the info hash must be hex-coded. Therefore, a new version of btfriend.py has been released, addressing this problem. http://bisqwit.iki.fi/src/btfriend.py <- download here. EDIT: Nevermind that. I guess Debian folks had broke it. I downloaded v4 of Bittorrent and it works fine.

The most important thing is to have fast RAM. 133 MHz RAM is not fast enough for that kind of recording.

AVI is merely a container, just as OGM and MKV are. They are not codecs - they contain streams compressed with various codecs. I used OGM because it can contain Vorbis sound, which AVI can not contain. Both can contain X264 video stream. As for Windows Media Player, I'm not the slightest surprised if it doesn't support OGM. WMP is Microsoft software, and OGM is a free standard not developed by Microsoft. Microsoft and free standards are often mutually exclusive. I suggest using something else.

We haven't actually switched anything. I tried OGM for a change because it's the only format I know that can store Vorbis soundtrack, and I wanted to try some better audio codec than MP3. Vorbis is very good. I tried FAAC before that (FAAC can be put into AVI), but it appeared to be worse[1] than MP3 for NES soundtracks. However, the "-vf decimate" option can't be used together with OGM format[2], which is a shame because the decimate option (discovered by Dehacked) creates a big saving in the file size. OGM might have some other mechanism for eliminating identical frames, but it's important that the identical frames are eliminated before feeding them to the codec. This maximizes the effect of the multiple reference frame usage of the X264 codec. As for MKV (Matroska), I have no experience of it, but I'll maybe look at it some day. [#1]: FAAC at 40 kbit/s had very clear ringing artifacts, whereas MP3 didn't have that problem. [#2]: ogmmerge drops frames of zero size, creating serious A/V desync.

Saturn, you're from Germany but your movie title (in the FCM file) says "﮸‘倀茄ィȴѠ䠴‚" (hex: EF AE B8 C2 91 E5 80 80 E8 8C 84 EF BD A8 C8 B4 D1 A0 E4 A0 B4 C2 82). How should I interpret that?

(Sorry for being a thread necromancer.) We have had one Bigfoot submission so far <http://tasvideos.org/forum/t/1464>, but it was rejected. Reasons were that the movie lacked a "wow" impression. I like the game though. Can anyone think of a way to make a more interesting movie of this game?

Note that to download the MPG from globetown.net, you must copy&paste the link (don't click directly). If using wget, set --user-agent=Mozilla.

I may recommend also BisqBot's battle simulator: http://bisqbot.stc.cx/pokedex.php Example query:
hit L20dv1,2,3,4 pikachu with headbutt from L10dv15,1,12,6 meowth
Example result:
MEOWTH[L10,atk23].HEADBUTT[99.6%,STAB,TM2] -> PIKACHU[L20,def30,hp60]: Damage: 10-12 (crit: 16-19). 29.7% chance for flinching caused.
There's also a Pokédex there. For example, try:
pkmn meowth full

Oh, and btw - in making a game, finding a suitable graphics editor program is not the biggest problem.

Judging from the information you posted (which only includes one image representing a pixel-by-pixel editing window with no tools or identification of software displayed), it could be almost any image editor in the world. Nothing out of ordinary...

I'd like to have the same for FCM. I'd also like to have the reverse - joiner of a reset-based movie with a savestate-based movie, which may assume sync problems don't arise.

In a new version of the submission manager (worktitled "Project manager", contrasting to the old name "Queue manager"), this could be one good idea to have. There are a few goals I'm aiming for: - Possibility to post incomplete movies - More than one text box. -- Incorporating something that has previously been done in the forums and by editing the submission text - that is, movie commenting. - Adding other type of attachments besides movie files (savestates, screenshots, maps?) -- Because I don't have too much bandwidth to spare, there are going to be some limits - Updating/deleting/adding attachments -- Changelog of file and status updates - Automatically calculating more information from the movie file, besides the rerecord count, system and length -- For example, in the case of snes9x, WIP/upanddown etc flags - Preview before posting - More status handling: add status "in progress" I'm currently rewriting some internal portions of the website engine, and I haven't yet actually begun writing this project manager (except for the database plans).

IMO.. I think it would be funny to see you in one level, make a free man pop out of every object you destroy :P.
I agree, but it's exhausting to do that... I'll keep that in mind when I continue my movie. Also, since I mostly use the magnet beam, there aren't many places where I actually kill something. In the new movie, not even the Gutsman tunnel.

I'm not sure why everyone is so excited of this movie. I watched the first 6 levels. I didn't see any obvious mistakes, but the thing that stroke me is that it wasn't boring at all. It kept me interested (*). Congratulations, your submission is accepted. :) *) I can't say that for the whole 1½ hours. But the audience knows it best...

Nope, he hasn't. I've suspended that project. Rockman now has higher priority, although that isn't telling much because I'm working on many other things right now.
