Is it really caused by getting 30 1ups in row? I've heard it in regular playing and I haven't really often got 30 1ups in row (I've only done it in 1-2, but I recall hearing it in other levels too).

I believe it's "multiple reference frames" you're talking about. The frame dropping feature is inherent to the AVI format, not x264.

I tried this game a bit to get touch of it (so far, until arriving to the Moon Tribe place), and then observed parts of your movie again, and I can say I'm more impressed now than I was before. Good job. Encoding this movie (as you already know) :)

I think you get notification only once until you visit the topic again. Not sure though. You have a gmail-address, which shouldn't have problem receiving e-mail.

First of all, it's Mars, not March. Second of all, you're two years late. In simplest terms, you've just became a victim of a circulating urban legend. http://www.snopes.com/science/mars.asp Edit: Having seen it, I must say it was exciting. I first noticed the very noticeably red-tinted star, which I wondered if it's Mars, before actually hearing about this news. I liked watching it for a week or two. But indeed, it was news 2 years ago. Now it's gone. :) Relevant quote of hour:

I get hit by the robot, but immediately regain control after my Air Shooter refill animation ends. I'm not sure how much faster this was than if I had just let myself get hit, but I'm pretty sure that it will be faster if the player is only missing one stripe of ammo.
You picked a weapon refill right after getting hit. A very Lucky accident. It indeed would speed up the movie assuming 1) the A weapon is available upon entering F (not the case) 2) a weapon drop could be manipulated without delays. Of course, there could be other places where it can be used.

There is a certain boss that can't be fought with fireball or wheel, because it grabs Kirby before he can do any damage. I'm not sure whether this applies to the sword too. As for the idea, I don't think a sword-only run (or no-weapon run) will be any less boring than a wheel-most run. Variety is what makes a movie like this [a platform game movie of length approaching 1 hour] interesting. Edit: Added []'d part for clarity

DonamerDragon, how about you go and cancel the submission you didn't intend to submit. I see two in RecentChanges. Either one of them is superfluous. Edit: nevermind, you were faster than my eyes.

To wrap this off-topic discussion up, I'll state the situation regarding emulator usage: The preferred emulator for NES movies is currently FCE Ultra. Famtasia submissions are allowed, but deprecated for various reasons (emulation quality, difficulty of making AVI). This is mentioned in the Rules as well as on the EmulatorHomepages page.

If VirtuaNES can't be used here, why this emulator?
Because Famtasia doesn't have the problems that VirtuaNES has as explained in the Rules.

I don't write everything up. It's been time since those movies were published.

Keep in mind that even Rockman 2 was played using Famtasia. :) (I still don't think it's as bad emulator as Phil seems to express.)

By the way, what does "uses all kind of settings" mean? In some previous submission, you wrote "uses settings: up" or "uses settings: up and select". Perhaps you've misunderstood what "which emulator settings you use" means. Please read below:

I watched it... and by the third (or fourth?) boss, I was bored enough to stop watching. Voting no. Also, I think in the "training mode" you could have been faster. Even if it has no effect in the result, it would have been more impressive to have no delays between aiming and shooting. In any case, I don't want to see more submissions for this game. The game just simply lacks maneuvaribility (eh, how's that word spelled?) to allow interesting actions. The hero is way too slow and unagile. (But I'm not rejecting this submission yet - I want to offer a chance. What do others think?)

I thought someone already submitted a movie of this game, but apparently I'm mistaken. However, the game has been discussed, in this topic: http://tasvideos.org/forum/t/1364 Apparently, some people thought this game is very boring, and some remembered it as a hard one. I'm prejudiced against this movie, but I'll watch it if I remember to. Until then, not voting. Ps: Kameza, you've recently submitted a lot of movies, most of which have been rejected. I'd like you to concentrate on quality instead of quantity! Or are you desperate to get your name on the list of players?

H264 definitely creates smaller AVI files, and would probably enable reasonable encoding of Super Spy Hunter, for example. However, the more AVIs we release and the bigger AVIs we release, the more resources it demands on the people who seed them and thus the less likely it becomes for any particular AVI to be seeded...

I mean, it feels a bit akward to have a submission published but "not worth an avi", don't you think?
I agree. There are few movies that have been published out of compassion (and of other not-so-cool factors, such as fans loving to see the game being played), not out of any awesomeness in the performance. It's wrong, but I don't like taking the movies out, either... Perhaps some day. (But not before I recreate a mechanism to obsolete movies without them being obsoleted by _something_...) These non-obsoleted movies are currently lacking an AVI:
| id | gamename | notes
+-----+------------------------------+---------+
| 29 | Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers | (1)
| 36 | Track and Field | (1) (3)
| 48 | Kid Icarus | (1)
| 102 | Super Spy Hunter | (2) (3)
| 133 | Gunstar Heroes | (2)
| 180 | Little Mermaid | (3)
| 272 | Zanac | (2) (3)
1) It's an extraneous movie. 2) It would create a huge AVI file. 3) The movie is not worth the AVI [of that size]. Also, there are some non-entry movies such as Jonas Stradman's SMB3 movie. (Ps: phpBB just is ugly sometimes when it comes to preformatted text)

And -The movie might be so stupid that it's not worth of an AVI, like the Little Mermaid...

There is a glitch that can warp you from Fightinh air man to Wily stage level 2.
This trick has been discussed even in this topic before. Read the previous posts. In this AVI, I demonstrate the trick you described. http://bisqwit.iki.fi/jutut/jp-mm2/rockman-aire2.avi Unfortunately, the trick is completely useless. It simply leads Mega Man into a non-escapable dead end. Edit: And no, Item2 is not required to pass that map. Edit 2: Similarly, the maps of Wily1, Wily3 and Wily4 can be accessed from other levels. A similar effect exists in Rockman 1, but it's not any more helpful there either.

Is your aim at top speed? Because it doesn't look perfect to me, especially in the first level. You should also know that bouncing from those baseball guys actually slows you down.
