I had no idea. These are things that would make the subtitles very valuable.

This movie seems to be quite a good brain-relaxer. But brain-relaxers should not be half an hour long. I'm unsure of what to think about this movie. It's not like it's going to bring any insights to Zanac players of new creative tactics either... This movie isn't bad, and it isn't annoying to watch, but no matter what, the audience's attention will start to drift very soon after the beginning, and is kilometers away at the end of the movie.

In this particular case it's because if everyone is level 5 I will get a game over when I learn L5 Death in the Ancient Library (next dungeon).
Why would that be? And why needed Butz be kept at level 2 earlier?

I still don't understand why must あ -- ahem, Butz be kept at a low level.

The email the script sent asked to reply to me if its decision was incorrect. I got two or three replies (and I of course restored those accounts).

It analyzed the following things (copypaste from the email template it sent): * You never confirmed your registration. * You never logged in. * You have last visited the board N days ago. * You never posted. * You have only posted once. * You have posted N messages. Precisely, it selected users who have never logged in, or who have logged in over 50 days ago but posted less than 15 messages.

The thing is that the ending music begins when Mario's feet touch ground, and the time counting begins when Mario enters the door. These events depend on Mario's speed when exiting the flagpole.

It's fastest to land a little above the flag. This prevents Mario stepping on the flagpole root. I haven't compared which of the positions above the flag are fastest.

In August 2004, I deleted lots of users (hundred or two) with a script that attempted to find which users have been inactive. The motive was to delete users who have registered only to be able to browse the submissions but haven't been active for a long time. Some of them had posted messages.

It looked like you could have gotten the mushroom slightly faster instead of going farther to the right and curving to the left in the air.
I guess I didn't try that. I tried a couple of ways. EDIT: Feh, I misread. You didn't suggest anything after all. No, I needed to have excess speed because of the turtle. Had Mario jumped later, he would have died, and had he ran slower, he wouldn't have hit the right block. I braked as fast as I could and chose the curve that causes a collision with the mushroom as low as possible with as much right-going velocity as possible (for the continuation).
I just tried it out, and he had to do that to prevent an alternate pipe glitch that would have taken him to a coin room in 1-2.
There are actually two different coin rooms where the pipe would have led. - When you enter the pipe immediately so that the "welcome" text appears while you enter the pipe, you get a level 1-2 entry screen and you start from a coin room which leads to the end of 1-2. - When you enter the pipe without the "welcome" text appearing, it just takes you to another coin room within the first part of 1-2.
Why do you land at the bottom of the flagpole in 4-1?
Because I couldn't reach the top of it. I took the bottom for variance. (Actually not exactly the bottom - I chose to land as low as possible but _not_ the bottom. The bottom is the slowest.)

Anonymous = Guest. Anonymous posts are posts of deleted users. I'm not sure why the number is that big. -> http://tasvideos.org/forum/search.php?search_author=Anonymous

And here's the FCEU version... https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/bisqwit-smb2j-v7-converted.zip Created with nesmock with command: nesmock -o124 -o14660:119 smb2j.fmv smb2j.fcm Note: The movie desyncs if your SMB2j image contains 'stars' (collected from past completions of the game). Delete the smb2j.fds that may exist in your fceu's savestate directory (and only there).

Johnny is easy to predict at slow-motion. He reads your acceleration and uses that to choose where to move. Keep your steering speed as small as possible, and it should be easy.

Right. You can use your own site for that purpose. I'm rejecting this submission because of the feedback and deleting the file because it's not a free movie file storage. It's a submission manager.

Registration is free. And still, the only thing collected is the number of votes and the list of users who have voted (but not who voted which). (The user list is not displayed though.)

I can't understand how this guy can act like nothing happened at all. He flooded our forum with hundreds of automated registrations and other requests in attempt to bring the server down, using over 150 distinct IP addresses (cracked computers) a few weeks ago. He intiminated me, seemingly enjoying the concept of being unstoppable. His homepage lists chatroom flood programs and other utilities of malice he has made. I told him I will not accept that kind of people - people who turn into criminals out of whim - among our contributors. He also said he'll go looking for a site that "has some integrity" instead of my site. So I wonder what he is doing here now.

The point is that I'm not an expert at many games, nor do I have time to watch all the submissions. I collect opinions. I'd like a non-anonymous poll though. For the decision to be done, the poll usually needs to gain a result with enough confidence. (And don't extort me to provide an exact mathematical formula for that - there is none.)

Can you avoid the game lag near the stairs with the small spikecars? I think it lagged for Linnom too, but I'd like to hear if you've tried to eliminate the lag. Anyway, you have the green light! I'm eager to see more progress updates.

Which emulator are you talking about? You didn't mention that important information, and you didn't post to the correct forum. Secondly, did you read the FAQ? Because I am reading it and it answers your question completely.

Even the first time you can PAN the view vertically. I created a small video that demonstrates the full camera movements (and gets 2341 as score): http://tracker.tasvideos.org/chronotrigger-race-panaround.avi.torrent (7 MB)

When you do the race, be sure to move the camera around in interesting ways, because you don't have to worry about your reflexes. :)

So you'd need to be at least level 113 for the boss to even consider running, if you don't use Fear. I created a program which will calculate the chances of the enemy running away from battle depending on player level and the number of Fear spells used, assuming the formula posted is correct and assuming the range of random numbers (0..50) is inclusive. http://bisqwit.iki.fi/src/ffcalc.zip Example usage:
$ ./ffcalc 100
for morale=100
p-level fear*0 fear*1
1 - 44.0%
2 - 48.0%
3 - 52.0%
4 - 56.0%

When those programs are compiled on OSX (or with a cross-compiler), yes. Edit: I liked this movie. Especially the simple details such as jumping over people. Also, it was cool to see FFMQ to be that high quality. The last time I played it on an emulator I couldn't enjoy the transparency effects because I was using a 8bpp screen.
