I have a new better version of the glitch. Would you like me to send it to you? It is 00:42.
Sure.

As for the holy water, wouldn't you need it to get the whip upgrades?
Yes. Though the whip upgrades aren't necessary. In the latest version (the link is in some earlier post), I played the first three mansions with leather whip. Dracula is most probably possible to beat with the leather whip too - it just takes 8 times more hits.

According to David Wonn's site, It warps you to the first room of Dracula's Castle. It will have messed up graphics, but they return to normal when you get to his lair. You don't need to beat the last two mansions. In other words, the game will assume you have all items of dracual when you really don't.
Sounds realistic, but the question whether the holy water is needed is still open. However, to beat Dracula fast, you might want to have laurels and to get laurels you always need holy water, unless you get free laurels from the fourth mansion.

For the "way around the game", you may find http://tasvideos.org/simonsquest.txt helpful.

You might want to add in the video description that you can save a couple of minutes if you exploit some very hard glitches
Done

What I wonder about the most is if the game actually thinks you have all the items when you do it if you only have the red crystal....hmmm)
I believe you need the holy water too. Unless the glitch puts you straight next to the room where Dracula's remnants are burned.
Did you ever happen to make an .avi file of the glitch. I want to study it ;)
Yes, read the earlier messages.

It means "0 seeds currently, but if you start downloading and wait 10 minutes, one of the hosts running the btfriend.py script sees the need and starts seeding this file".

Oh Jesus. Another fastest? We're going to need to redefine "fastest."
At the first month of the nesvideos page the movies were labeled "played timewise perfectly". When the fact that they weren't perfect bothered me enough, I changed it to "as fast as possible". Fastest, perfect, etc are very relative words and subject to change any time :)

If you make an improvement on AD then you should remove that. It's very annoying to watch.....
And don't replace it with something like ducking 30 times in second.

Seems so (because I have its soundtrack). I don't know that game then.

Out of the topic of this thread. Please don't reply to that question :) I'm not going to create a new one either because I don't want to be one asking that question :)

You can find a movie of Gradius 2 aka Life Force at Arc's site (click the link), former nes.greatstreamingvideo.com.

I like balloon fight and the older games like clu clu land and donkey kong 3 a lot and I wonder if you would you be interested in movies of thoose older hard games?
Balloon Fight: It's extremely fun game to play, but I doubt it's a good game for timeattacks because all the effort may only show in the clock - not as an observable "awesome" sensation. Clu Clu Land: I recall you can't control the movements very precisely in this game. If I'm right, it's not suitable for timeattacks. Donkey Kong 3: Might be too simple game... not sure.

Lezard, we're stupid :) Linnom submitted a 10:18 Batman timeattack today. It plays so well (doesn't get hurt except in 3rd boss) that I'm a bit shamed that there were so many things I didn't think of :)

And I think timeattacks demonstrate more impressive skills than speedruns. I like especially those timeattacks that demonstrate those skills most :) Teaching your brain how to play a game extraordinarily well is just waste of time when you can teach a computer that much faster with better results :) Ok I might be provocating a bit here.

While I also agree that the set of skills in these two tasks are not equal, only intersecting. Timeattack making requires more brain'n'thinking skills whereas normal playing requires reaction-like skills :)

Knowledge on the game mechanisms and possible choices is also playing skills.

timeattacks are theories, and nothing more. They don't demonstrate any playing skills, mostly patience and bugs
Timeattacks do require some skills to make. I have handled enough submissions to know that some are better timeattack makers than others. Yes, you don't need to learn and remember all the monsters and places of the game by heart - you can just undo and redo as many times as you wish - but you do need to learn the game physics in order to do the most fluent movements and to exploit every single detail that could affect time or sensation. You need to have eye for what's good and what's not. Many beginning timeattack makers ignore this. They think that their first movie doesn't have much to improve, and are extremely surprised when they notice how the second try shaves so much time from their first try. Anyone can learn those skills - like anyone can learn playing. For different people it requires different amount of effort.

Well it was me first who think this idea and it's pretty cool doing this when waiting in the game.Otherwise the character must stay in place which is pretty :O to watch.
It was cool the first time I saw it, but then it became disturbing. Especially in the Castlevania 3 movie I would have hoped that the character would stay still instead of looking so nervous. Turning left and right all the time doesn't look very cool. Would you think it's fun to do that, if you were the character? I think it's retarded if you get kicks from it every time the character does that. Calm can also be cool, did you know :) Nervous isn't cool.

Also, Nach had some style-related wishes for your next SMB2 timeattack. I hope he'll post them. I hope you don't use so much left-right-left-right wobbling this time. It doesn't really look cool - especially if done all the time.

If a company patents "server bandwidth increase by a scheme where users use a program that shares part of the server bandwidth" or something like that and the patent is granted, the company can start demanding license fees from all developers and users of programs that fit that description, threatening with court. They are planning to allow that kind of patents be claimed.

I'd like to see a timeattack of TMNT more than of TMNT 2.

Bionic Commando has this one little wrapping glitch. I wonder if it could be used for benefit somewhere. https://files.tasvideos.org/bionictest.avi (size: 2 MB) [alt]when you use the grabbing tool near the screen edge, you can grab things that are on the opposite side of the screen, regardless of walls in between[/alt]
