What ambiuity? CaitSith2 is the nick he uses everywhere in the SNES and PSF scene.
When I got the file from him, it was named Caitsith2-shadowgate.zip or something like that. I assumed the 2 denoted the try number, as is my convention in the naming of those files. I did a google search for Caitsith and it returned a lot of results that had nothing to do with him. I thus assumed that the nickname is too common to be distinctive. The 2 being part of the nickname seemed like a bad idea. But I see now how it is.

Ok, I remembered wrong. You're right, it's being done in the 7-2 level too. Maybe it applies to other kind of items only.

Last time I checked you can't carry items via doors in that game...

Also applies to ROM trading or offering. If you do that, find some other media than the forum :)

I have tried the Dragon Quest 2 movie with "Dragon Quest 2 (J) [a1].nes" and "Dragon Quest 2 (J).nes" but both say "unknown opcode $FF at $FFFF". Portopia works fine, but it is very boring to watch if you don't understand Japanese. I don't have Dragon Slayer ROM.

Good for you. But please note that this forum is not a place to distribute ROMs.

I have a few movies made by him that I haven't published. - Portopia (Not your typical platform game - more like Shadowgate, but not very much) - Dragon Slayer (I don't have the ROM) - Dragon Quest 2 (I haven't watched this yet)

Similarlly very cool were those Mega Man 2 boss fights where you just _stood_ away from the fight room instead of walking. Very eerie looking - especially the one where you stood away from the room while facing the opposite direction.
-HOT DAMN! Rock Monster got ERASED. And I liked how you stood perfectly still, then jumped, then stood still, then slid, etc. Frankly, it was cooler than Morimoto. There, I said it.
I have to agree there was some nice style in that coreography. :)

- The Magnet Man level had a few places where I recall having played faster when I did it. Are you sure about that? Look at our times: Bisqwit-Magnetman(1:32): 1:24, 0:08 Sleepz-Magnetman(1:33): 1:19, 0:14
I didn't say the level as whole, but a few places. What you handled faster than me: - Protoman - The room where you used Rushjet What you did slower than me: - You stopped at 7:32 for a moment to shoot enemies - The beginning of the level (you let the flying magnets slow your movement)
This level is one second slower than yours, but I average about 10-30 sec faster on all other levels.
Indeed. Congratulations on that :)
I find that jumping while on rush slows the game down slightly, and also when you land on rush, it slows his movement for a fraction of a second. Its the same reason why I switched to rush marine instead of jet on Geminiman revisited, the game really seems to slow down when you use the jet.
It might indeed be that a jumping Mega Man uses more sprites than a standing Mega Man, thus causing more load. How to resolve: Kill more enemies ;) Ps: I just noticed that I encoded the movie with an exceptionally low bitrate. It was an accident, but hopefully nobody complains :P

Morimoto and his friends are working on an improved version of the Rockman 2 timeattack movie. It will be out within a month or so. I'm very curious to see what they come up with. From what I can understand, they have found something new to abuse at least in the Bubbleman level.

Speaking about Rock Man 5, I just received a ~40 minute movie of Mega Man 5 from Kopernical. He says it's not as good as the MM4 one though, but I'll publish it anyway if he doesn't announce starting a new version before I start encoding it. I also put the Double Dragon movies (III, II and 2 * I) on hold. They are the classic 2d streetfighting style games, and in my opinion they didn't look very impressive - but on the other hand, I don't like that type of games a lot. The Double Dragon movie I received from Mike Larson was timewise a little better than Phil's version and in my opinion it looked a little nicer in the beginning too, but he says he plans to improve all of them. If the fmvs are wanted enough, I'll post them at the Workbench.

I just typed ノー駄目 into Babel Fish and it translated it as No useless.
ノー is "noo", in a font that is used for foreign words - often for english. It could indeed mean "no". 駄目 is "dame" which means useless, but it is possible that the author has tried to type the english word "damage" somehow and the IME thought he wants to type "dame", useless. Well, this is just speculation. The movie plays damageless anyway.

The anonymous version you sent to me is 60:27 long. I already had a 52:29 long version by... apparently anonymous as well. It has "ノー駄目?" in its description (I don't know if it tries to say "no damage"). However neither of them looks impressive at all. :)

I seem to have put that message to a wrong box, effectively ignoring it. Sorry for that. Of course I'd like to know the author for all movies I publish, but it's not a reason to not to look at a movie.

I just started encoding the Mega Man 3 movie. It'll be published in an hour or two. Some of my favourite things: - Starting from Geminiman level was a total surprise to me. - The trick at the Protoman fight in Gemini Man level - Very accurate sliding overall - Weapon use was creative, all bosses were done very quick Generally, this video is almost as good as Kopernical's Mega Man 4 video. However, here are some things I didn't like: - Lots of unneeded energy refills were collected. - The Magnet Man level had a few places where I recall having played faster when I did it. - Fire accuracy was not as careful as in Kopernical's movie, but only very little worse than in Morimoto's Rockman movie. - Lots of useless refills collected in the revisited Needleman level. Did you know that Rushjet doesn't consume energy, if you jump on it? - One useless energy loss in the battle with Hardman. The mistake wasn't repeated in the rematch, though. - One useless energy loss in Heatman. - The instant kill was nice in Rock monster, but I liked the predictive jumping style of Morimoto more than the jumping and sliding style in this movie. The avi file of this movie has sound and video slightly in desync, because famtasia for some reason decided to insert lag somewhere that it removed only very late. I understand this movie was a lot of trouble to make, but I hope to someday see a version that has the above points improved. I publshed it, because: - the problems I saw were relatively small compared to the trouble this movie was to make - it was overall much faster and better than my (broken) version.

It's Princess' special ability. Anyone who has played SMB2 should know that. Princess hovers when you are airborne and press A. You don't need to have jumped to do it.

You can jump from a vine when you are just about to fall from it. It could take a few tries, but it's not challenging.

This is another one of the ideas I have been thinking about. So far I haven't tried to do something like that because I think the movies are too fast-paced to allow the audience to read the text :) Of course, pause is invented... but it's nicer if pause isn't needed when viewing the movie.
