The new SM64 0 star is the hardest TAS considering the precision and creativity. I have seen the effort of the team since they started and I can tell it's one of the most optimized TASes I have ever watched. None of the timesavers are obvious for a first time TASer and they required a lot of experience and insane creativity to come up with. IMO it's a very entertaining TAS and by far the hardest in the list, therefore it deserves the award.

This is the m64 kyman based his run in, changing the .st of course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eWF5bR492g&fmt=35 It doesn't require the special tj, and this video shows a more optimized version of how to climb the mountain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYcn68e6zKg&feature=channel_page http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTroYOeWe5Y&fmt=35 New strat for 2 stars in RR , cruiser and somewhere over the rainbow. A good thing to note is that lakitu's manipulation is easily possible in the 120 star run. One thing I noticed while doing the slope part is that once mario lands from the grind having no input in the dust frames lets mario do more walking frames before he slides down, allowing a smoother turn to the pole. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwdg01M9w54 A strat found by Myles that was put to work and proven to be fast by LalaSM64. Probably faster than doing the TJ wallkick previously used, as this avoids grabbing the ledge, it should be combined with this run in the 120 star run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C4MyKZwqF4 Also according to Lala, a glitchy wallkick and a grinded double jump can be performed, making the strat even faster

I really liked the idea of a btt/btp compilation, it is also possible to do luigi's btt and btp without a .st. Some times may be different from the japanese version like at luigi's btp since the compilation will probably be on the american version, but I really liked the idea. About the 1p mode run , I don't mind about doing either since I have already TASed both , it's just to know what the people here would like better.

I'm redoing the fastest time run of this game, with a ton of improvements. About the entertainment problem, I asked a lot of online players and yt watchers about what they tought of the videos, most of the people ( experienced and newbie players ) prefered the fastest time completion run , that's one of the reasons that I'm redoing it. SSB has a lot of random match TASes based in entertainment, but the 1p mode is pretty unexplored. A speed based run of this game is not only more entertainment than a lot of other games that are published in the site but it is also, by the sight of a lot of people, even better than the superplay run. About the new run: Many people said before that I should have done the btt stages in my last run instead of suiciding ( technically it's the same as deathwarping ), but on the other hand it may have unclear goals since It will be technically wasting time in order to gain entertainment. What should I do ? Do the bonus run for entertaiment or skip it for a faster time?

despite it being the fastest, it's the most entertaining mario 64 run ever :) i loved the slidekicks, the blj at bitfs, bits wallkick and most amazing of all , the whole bitdw. Amazing job.

submission, the re-record count isn't as high as I think should have been. In the Yoshi stage, the player even misses a Forward Aerial, if I remind correctly...
can you really criticize the run like this if u don't even know what a DJC is?

hey i'm currently working on a high score TAS of this game, i've finished corneria just now aking the alternative boss, which route should i take considering this map? i'm planning on taking the "hard" route until zoness, going to macbeth and then the hard route again, but i'm not sure if that will have more enemies than meteo - katina - solar - machbeth then area 6. Does anybody know which route should i take? also i'm on sector Y atm half way trough it 200 kills, maybe aqua will make up for meteo but i'm not sure.

all I was trying to say is chaining hits together really doesn't really give me the "tool-assisted feel" Also, another thing definitely missing in this run is taunt cancelling.
do not critize if u don't know what u talking about, try doing a DJC to spike with yoshi non-TAS or repeating any combo seen in the run, the best ssb players would take days to do it even once, also yoshi cannot taunt cancel, and if i choose any characther that could do it u would complain anyway at stages like DK and metal mario. What would give u a tool assisted feel ? not lconnecting hits ? Nothing can give u more of the tool assisted feel besides linking nearly impossible hits and doing frame perfect movements.

I've seen many SSB64 tournament videos, and most competitive players can pull off combos like those in the Link and Fox fights fairly commonly. Seeing combos people do in tournaments accomplished tool assisted doesn't really excite me much.
The combos used cannot be pulled out in a tournament fight, it's nearly impossible for a human to connect every hit in the DJC based combos and most attacks hit just a few frames before the enemy recovers, so it's not executable in a tournament match.

A captain falcon TAS would need a .st because cpt falcon is a "secret char". Thanks for the encodes guys.

at dk and metal mario, there really is no combo option and no item option the best u can do is just finish off right away or damage them like hell. As for fox and pikachu , theres not much to do because of the lack of walls at fox and the lack of combos at pikachu , the common non-TAS combo method wouldn't be cool at all so that was about the best those fights can get...

Comicalflop aimend for the highest score so he did stuff you people consider entertaining but wasn't affecting his goal, as i aimed for the fastest time i made it as entertaining as it could get.I don't taunt in the end of the stage to avoid getting the fighter stance bonus which takes time to show up, see my point?

I don't really think a 1P completion based purely on entertainment would be accepted so well here.

link has to appear, and it was best for him to appear as the last polygon. as for the samus fight , damaging her at the platform then killing takes a lot longer than damaging her while going to the edge of the screen. and for the bonus levels, people seem to be forgeting that i aimed at the fastest completion, even if i completed them, they wouldn't be as entertaining as you think and would make my run be a lot slower than the previous one. It's impossible to mix entertainment and speed in this game without losing a bit of those aspects than doing them separatedly if you know what i mean, even though most of the ssb players found the run to be VERY entertaining in terms of ssb fights.

Raiscan: did u count the ammount of yoshis left when i hit the red yoshi twice? it's even, going down to kill him is a lot slower also hitting him there makes the last two yoshis come at favorable positions. As for the last polygon , link polygon does a jump or a down + A when entering the screen, waiting for him to land or parrying the Dair is slower than killing him with a quick spike.
