well attack level ups tend to cost alot of exp in the us version, so thats a small hitch in the plan, I'd suggest masive manipulation of dropped items (blue bottles every 6th enemy would help) and mapping out where every hidden bottle is and remeber when you die you get all your mp back so that might speed things up a bit I used to play through the game in one sitting , and generally I hit all 8's by the time i got to level 6...so if you avoid life ups you could easily do it just concentrate on magic level ups annother thing that would be interesting to see is a second quest run through (once you beat the game you can play through it again with your spells and levels, could be fun to see how fast it could be done then)

can't wait to see it. be sure to abuse the wall clinb glitch once you get kong/moia it'll help you a great deal :-) (especially in goemon's level)

I just watched your movie, overal i'm impressed. a few points: theres a few spots where you could jump over walls (without the wall climb) to get through areas a bit faster 1. when leaving kong's level on your way back on the last section jump over the wall instead of using the ladder. 2. theres some spots in gestuffu's level you can do this too 3.less random jumping/punching in the air would make it look better. but with the new found warps and the wall clinb i'm looking forward to seeing your next run :-)

before i read about the warps in this thread I had no idea the game even had any. this game was a favorate when i was younger ( a kid moved to my neigborhood from taiwan and he brought a famicom and a ton ofo games wit hhim...that he consequently traded me for an extra nes i had) and i've been playing this game off and on for years, so needless to say I had to boot it up and find these warps. I've totaly scoured kong's level..and it appears he doesn't have one at all..maybe because his level is so short..and you find him right near the beginning anyways. ps I havn't watched your time attack (yet) but are you aware of the wall clinb glitch/trick? if not, once you get kong if you jump and switch charecters right next to a wall, you can do a double jump just as you switch to kong, if you're fast you can triple jump all the way to the top of high walls , makes some areas faster. anyways glad to see such a great game get some credit :-)

the warp for goemon's level is right here: http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/nes2/waiwaiwarp.png also if you didn't already figure it out, you can only use the warps once you've collected that stage's charecter.

one thing that would help greatly is manipulating the ratio of pieces that fall. when you have a long piece or a square (ie a more desirable piece) if you rapidly spin it this will increase the chances of gettibng that piece again (ever wonder why squares are "rare") if manipulated well, you can get more straight pieces then any other shape, thus improving the "run" drasticly (this works in any version of tetris nintendo/tengen/bps)

most of the levels had warp zones which might add to the interest/speed if you picked up a certain item and brought it to a secret room ,you'd warp to the next level. a good way to avoid the very difficult bosses

what i'd recomend is using pochi to get the last of the 4 crowns. the reason being, the boss dificulty is determned only by the order you pick up the crowns in and pochi can beat the 4th boss very easily compared to the rest of the family. also most of the charecters can use the power boots, those will save you a great deal of magic since you can use them to kill stuff just by jumping on them. also if you effect the randomness alot you can get the cross items to clear out enemies fast to get lots of items (money scrolls etc etc) the downfall of using the scrolls is your weapon fires faster and does less damage, but team that up with the boots and most charecters will have a n easy time. use of the red cyrstals early in the game would save alot of backtracking. also you don't need to use Xemm at all, you can beat his area with the girl (much easier) theres one or two tricky spots where you have to switch from the high jump boots to the matlock in mid jump to break a block, but it can be done. A really hard game that I only managed to beat a few times good luck

hmmm I assume slowmo/rapid pause.. i've played with it a bit and I'm guessing it has somethign to do with hitting left and right at the same time or a patern of alternating I can get mikey a little closer to a wall by doing so I'd try it on a real nes..but my copy of the game won't fit in my famicom converter just right (connector is strangely shorter then it should be) so no advantage ;-)

I hope this wasn't covered elsewhere (I looked) but the new goonies time attack has me stomped.. how do you sneak past the gates without the keys?
