He means 1 category being as fast as possible by any means necessary, 1 category being a no major skip, and the last category being 100%

About the route...are you sure you can megaflip past King Zora? Also, how do you plan to get back to Hyrule castle after JJB?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=e7VRH9Y3hcs That's how to megaflip past him, credit to Jetlagjad for that amazing find. And to get back I would warp to Desert Collosus, plant the seed, then deathwarp home.

Oh... I guess I don't know the layout of hyrule field as well as I thought. I saw the early cancel and a few sidehops before the backflip and assumed incorrectly. :) I do look forward to seeing more from Bloobibla, though!
Haha yeah if I would have kept going any furthur and then jumped the fence, I would be in the vicinity of that damn owl hiding in the tree. I do look forward to seeing more from Bloobiebla, though! - Yeppers i'll have another WIP in a while if people wanna see one Anyone have any advice on the child route?

Yeah I will use out of bounds, I have already used it in the Deku Tree. The only other significant OoB glitches I will be using that I can think of off the top of my head is the Forest Temple boss key skip and megaflipping past King Zora. Whatever optimal glitches I can use that don't involve skipping dungeons/temples/trials will be used.

Rupee Route Deku Tree Superslide to Gerudo Valley Cucco Jump Haunted Wasteland Spirit Temple Leave - learn Requim of Spirit Re-enter, complete - all the way up until Bombchus ------------------- Warp out of temple Death warp to house Superslide to Hyrule Castle, bombchu damage boost into castle Finish Zelda cut scenes Go to Kakariko, get bottle from cucco lady Continue up Death Mountain enter Dodongo's Cavern Bombchus 1,2,3 Dodongo's Cavern Ground jump to switch with Bombchu + Bomb Flower Continue.. use bombchu megaflip for Bomb Bag early Continue until end of dungeon Kill Dodongo, take Heart Container Bomchus 4,5,6,7 -------------------- Superslide to first fairy Owl to Kakariko, superslide to exit, superslide to Zora's River Bombchu rocks, contain ground jump Buy a seed from the seed seller Cucco up to Zora's Domain Bombchu megaflip past King Zora Jumpslash into Jabu Jabu's Belly Bombchus 8,9 Jabu Jabu's Belly Continue regularly until boomerang, bring Ruto into room with moving platform Megaflip to skip miniboss Continue until Barinade, defeat Barinade That's the fastest child route that I could come up with. It obviously doesn't include each trick involved but it has a brief outline of where i'd be going. I just finished the Spirit Temple so any changes I decide to make to it need to be done now so does anyone know of how things can be faster?

What about RBA? It can be used for some medals but I don't think you intend to use it. Using it for some things but not others seems odd. (Although I would understand why) You should clarify the run's stance on RBA as well.

The only reason I could possibly see this rejected would be for unclear goals. What you should do now is decided exactly what is acceptable and what isn't in terms of glitching. Then follow those rules and note them in the submission to clearly define the category of run this is.
Well the goals are all stones/medals and all Ganon wings completed. Glitchwise, I don't think anything will be unacceptable since I obviously won't be cheating. The run starts from the very moment of turning on the game, and the quality obviously isn't an issue.

That's very reassuring thanks hah, although I would understand why it would get rejected since it is a separate unneeded category. It was a personal desire to see how fast the run goal could possibly be accomplished but it would be awesome to have it online in some way when I finish. Also I think the level of optimization will only get better so we don't need to worry about it getting lazy or full of errors

Lol I think AKA saying that my TASing isn't as polished as he and SL implies that I need polishing, which is helpful in this situation. He deserves that recognition and some more rightfully anyway so lets not worry about it haha

About bombchus: It would be fastest to get from the well if only you could do the wall clip off the spider without needing zelda's lullabye. Learning that song has so many extra cutscenes that it's invariably faster to go to spirit temple.
Hmm, I'd have to take the egg from Malon and I wouldn't be able to do the moat skip. Also I'd have to wait x amount of time for the bridge to drop since it would be night when I got there. So I dont know.

If getting bombchus from the well is faster, how come the current submission doesn't do it?
I'm pretty sure it wasn't discovered at the time how to get the bombchus from the well quickly without having to use any bombs, but I'm almost positive it's faster to just get them from the spirit temple, or at least it's even. And with the discovery of megaflipping to the bomb chest, I don't think i'll be needing anymore than the 10 I get from the spirit temple.

Wow thanks a lot. SL I know exactly what you are talking about and I eventually discovered that it's faster to start by backwalking when I do it in the key chest room after the floormaster text. I just finished the Spirit Temple and besides very minor mistakes, one obvious mistake was that I forgot to get hurt down to half-heart before I warp out for the deathwarp, because I have to backflip off the ledge and THEN warp out, which costed me about a second since I didn't wanna go back and redo those megaflips. (manipulating those enemies for the megaflips took a very long time to figure out how to do it quickly) And about the ruppee, I didn't get it because the route I have planned out for the game involves me a couple other spots in the game to pick up 10 ruppees that wouldn't cost me any time. I think I'll post my child route later so that you all can tell me if it's optimal or not. I'd post it now but i'm not on my comp. I actually thought the superslide was angled almost perfectly, since I spent most of my time figuring out the fastest angle that involves me not having to slide on the fence. And AKA what exactly do you mean by "polish"? I know that some sidehops could be less delayed by a couple frames and some angle-changes could be a couple frames faster but I think i'm getting the hang of that but what exactly do you mean by polish? I can use all the advice I can get

Mupen runs great but everytime I record an avi and replay it, it just records the sound and no video. Is there a way to fix this?
I have Vista and I had this same problem.. right-click on your Mupen64.exe and click properties. Go to the compatibility tab and check the box "Disable desktop composition". Each time you open and close Mupen64 it should blacken your desktop for a second and that's how you know it's checked. Record using x264 on the default properties in 320 x ?? resolution and it should work perfectly fine with sound and everything. For a more compressed file size you'd have to ask someone else :( Also make sure you are using VLC media player or Quicktime. Windows Media Player for me tends to just play the sound.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/969947762/THE%20LEGEND%20OF%20ZELDA%20%28USA%29.m64 There are the obvious minor mistakes like the rare delaying after a sidehop but that improves as the run continues. Also consider the fact this is my first TAS besides a couple Rupee routes to get me started.

Yeah.. what really inspired me to make a no major skip or an all stones/medallions run of OoT was Kazooie's no major skip run and I wanted to see how fast it could possibly be done with all the possible tricks that could have been used and all the "TAS-only" tricks discovered since. So in that case I will include the Ganon trials. I actually showed a short video of a Rupee Route to SL not too long ago when I first started TASing under the YouTube name "Metal1Link", but i'm positive that this run I have going now is much more precise and optimal. So far I am just about to get the bombchus from the chest in the Spirit Temple as a kid and I have been working on it every now and then for about a month and a half now. Where can i upload the m64?

Well since the topic has been recently been brought up, I've been working on an all stones/medals TAS regardless of it being on the site or not, although I am not very well known in the OoT community... Just one thing, should it be a "no major skips", which includes all Ganon trials, or an "all stones/medals, which would leave out the trials?
