I found this run impressive, but not particularly entertaining. As others have stated, the tricks do become a bit repetitive over time. Perhaps this could be published as a demo, but otherwise I don't think it's fit for publication. Voting no, sorry.

Technically, MKV doesn't require any codecs as it's a container format.

I've seen that film. It is interesting.

And what period of time would constitute one "frame"? A planck time? If so, optimizing even a single second of "gameplay" would take a ludicrously long amount of time.
I've heard that brain signals travel at about 60 m/s, so probably on that order.

I don't get it. So bad it's horrible, in my opinion.

You did indeed use left+right after the miniboss, which caused Sparkster to stay put rather than to go left. It surprised me that one could improve over Nitsuja's run so much. 8.3/9.3/obvious yes

Well, consider your position for a while. You're not a peer to God.
I sympathize with Neophos in that I could never (again) adhere to an Abrahamic religion, not just because of the metaphysics, but also because they seem to have their root in authoritarianism.

Actually we don't know the origin of that practice. I didn't think that it came from grammatical gender, though, because "scip" and "land" both had the neuter gender.

I understand the need to combat anthropocentrism, but this I find misleading. No other species has the ability to think rationally or to manipulate objects (via an opposable appendage) on the same level as humans. Currently, only humans have the potential to improve themselves. Of course this whole discussion about what "sets [humans] apart" I consider entirely subjective, but I think that we should still recognize the facts.

I sort of take Bisqwit's side on the money issue. Jesus seemed to advocate socialism/communism in the NT. Nowever, I think that Neophos referred to Christians who say to give money to a church rather than to charity.

Though noncognitivist sceptics such as me deny that statements about "God" have any scientific content.

I would think that LagDotCom's post would discourage reproduction. At least I read it as intended that way. By the way, with the development of nanotech, we will soon be able to control our own evolution. Just thought I would point that out.

The only advice I can add is not to think of certain actions as "wrong". Warp: I like that site you linked. edit: On second thought, it seems a bit misogynist and anti-feminist, but other than that I like it.

Actually, emulators were around in 1997, when I was 9. I didn't start using them until I was 12 or 13. (And I don't worry about it.) I'm going by the information given in Wikipedia, which says that it represents the ratio of citizens who "said that they could have a conversation in" the language.

moozooh: I had not thought of that. Only 59% of Belgians over 15 speak English. All this, however, only indicates that nooodl probably uses the Internet avidly. Out of curiosity, nooodl, which language do you speak natively?

I'm impressed by your age. I didn't join until I was 18, and when I was 12 I don't believe I had heard about emulators yet. Welcome to the community.

I got all of them except 2, 4, 8, 12, and 15. 9 should be obvious if you've read the webcomic. 3 took me a while to enter; I tried just about every combination before I tried the obvious one.

don't buy an Apple laptop if you intend to use a libre OS. I did that with a Mac mini and the results didn't satisfy me. aside from the startup sound which one can't disable, it would wait ~50 s to boot, and couldn't boot from USB. I also found it very difficult to upgrade, though I don't know whether that also applies to laptops.

It's only because of emulators intentionally avoiding core randomness (to help with reproducing and fixing bugs, netplay, movie playback, etc) that TASing is possible.
actually, it's possible to record that randomness in the movie file. but yeah. I think that this discussion should be moved to the Snes9x forum.

it seems like this raises the issue of whether emulators should potentially be programmed to be able to reset between frames. is this possible on a physical console? I'm assuming that resetting sends an interrupt to the CPU, in which case it seems that such an interrupt could occur on any cycle.
