I don't understand why something should be discussed first when the change is clearly within the rules of the site (which in this case it is). What I have not seen in the rules (am I not looking hard enough?) is any hint at all that the change should be discussed first. If in fact it should be discussed first, the rules should be changed to include that information.
Here, i'll officially add it for you.

For the record this is my opinion on the subject. It is also the only option that isn't contradicted by precedents. EDIT: For this game in particular, I find it to be a good chocie because all the debating over the pros and cons really shows that neither one is clearly better than the other.
This is what I was actually leaning to when I updated it to delayed for more information. Baxter, Phil isn't 'wasting his time' updating the (J) version. He has said that even if (J) version was obsoleted and (U) became the only acceptable version he would still make the run; if only to put it on his own website. Combining this fact, JXQ saying he doesn't even care about publication, there being no rush to even publish the run, and that I was thinking 4) anyways. I stand by my decision to wait until the (J) version is done. We will only get a higher quality run this way. Also we avoid the potential of having another huge debate if when the (J) run is finished it turns out to be way faster than the recently published (U) run. Moral of the story: If you are going to switch versions, or start a run with a different version other than (U). Make a post about it first, so that it can be discussed.

I tried a NES Micromachine TAS. That got boring very quickly. Syndicate Plus would be a smashing run I think. Crusader would be interesting, what with all the explosions. Most of the Apogee games would be good (As most people have played them). Duke Nukem, Crystal Caves, Secret Agent, Monster Bash, Hocus Pocus, ect. The Ultima games anyone? (VIII) Maybe i'll do a Night Shift run :O

I think this is a very bad choice.: - If both runs will be published, then there was no need for the wait. - If only the US version will be published, then someone is going to spend lots of time on a run that is going to be rejected, which is a pure waste of time for that person. - If only the J version will be published, then why not decide now? We can already see the US version, and we know how the J version is going to look.
<BoltR> jimsfriend, currently there are 25 runs in queue <BoltR> It's not like delaying it is going to stem the flow of videos <Bisqwit> Yes, deciding on that particular TAS is not an issue of utmost urgency. JXQ, the run isn't just 'possibly going to be completed', it is something that WILL happen. Delaying to see the result of the run won't do anything but help people make a better, more informed decision. What does it matter if it's delayed anyways? People can still watch the fcm of your run. It's the same argument someone used against Phil. Except the chances of someone watching something in the workbench is much higher than in the obsolete bin.

What if we make a secret hidden underground clubhouse, where only people that haven't come down with cootieitis can get into? FODA! That's amazing! You can turn your head 180 degrees! I thought only owls could do that!

Latest version total breaks my vbm. I open it up, save it without changing anything, and it causes the run to desync. Lucky I made backups. It seems to be missing a keypress now or something.

I mean the regular ingame lag, when the game delays updating the RAM/gfx values for a frame.
I believe it increments the in game frame counter every frame, not every frane the RAM/gfx have been updated...

It doesn't matter for the ingame time, but does for everything else.
Or does it? It did for MZM. Granted, that lag might be a little different.

Do you have an older computer? You could try turning off any filters if you have them on.

I think you can manipulate the Jawas to drop weapon upgrades? EDIT: Well, good news and terrible news. First the good news: You can manipulate Jawas to drop what you want! Joy! Bad news: You aren't ever going to do this. Infact, I suggest you actually stop making this run until snes9x 1.5 is ready, or whatever version of zsnes. No it's not because of the sound (though I now have a headache after making this for you), but because the emulator will desync. The first time I manipulated the Jawas I got three Vader Masks. Played it back, and I got a time extend and two nothings. Ok... Manipulated again (keeping the clock) and got a lightsaber and a thermal detonator. Played it back and got nothing. Tried again, don't remember what I got, but it turned out as nothing on playback. Decided to just try to manipulate one drop instead of two. And after about 15 tried I got a shield. Good luck getting a gun at that rate. On a side note: The speeder level isn't going to be fun. As shown you can manipulate Jawas to appear instead of random terrain items. The speed at which you approach the sandcrawler is based on how many Jawas you kill, not on how far you drive. YOU CAN MANIPULATE IT MUCH BETTER THAN I DID. I JUST DID AS A PROOF OF CONCEPT. Also, I can see people's motion sickness setting in... Edit2: Ahahah I just downloaded it from microstorage and watched that, and the second Jawa didn't drop the shield that time. Oh boy, good luck trying to get a detonator before each boss.

My excuse for those game overs is lag! Yep, lag! Also, the first is way more entertaining than the second if you ask me. (I'm the red guy)

The levels will get less boring after the first one. Was taking the extra few steps before the first sand pit faster than just jumping right away? You seemed to stop for a while before the last scorpion, but not the previous ones. Looks strange, might not be fixable I guess. The boss is manipulating is going to suck, but as you said it's possible to make him pop out right away. After that it's possible to manipulate it into never submerging again.

Well, one could point out that with all the runs in the queue, why is an encoder going to bothering encoding that is already on youtube before any of the other videos? Providing it's not a game like Mario or Sonic I suppose, but those seem to follow a different set of rules or something. Edit: Apparently my post wasn't clear; I wasn't saying it would never be published. I meant the order which it gets published in. Why encode something which has already been encoded, when there are 40 other things which haven't. Why does it deserve to be bumped to the front of the line over other runs which have been waiting for months. Especially when it already has an 'avi' floating around out there.

Go for it. I think that I am the only one who can play it back properly, but I haven't been able to get around to it yet. Graduating in a few weeks, so my life is pretty busy at the moment....

For a while it was a guy using Faust that was winning tournaments. At least with GG it doesn't really matter which character you play, if you are good enough you can still surprise people and win a tournament (or at least place well).

As my Japanese skills are less than non-existent, would it be possible for you to tell us how the glitch works? It would help in tracking down why it doesn't work in VBA. Also, do you know if it works on the handheld?

Oh man, why would you save that for the last lap and not just use it as much as possible? It's glorious!
