Goals wise, I would like to see as close to 100% kills on as many levels including secret and bonus as possible. Kill as much as possible everywhere and collect as much money as possible without missing any kills.

Cannot say that I am a fan of the darkness/headlights feature.

I wonder how many other Bosses and mid-level Bosses the Force (Shield) as a weapon trick helps with.

I always assumed that everyone hated Falco. You know, just like everyone knows that Slippy is... uh... "Fabulously Advantaged(tm)". (NTTIAWWT.)

A Sim City TASs may be most interesting played at the hardest imaginable difficulty. Perhaps a 600k population on the map with the lowest land to water ratio and no money cheat.

Wicked run, I love it. I seem to recall that after Live Force is cleared it restarts at a higher difficulty. For instance, the arms shoot little fire balls. Is there a code to start at this higher difficulty level? If not an argument could be made for a save-state start. Also, it could be a very flawed memory of mine, (perhaps I am getting this confused with Tyrian) but I seem to recall the the big yellow claws/hooks/thorns in the middle of level one are killable. I have a vague memory of concentrating a lot of laser fire with options while playing two player with my little brother and killing one of them.

Suicide is seriously not a joke and it should never be treated as such.
Never is such a strong word. I'll grant that intentional suicide is not a matter to be taken lightly. Accidental suicide such as auto-erotic asphyxiation can be very amusing depending on what is found in the DVD player by the authorities.

This is the first time I have seen Gradius II. Graphically, it is very impressive for the NES. I remember goofing around with Life Force about 20 years ago. I discovered that the boss of the first level could be killed with the shield. Is there any chance the shield could be used as a weapon in this game?

Yes, any update would be welcome. The WIP was most enjoyable and I am eagerly looking forward to more.

I could be very, very wrong... But I seem to remember than I could come down in between two goombas seperated by one full sprite and squash both getting 100 and 400 points.

The first boss (Golem?) can be killed the moment it opens its eye. Just nudge the eye with the force shield. You lose the shield. Perhaps this could be used on other bosses as well. There are two levels of force, I forget what level it takes to kill the 1st boss. Are the large yellow claws in the middle of the first level killable? There is a hard mode after clearing the game, can the hard mode be accessed early with a code or something and then used for the run?
