This is awesome! I can tell from watching this Prologue that this run is going to be quite entertaining and FULLY optimized especially from 0Jwn's run. Great stuff, CoolKirby!
Is the SM64 team going to use that route for the full 120-star run? Or do they have to collect 100 coins with that star?
They actually collect the 100 Coins with the Red Coins. I only know that because they have a bunch of WIP's Comparison Videos on their Nico Page that are incredible to watch. I recommend everyone to watch them!!!!

I can't wait for teh TAS awesomeness! SICK star is SICK!
Can't turn on read only while a game is paused, in 291 =x
Try going to Options > Hotkey Settings and setting a hotkey for "Read-only mode". Then you can press it when the game window is active to toggle read-only. That should always work even when emulation is paused.
I was also thinking about TASing the game, but my computer wasn't powerful enough to handle the emulation. I would've needed a new computer. :(
No computer is going to run dolphin at 60 fps with tasable settings, since you have to turn off dual core, and idle skipping. I've been tasing on my laptop which runs at about 15-25 fps, and it's not a problem at all. It's a bit annoying when playing back to check for desyncs, but it makes no difference when actually tasing. I'd say that as long as your computer isn't 10 years old and not capable of even running dolphin, you should give it a shot.
Ah, okay. I'll look to see if I can give it a try. I've once tried to run Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door on my computer using Dolphin 3.0 awhile ago. However, the lag was TERRIBLY slow, and I couldn't even get to the file-select screen.

This is for anyone who wants to go for a 100% run of this game. He has gameplay videos of completing the levels 100% (collecting tokens don't count for the 100% run though). Someone could get the idea of route planning just by watching those videos. :P

Thanks. I've noticed something was missing in the link.
I have one question about Collect the Caps. Have the SM64 team ever tried BLJing up the sub (gaining speed) and wall jumping all around through the back wall into the star?
You can't BLJ on the sub. It's too slippery. Even if we could, you'd need something to do the speed conversion, since you can't wallkick with backwards speed.
Ah.
Have the team ever tried BJLing on the side of the tower/tail (with Bowser's face on it) to gain speed/momentum? Would that help?
Thanks. I've noticed something was missing in the link.

That was found in January...
Has anything that is actually new popped up lately? I haven't been keeping up with SM64 since around mid-July (aside from the 0 Star run...since I was an author).
I've heard the Japanese TASers were putting the 120-star run on hold and are currently TASing a BLJless 70-star run. But I did see this video recently.

Awesome! It's very nice to see someone doing a TAS of this game.
@CoolKirby: Have you set up a goal time for your run yet? Or you're just getting there.
