This game was tripping alright. A decent yes-vote.

I did rewatch this, and my statement still stands. It shows awesome portions of how stealth is not supposed to be done, and it still gets the work done. Awesome game, awesome run.

I'm gonna be as clear as I can, though I can already see the wall ramming my head. The issue is not the 40 frame missed jump, or the fact that the third boss looks really sloppy, or that many jumps look unoptimized. You should compare to the Genesis-version TAS on how to tackle boss 3. And yeah here comes the issue: THE GAME IS A PIECE OF JUNK. Look, it's slower and far inferior to the Genesis-version. Why publish a run of a crappy game, when you can have one of a better game? Make your next TAS an improvement to the Genesis-run and it will surely be published. Because that's what improvements do.

What prevented me from watching the WIPs was my lack of interest in Chuck Rock for the Game Gear. I am not a good Samaritan enough to watch every single WIP posted to state my opinion. Like the rest, I only watch what I like and what I would like to see a finished run of. This is not something against you. Also this game has a clear disadvantage due to http://tasvideos.org/827M.html. This game is the same, but far inferior in terms of entertainment. That's the major reason why I voted no.

No. First of all, why did you drop into the acid in level 1? You can easily make that jump, saving at least 40 frames. I haven't done any other testing, but a quick look at the TAS makes me fear that it's just the tip of the iceberg. Also there were segments where you picked up some bonus food or whatever which clearly looks like it caused lag in an already wounded game. Also the second boss strategy really looked awful Is it not possible to constantly hitting him without taking damage? Plus I wondered if you had to do all that extra input after killing the boss or if the final credits etc. will appear anyway. The lack of music doesn't make the game more interesting either. Finally, I see no reason to approve of this run when it's pretty much the same game as the Genesis version except slower, no music, and overall less interesting. EDIT: Thanks jf <3

It's not about status or lack thereof. It's about bringing a new console to the site which allows for a wider fanbase, more members, more TASers, and more TASes of hopefully high quality. Also.
1) Since when has a run, which the author himself admits is sloppy, been publishworthy?
There are known cases of this yes. I could bring them up if you wish. There are also cases of runs known by everyone and their mums to be improvable but they still got published so yeah. It might not be a rule but it happens for the greater good.

I call publish. While this game is not the most entertaining game to TAS (Like any Mario-game, SMW and SMB2u excluded(Self-pwn I know, but I don't like SMB3 too much)), it's still publishworty and most importantly, brings a new console to the site. I think it would be folly to wait 3 months for the first NDS-TAS to be published, especially when one which at very least is publishable exists.

I appreciate the help. Also, like I said, I think this movie is publishable, especially in terms of entertainment. I shall see if the speed potion is good enough to use on a level on which you just run from left to right, or if that long menu sequence costs too much time. EDIT: I voted yes.

This is better but still suboptimal. It is about 400 frames slower than my no longer secret WIP halfway through level 5 - 3. I just started an improvement to that WIP, and I am 92 frames ahead of it after level 1 - 3. That being said, your run contains a handful of great strategies which I shall implement in my run, and I feel that it looks good enough to be publishable, seeing how I most likely will take a long time to finish this run.

Isn't this game one long mother? Well I might as well give some advice instead of just ranting. Hold Up + Down and press B to use the light saber before finding it in game. I dunno if it helps but oh well \o/

This run is unfortunately sub-par. I have yet not watched it, but it is slower than an old testrun, http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1103585345/World%207%20FIN.gmv and the submission text mentions skipping one boss, when actually 3 bosses are skipable, the ones in worlds 2, 3 and 6. Also I do have another WIP which is played through the relic pickup in 5 - 3 and it is 1310 frames faster than the run I linked to. You should read the Decap Attack-topic for more information, http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6552

I am lacking words to describe how absolutely awesome this run was. Seriously. It was like wow. I'm still struggling on stage 1 of the run though, seeing how gaining one frame in the level would make fade in before the boss 8 frames faster. Aaaaanyway fawking A man.

What's "perfect entertainment" then? Also as far as I know Recca did some work on this game a while back.

So I've tried to watch this run 3 times and not yet managed to sit through it. Am I allowed to rate it then?

I wasn't exactly sure what to make of the author's comment embedded in the movie file that proclaims "I AM THE MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE AND LIKE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLIEZ", but I guess the earlier a TAS surprises the viewer the better, and here you already managed to surprise me before I even started watching it...
I can so not explain that :) I started this run in like late September and then forgot that I added it back then.
