Turok. I finally sat through a N64-run and did not get the "Meh, wasted time"-feeling. It even got me interested in TASing something of my own!

It's not as much "which game they rank" as it is "let them beat every game once and see which one they play the most after that". Because that basically consustutes the fun factor of any game, ever: as soon as the plot twists, secret endings, and unlockable characters are behind, the only thing left that matters is, that's right, the gameplay process. And it's not as easily influenced as verbal representation of the said rank, because people pathologically like to convince themselves of things that should be, but aren't there.
Yeah well. I didn't mean "Get to the credits, then decide which game pwns the others", I meant more like "Play the games and then find out which one gives the most cravings". Sorry for the confusion.

I would like to call OoT a horrible designed game. Sorry. Gayme. It doesn't exactly add something awesome to the gaming industry, and it has loads of portions of the game only put in there to artificially expand the time you have to put down on the game (The same flaw as much of the Metal Gear/Solid-series has, especially MG2:SS, I mean, Hideo, we love you and all but running up towers is not _that_ fun for 2 games). OoT also is ruined by the god damn fairy, and any game with such easy to overcome auto-targeting practically admits that its controllers are not as good as they could be. Sure it's a decent piece of firewood, but no way that it's "N-N-N-NUMBER ONE!!", at very best, OoT should consider itself lucky if it ended up on the top 50. Besides, dig out 100 people who never ever played a video game, let them play Tetris, OoT, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario World and Halo and see which game they rank highest. (I'm not saying "NEWEST IS BESTEST", not at all, but I am saying that OoT is not that great of a game) Nostalgia is a great thing, until we go back and play it. Something "Top 100000 gaymes of all times" never really figure out.

Holy fuck. I had to run home during lunch to be able to finish watching this! I'm rating it off the chart.

Needless to say, the ratings were much lower too:

A lot of 2D-runs get lower average rating, especially entertainment rating, because people who dislike 2D rates them. And yeah I can give examples. So this is a more and more occurring event. Just a heads up.

I vote for cardboard as most productive, for making *4* super metroid runs, as well as other runs that aren't just measly sub 10 minute easy cheesey runs.
Are you sure you didn't mean to say "for not making *4* Super Metroid runs" ;)
I made 5 in secret!

Test run. So yeah I am redoing this run right now. Cheers. Also this test run is not too well executed I'm afraid. It doesn't even finish the game! Holer.

Speaking of "guidelines" and "rules" that you like so much. "Don't TAS for ego or pride". Double fail. Hello. It's snowing!

JXQ's Skate Or Die 2 stayed there for about 13,5 months (Submitted on 2005-07-19, published 2006-11-02) and it's the first that comes to my mind when one talks about long time in workbench.

I voted 8/abstained. This is what Zelda-runs should be. No more than 5 minutes. Also lol at the final boss

It's not even close to the "Sit in the workbench for longest time"-record afaik. But yeah.

I really can't watch this. I sit down and watch it. 4 minute intro. Then some chatting with a computer. Then some high class action which is frigging awesome. Then some more chatting with the computer. Repeat for a while. Then I stopped watching. And I remember the last run reaaaally dragging when it came to the final run-around-and-get-items. I dunno if this run has that, but if it has, then meh. I mean the actual parts that _can_ make a good TAS, the action parts, are fucking awesome, and a great job with that. But the game is a can of fail, in my opinion. Well I will abstain from voting and wish for an encode which skips all the computer cutscenes, intro and speeds through text boxes. That one, I most likely will like, since it is the actual TAS. Oh well \o/ Will abstain from voting.

Might I ask where?
Sure. And I can answer as well. The Poison Worm in CotM in the third room which drops a Magic Gauntlet. Looking back, I should have used the first worm for that, oh well!

Also I think you should change "very high luck manipulation" into "manipulates luck".
Maybe I should give a better example then: Manipulating 10 out of 10 Supers from the Elite Pirates without entering the pause screen is a chance of "~0.0000323 %" according to Kejardon, which he should know best of us. If that's not a very high luck manipulation that in fact costed me almost a week to get without slowdowns, then I don't know what is.
I spent 40000 re-records on one enemy in one of my runs, it took me 4 weeks. I labeled it as "Manipulates luck". It's a matter of if you do it, not the degree of how much you do it. Well whatever.

One reason that people might not want to make Super Metroid-runs is because they are tired of hearing "I can do better, I found this in real time 7 years ago :-)". And no, I am not kidding.
Yes, that's what you have to expect on a popular game like this. The competition level is very high there, you just have to face it.
Yeah of course. But telling people that they are way worse than you does not help the competition, it leaves a game in a situation where nobody gives a fuck. But yeah, have fun in your paradise of nobody-gives-a-fuck-Land. I'm off.

Also I think you should change "very high luck manipulation" into "manipulates luck". And believe it or not, I haven't gotten around to even download this submission yet. And I doubt that I will. Also I have seen runs being redone from scratch because something was found in the first stage/third room which might or might not end up faster because of RNG. It takes a whole load of effort and sometimes 100k re-records. But it's worth it. Have fun ignoring the vital parts of this post and only go for the fishy looking sentences!

While I have to say your run is only known to be improvable by 15 seconds RIGHT NOW, historically some new trick or something will pop up and will allow this run to be obsoleted by several minutes.
Never. Trust me, there is nothing left this time that could obsolete it by whole minutes. It would only be possible with significant gamebreaking glitches that allow you to do major skips, but then again, it wouldn't be a glitchless, legit run like this one. 0:27 is the limit here, ask anybody who knows at least a bit about Super Metroid, they will tell you the same thing.
I thought you said the same thing about Chrono Trigger and yes that is the same thing. That being said I haven't watched the run so maybe you are right but yeah. What do I know. Maybe you should pick your words more carefully to avoid things like this to happen. Maybe I will watch it some day when I get bored enough.
