rog, I cannot rate this TAS from a technical perspective. I have no idea how well played this is and posts in this topic claiming that the next TAS with these rules most likely will use a different route makes me want to rate this low on tech as it most likely is using a suboptimal route. However, I am not sure of this and therefore I abstain from voting. And yes I have clearly disapproved every TAS of this game ever. This is no exception. I don't see why this wouldn't allow me to watch new TASes of the same game. As for me just hating OoT, that's not the point. I don't like Majora's Mask, the game, but I like to watch TASes of that game. I am known for suddenly changing opinion from hating a TAS to loving a later one of the same game if the TAS is awesome enough. The game at hand here is Super Mario Bros. 0 in entertainment is not unreasonable. 10 would be more unreasonable than 0, considering even the author admits that the cutscenes are boring and unskipable (see latest any%-submission topic) and most viewers seem to agree on this as it's a desperate witch hunt going on to make them as short as possible. You cannot really say "ignoring those parts, this run was a 10/10", because one can use the same argument for giving paint drying 10/10.

That one.
That's too bad :( Well with the sound on mute and while TASing another game, I managed to sit through this. Voting yes for the sake of obsoletion.

The 56 minute one or the one that completes a lot of stuff but does not reach 100%?

Of course you are. Though i have to ask, why do you watch and rate movies you have zero interest in?
Yeah, that's also what I don't get. When there's a run submitted of a game that I'm not even a bit interested in I simply ignore it, because I'm capable of understanding, that I'm definitely not the right person to judge it. As I've never played Chrono Trigger, I couldn't stand the TAS of the year 2009, the Chrono Trigger any% run. There's nothing about it, that seems entertaining to me, but I still kept myself away from voting, because I understand, that it must be an amazing movie to all the fans of the game. Same thing applies to almost all RPGs published on this website. Why don't you simply do the same, Cardboard?
I totally agree. All runs should have 100% yes-votes and 10/10 in rating. Otherwise, someone with a different opinion might have watched the run and that's just bad. You should never say what you want to say, only agree with the ones who know anything about a game. From this point forward, I expect nothing but 10/10 on all my TASes from the 2 people who know enough about the game to vote. While I don't really give many dimes about abortions and the death-penalty themselves as I doubt I'll ever have to do with either of them, I still state my opinion in the matter. And why did you decide not to watch a TAS that you decided beforehand that you would not like. I like to contribute by voting and rating. Maybe I shouldn't. Shall I PM you, MrGrunz, each time I might feel like watching a TAS, and ask what my opinion will be BEFORE WATCHING THE TAS? This particular TAS could have blown my socks off to the next alternate universe. But guess what. It didn't. Hearing Link go "Uhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh" in a game I don't really like from the beginning doesn't help. Now, I'm not always like that. For instance, I really like the TAS of Mario 3, but I don't like the game that much. I really love the crap out of the Solomon's Key-TAS, even though I don't like that game that much. I don't decide before if I'm gonna like a TAS or not, therefore I vote and/or TAS. Also I find it very fucking funny that the low-raters are being demonized while the 10-raters aren't, even though both extreme values are supposed to be used sparingly. I wonder what I missed in the unskipable cutscenes that was just that great to warrant a 10 in entertainment. But you know what, whatever. I removed my ratings on every TAS since I'm not allowed to rate. Happy now?

I couldn't sit through this. Not with sound activated, or sound muted, or watching something else at the same time. The game simply does not appeal to me. I am not entertained. This has nothing to do with the author, I rated the first OoT-TAS by Guano 0.0/ - as well, and that was _with_ JXQ's commentary, and for the record, I respect the shit out of Guano. The game is just that bad for this type of... "play" imo. Also I don't like the screenshot for this TAS. It doesn't make me want to watch the run. Just saying. I hope I'm entitled to stating my opinion.

I have my ratings hidden, but for this, I voted 0.0 / - I refrained from voting on tech because I don't know enough about the game tech-wise, and because it has been mentioned by people who seem to know this game much better than me that this route most likely will be obsolete by the next TAS following these rules, making it hard for me to consider this tech-wise well done.

Last i checked, you are not required to explain your votes.
I do believe it helps the judges make a desicion. Last I checked, you weren't supposed to claim that other members made bad desicions and that their votes are silly and wrong.

This blows on so many levels. I love the shit out of the Actraiser-TASes. I wish I could have gotten the chance to work alongside him at some point. May he rest in piece. zidanax, you will be missed.

Thanks for the encode, Swordless Link! You know, this is hard to decide upon. It was short - it might have had some tricks that might interest people, but it is not at all interesting to watch. The sounds effects are very repetetive and even if it is as fast as possible it looks very sloppy because you are constantly hitting the walls (might be to gain speed, but it still looks way off). Now I understand that this is a prototype and all, but overall, I'm afraid I might have to go with bad game choice and hence vote no. Also you didn't use the J-ROM which is widely accepted in the Wildwaters Extreme Kayak-community.

Wow, all of you who like this are so queer. ... ... AND SO AM I!!! (end of Family Guy-reference) I absolutely loved this. Couldn't look away for a single frame, I dared not even blink, knowing that I might miss something awesome! Excellent job!

Hey guys I might be out of my league, but what do you think of this as the publication screenshot? Frame 59192, uncompressed and stuff. What do you guys think? Might be a bit dark and messy, I admit that.

Wait you guys aren't gonna redo the title screen, knowing it's improvable by a bit? I mean I'm not even sure mine is optimal, the game was some laggy mess there.

Dudes I half-assed the title screen and improved it by 15 frames versus spiky and 7 frames versus VGR. Relax, rushing takes you nowhere. http://hansomspelartvspel.se/garbage/CrashTitleS.vbm

How much time would you expect to gain in the whole run by taking damage and/or being slain and having your organs harvested?

Yes.

I'm not sure it even needs to be said but it seems for a long time people have been of the mindset "Only my favorite games should be on the site, if I don't like the game that means it's a bad TAS".
No.
Cheezwizz wrote:
Seriously people. Unless a game has absolutely no space for TAS improvement or is a text adventure, there's hardly a reason to give up on it.
Agreeing slightly.
Cheezwizz wrote:
It seriously can't be taking up that much space on the site that hosts 5 different runs of each popular game that you would have to deny it just because you don't like the game.
But if we don't like the game, or the TAS, are we not allowed to vote no? On the contrary, would it not be very damaging to only watch runs of the games we know we like? I mean, I've TASed several games I've never played in my life. Because they seemed to be games suited for TASing.

As far as gameplay goes - obviously, Warcraft 2 wins. It took what Warcraft had done, and made it better. However, this is where movies are different - you can't do a sequel to Citzen Kane that is the exact same movie with just upgraded graphics, a few new characters, and other tweaks. A video game series, on the other hand, can and often does just that. Warcraft needs to be judged, not on gameplay alone, but on its impact to the industry. Otherwise, a top whatever list is just going to be nostalgic crap mixed in with the current best of every game type. Anyway, I was curious on Cardboard's thoughts.
Gameplay wise, I'd say that FFIII differed quite a lot from FFI and II. For starters, you had the most amazing job-system ever found in a video game up until FFV, somewhat related to the job-selection in FFI, but then again not, since you could switch on the go this time around. The four hereoes of light were quite similar to the heroes from FFI, since they were pretty much one of the many, each separate one made no difference to the plot, as opposed to FFII, where the characters really played a special part in the plot. III felt more like an enhanced version of I in my opinion (Crystals were back, no evil human empire, jobs, "regular" leveling system), which is all fun and games, because I love FFI and FFIII. I believe that the biggest issue was that this game wasn't released outside of Japan until as late as like, 2006 - 2007, in a decent DS-version I believe (unless there was a Wonderswan-release before that one), giving it little chance to really shine as the masterpiece I believe that it is. ...aaaaaaanyway, my guess would be that someone who ranks MW higher than SMW, or 99 games higher than Mass Effect, doesn't include E.T. and does not really motivate why the games are where they are on the list hasn't even played the original Final Fantasy III. I think I'm more interested if 1997 meant Final Fantasy VI. Following some activity in this topic, a "master topic" (similar to the "put all your crappy youtube videos here"-topic) with "list your 10 favourite games through all times" where people could post 10 games, motivate, and bash each others' opinions sounds like something that'd fit right up TASvideos' alley! Also it would fare best if was some kind of version of IronSlayer's idea with genre-based rankings. And I would pay every cent (50...) I have to be able to see that version of Citizen Kane.
