Check out frame 19425 - 19470. Pressing down to become a spider ball as Samus lands (As a ball) throws her away in the direction you're moving. Not useable on flat surfaces, but can be used on areas like the one I used it on in my WIP.

No, it was the right movie, but the point is not the battle itselt, it's how it ends. No explosion sequence /o\ The metroid dies without dying. Also, this is just my test version, so this won't be my submitted version in the end. By the way, have you used the Spider Throw at some point yet?

Okay here are my first 19600 frames, and Alter, you might find the way the last Metroid battle ends (Frames 19150-isch) VERY interesting, I'm afraid :/ http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4318/SamusIsHawt.vbm Unless you stumbled upon this yourself and already started to use it, of course. Believe me eventhough this is a great time saver (About 55 frames per Metroid), I think it will be hard to manipulate every Metroid into dying like this, like the ones in the sand seas etc, so don't even bother redoing due to this, I mean, it's too hard to get this shit right, so I don't think anyone would blame you.

I have to agree with upthorn here. While it's a BADASS run, extremely well performed all the way through, especially the last half, where all you do is hunt for items, and the "I got a new item yatta"-tune plays once every 12th second, gets very boring to watch. A great run with insane moves though, but I can't say that I enjoyed it for too long. Damn game :(

I think the missle needs to be traveling the same direction the Metroid is facing. I've tried hitting the back by aiming up, but that didn't do anything.
Yeah, I got the first one to rise so he/she/it got hit in the back portion, but only one damage. Boho :(

I was more concerned on cutting down on the Missile Tanks, since aiming won't be an issue. I suppose very few E-tanks would be obtained. Just enough to barely survive acid dive and/or a trip into the Queen's belly, and then make up for damage lost along the way by harvesting from enemies. I haven't done any planning at all yet, mostly because I'm sick/lazy/unmotivated, but as soon as I get better, I'll get back to the planning. Alter: How much of the game have you done now?

I just downloaded the any%-run from SDA, but since I'm so good/tool assisted, I might be able to skip some of the items he picks up, we'll see.

Haha dude I'm an unemployed man whose only friends work all week. I have nothing but time. Well Return Of Samus is my top priority as for now :)

So, wait, no Any%? BoltR? Otherwise, I'll get to it alongside with Return Of Samus, eventhough I prefer RoS.

Note to Cardboard: to perform the high jump glitch, run for 2 or more frames, then jump without holding any direction for one frame. Similarly, when jumping after rolling in ball form, unmorph by holding up (NOT up+other direction, otherwise you'll lose a frame), hold either direction for 2 frames and jump.
Yeah, I got that to work a few times, I suppose, or, I should say that I used both styles a few times. The jump-from-a-ball made Samus Super Jump earlier as far as I noticed, rather than if you jumped. Also, I figured that the "standing" jump was more precise than the fake spin. You know what, I think I'm gonna use memory watch this time ;P

Sure, I figured some stuff out already, like when falling as a ball, one can stand up around 2 - 3 frames before landing and hitting down on the next frame to basically land as a ball without any bouncing (Booo where's the fun in that <- Stupid joke). Say that you land on frame 68. Then, press up on frame 66, and down on frame 67, and I think it should work. I noticed that when this game lagged, what lagged was the enemies, so their movement stopped as Samus moved at the correct speed, or something like that. I made a WIP up until the first Metroid, it contains no testing at all, so basically I re-recorded each jump until I made it, haha. I'll try to nail the first Metroid before uploading a WIP, but that's the things I know for sure right now. Edit: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4210/WeeCopy.vbm Behold a very improvable intro.

I agree with that. While I don't really like 100% runs, this game isn't that long, and quite charming. If you decide to improve this, and want help, feedback, or whatever, I'm willing to help, this might result in a "quick" , glitch free 100%-run.

Oh, okay. I was thinking of doing this game if no one else was doing it, but it seems that someone is doing it. Also, to summon OgreSlayeR to the forums, just submit a Castlevania-run.

Sorry, voting no :/ I tried the first room, and played it a little sloppy, and left the room 22 frames ahead. I'm a little concerned when it comes to taking damage. Wouldn't it be faster to take some damage in the beginning of the run, instead of trying to kill/avoid enemies (Refering to the... thing that jumps around before the first Metroid-fight, among other)? Lots of jumps seemed to be too high and/or too long. The Metroid-battles themself seem a little... well... bad, I mean, couldn't you do the machine-gun-style used against that big mofo in the end against all Metroids up until that point? Too make matters worse, I'm afraid this run is actually slower than the SDA-run (It lands on 1:09:23, not sure about the timing in that run though, but still, the runner claims that 1:07:xx is possible). Finally, I think that an any% would be a better idea.

These are my suggested screens. EDIT: I've got some feedback on screen 20146 as the sweetest, and I like that one as well, so that's the screen I suggest.

True Lies has no 2P-mode (There can only be one Arnold \o/ ) I'll check out Soldiers Of Fortune, after all, 2P-runs are more interesting.

I suppose that True Lies is based on the movie, but I've never seen it, so I dunno. Anyway, the game reminds me of Mission Impossible for NES, but with a much more manly main character (Hell, Arnold is more manly than the 3 dudes from Mission Impossible all together), and with less puzzles and more action. I've played through the first stage, but it's improvable, especially the downhill running, http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4196/True%20Lies-cbrd.smv Can this game make an interesting TAS? I'm not sure how long this game is or anything, a FAQ claims that the game contains 9 missions, with some sub-parts, but I don't know how long the missions are, and reading the FAQ doesn't really help when trying to figure out how long each mission is. The name of the ROM I used is True Lies (U).smc.

I've changed my mind, I won't do a Fighter-TAS. To make it optimal, one should make sure to get a HP-restore item from EVERY enemy that he kills/encounters, to be able to skip as many save points as possible, and that will be way too much for me, I mean getting 13 Potions in my last Vampire Killer-run almost made me insane. Unless I can get help from someone, with the manipulation. Or just make a far-from-perfect run.

To get around the SRAM problem could you just: 1) Start with the current glitched run's input. 2) Do it again for the Magician, just a little faster. 3) Play the Fighter. If you can soft reset during the credits and still have it count (I don't know) then this should only add less than 10 minutes to the start of the run. Then this movie could obsolete the old glitched movie.
That could work. Would it be more amusing though? I mean, it truly does not aim for fastest time, and it will be very much slower, mainly due to not being able to dash-DSS and longer boss fights (However fewer save room visits might make the run smoother). I'll make some progress in the Fighter run first, so we can see how it works out. It might be boring after a while and only attract the fans of the game :/ Also, I tried performing the double KO-trick on last Dracula, hoping it would count as a cleared game, but it didn't :( Oh well. EDIT: Bonus snapshot from my last run-around, dead with 240 HP: Here's what I though could be useful:
    - Making a detour into the last room before Cerberus to snatch 2 Gauntlets (However this takes time and +30 STR does not make THAT much difference for the Fighter. If those Gauntlets are not grabbed here, they could be grabbed before Iron Golem, alongside with a Stylish Suit). - Get an axe for Necromancer - Get the Cross before Iron Golem - Skip the Night Suit and instead kill a Were-Jaguar to get a Ninja Robe - 2 Strength Rings before Adramalech
Other than that, just harvest on HP-restore items as well as Heart-restore items. Since the Fighter has the "advantage" of not being able to use DSS, sliding in a crowded corridor is probably faster, as long as the enemies die in one touch. Item Harvest, anyone?

I'm more concerned how long one can slide and kill everything, and harvest items, items, items and more items. We're talking maybe harvesting 20 - 30 Potions, which will allow one to skip a lot of save rooms. Getting the Cross is a must, yes.
