Yeah there seem to have been 9 frames slower picking up the axe where you picked it up now but, who cares? :) This is still great.

Speedrun this, speedrun that. This is, believe or not, "TASvideos Tool-assisted superplay movies". So. Yeah. Whatever? And as we all know, there are cases where different text speed affects the game, like jlun2 said, the RNG can be heavily affected, or as in the situation of Bionic Commando/Hitler no Fukkatsu where the actual gameplay becomes severely affected by the speed of the text, which caused quite a ruckus back in 2007. Finally, if I can't skip a cutscene, I would at least appreciate to be able to follow what's being said. Claiming that the broken order of the game is bad and make it impossible to follow isn't really an argument - as a matter of fact, seeing a character talk about a legendary item that nobody has seen for years only to have the main character wave that object around like a lunatic might be quite amusing. And I know this is hard to believe, but most of us don't know the OoT-story by heart. Warp had it right. Oh and by the way? I could only watch 38 minutes before giving up. Most of those 38 minutes mute. Because this run isn't really that nice on the viewer. And you know what, I did play OoT. Still refraining from voting. Edit: To the author; "It's done at the end of the Fire Temple and warps Link right to the start of the Forest Temple. I am aware of this trick, and it does not warrant a redo" would save how much time? And no, I'm not saying "redo and resubmit!!!111" because I know how tough it is to TAS.

A couple of years ago, I worked with relatively young kids (6 - 9 years old), and among the youngest, a statement like that one was very popular. "If this isn't done the way I want it to be done, I'm not gonna stay!!!111 whine whine cryyyyyyyyyyyyyy" Also I would wish for the author or someone who seem to know everything about this TAS to calculate exactly how many frames that differ from the J- and the U-ROM due to text, for future reference. Thank you in advance.

Publishing this now is the best option. I'm currently way ahead of this TAS, but have hit a roadblock when it comes to bomb-managment. Estimating the bomb-managment to take around 4 hours, and then I'll have to actually TAS 3/4 of the run, and my time is extremely limited these days so I won't rush it. I also have to test a whole lot of ideas which laranja PMd me a year or so ago so yeah.

I've been through this TAS a couple of times now, it truly is a masterpiece, however, I noticed that you had to give up a couple of frames when picking up the axe as Grant, was this the most optimal place to get the axe, seeing how it isn't exactly over-abused in the Clocktower?

http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=231440#231440 You know. Just saying. Judging from this, there never was no such thing as using the J-ROM for speed. I'm quite sad that focus has been completely put on getting the optimal timer and less on entertainment and accomplishment. Whatever makes you happy. Also despite all the crap I'm giving this situation, I still want this run to be published to have as little OoT here as possible.

That's the most dangerous scenario. It's obvious that the OoT-community is a large one, and if we reject this one, I'm pretty sure that we'll become the most disgusted place on the Internet. Nothing moves as fast and causes as much damage as bad reputation, so sadly enough, it seems that rejecting this is out of the picture due to fanboyism. Rules are rules.

I think it's no secret that I don't consider Ocarina of Time to be a game suited for TASing. Despite that, I tried to sit through this... thing, and ugh. This is a bad TAS, entertainment-wise. I never liked OoT but I played it. I don't like this TAS. I am opposed to having 2 hour long OoT-TASes published in the first place, but since the damage is already done this TAS puts me in a difficult spot. The massive problem is of course the whole issue with the rules. While I stand by the statement that rules are rules, and should be followed, I am almost willing to stand down and allow this to be accepted as an improvement to have as little boring on the site as possible, but I won't. Rules are rules, rules should be followed. I don't give two dimes about what the OoT-community have decided, we have different rules here. Anyway I will not cast a vote. It won't matter, as this is a case where any voice of reason will be forgotten and ignored, because let's just face it, we are not allowed to dislike this game, or a run of it for that matter. I think what I'm trying to get through is this: If this run isn't rejected because of breaking the rules (which I unfortunately believe it should be), it should be accepted and published due to technical superiority.

No, I tried on your .smv and could save those lost frames there, so I know it's not a loss you had to take. I made the calcuations from landing on the platform above the blocks, and both TASes do that. What I did differently was made sure that I was as far to the right as possible when I jumped from the platform. Edit: Like this.

I checked out some frame numbers in this TAS on the first level, but I'm afraid that this run doesn't beat all current records. At the end of the level, after the sequence with the blocks, you lose 4 frames to the old TAS (after jumping up on the platform above the blocks and moving on to the right). Maybe this is a one-time only event, but Super Turrican is a pain in the ass to optimize so I dunno about it. There are many clever tricks being used, but I would like to go through the TAS more in-depth and see if it's unoptimized or not. That being said, I kinda feel that this should be published (I know, the rules would disagree) as my improvement will take approximately 67^19 years to finish at this rate. Edit: I'll stay true to no damage out of stylistic choices.

Very nice! However, there are a few things that concerns me (I have started an improvement of this TAS myself): not sure that I agree with the take damage goal, but that's just me; in level 1-2, when you drop down to the hidden exit, you would have saved 7 more frames if you would have jumped into the hole earlier; would it not be better to save up on bombs for the face-boss and the final alien? This is the one thing I think I really messed up on in my run. As for the lava thingie, you are invulnerable as long as you bounce. If you start to do a plain roll, you'll start taking damage. Then again, would probably save time to be able to roll there, but that's something that one would find out through testing I guess.

Christ buddy, this wasn't my cup of tea I can tell you that. I gave up at 24000 frames, that music gives Death a sound. Had to give up, this was unbearable. No vote, sorry.

This post might be somewhat offensive. I know I should stay out of this topic but I can no longer resist the urge. I like the Bible. I follow the ten commandments. Except, those ain't your regular commandments.
1. Exodus 22:20: He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed. 2. Leviticus 24:16: And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death. 3. Exodus 31:15: Whosoever doeth any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 4. Exodus 21:15: He that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death. 5. Exodus 21:17: He that curseth his father or his mother, shall surely be put to death. 6. Exodus 22:19: Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death. 7. Leviticus 20:13: If a man lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death. 8. Leviticus 20:10: And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death. 9. Mark 16:16: He that believeth not, shall be damned. 10. Malachi 2:1-4: And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. If you will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, ... behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces.
Yeah. That's a loving god. Obey or be killed. Reminds me of the race any given dictator was/is running. Just saying. I'm not trying to be offensive. I'm trying to bring out a chuckle in non-believers and ask believers why this isn't being taught in Bible School. Source

I don't think it's all copied. I think the antics on certain platforms were different. That being said, I expected the improvement being larger using the J-ROM.

He actually dances as hilariously in this game as in UMvC3. As for the game, holy hot damn at that engrish! Awesome stuff. As for the run, yeah I can dig this. Voting yes.

I do recall Tom Clancy's End War being released on the PS3 and 360 alike. I'm still looking forward to a playable motion controller game. Give it some 20 years and we might actually have one.
