I got a Pac-Man key chain. Then I found two open pizzerias. I call that Christmas miracles if I ever seen one. Well. Two. You know. Bah, humbug.

I would clearly use save states to get laid. And of course try what L+R does to me.

Thanks for the support, guys! Just when I thought that nobody gave a damn about this game! Let me warn you now, this TAS will take quite a while; first, I'll finish one run of it and make it as good as I can, then I'll redo that run one time! Why, you ask? No you don't. You already know that I'm striving for a much tighter TAS this time around. I'll get back with WIPs after each completed sub-level!

Huge disagreement from my side then. This game isn't that bad, as a matter of fact, it's even quite awesome. It's like the ugly little brother that Sword Master never had, and the TAS is well done as well. This is one of those games that consists of "walk to the right and do more shit than just jump over pits". Short, action-filled and no cutscenes. I vote yes and would have done so even if this would have been the first entry for this game.

Even though I'm apparently not supposed to be the one who has this TAS published; I'm still moving on with my TAS. Done with the Bank Stage

So I am redoing this after a couple of years. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1861531203/Ninja%20Five-0%20%23%20GBA.vbm There you go. Have fun. This plays through roughly half the third level and is currently 58 frames ahead of the published run. Any advice are appreciated.

That run was too grovey to publish in time! Plus, it was worth waiting for.

The major problem with any "Top 1000"-list is this: Nostalgia is a wonderful thing until we actually go back and experience it. Now, I can't argue with opinions (Except for Final Fantasy X. What the hell?), so I won't comment on the actual list, but the issue is that, like you stated, you have played over 200 games, and to make a top 25 out of that is quite impossible. For this list to be fair and all that, you'd need to sit down and replay EVERY game again to be able to give a fair view on the list. To spend 25 - 50 hours is a great effort, but to be able to be totally fair, you should sit down and play through ICO and Bioshock, to be able to find out which one you really enjoy the most. What I'm trying to get at is that I might be able to compile a top 50 list of the games I've enjoyed the most, but I could never rank them. That's just too hard. I know, that's what she said.

Wait. I thought we were supposed to play and record via our Game Boy Advances?

I'm just glad they can say 'TAS' without explanation, as if the gaming world in general knows what it is.
Or do they?

Unfortunately, this WIP is not very well executed. There are way too many minor flaws which add up to a not-too-inspiring experience. Here are the three major issues I have with this WIP in the first level alone: * Don't walk after the long falls on the first damage boosts * The damage boosts in level 1 should really be planned better * I did not have the lag counter on but I think I noticed lag which really didn't have to be there Unfortunately, things doesn't get better after the first level, and I'm sorry to say, but the Medusa-fight was not good at all.

The TAS was excellent as well. Not certain the Robo-Manus fight was optimized, as it looked like half those hits weren't actually doing damage, but nor did I notice any frames of opportunity during.
Memory watch claimed that they all did hit though :<

It's a shame that in this game version, the only attack (with a few exceptions) you really do is that big punch, as opposed to headbutts and such. Also, the autoscrollers are definitely slower than the NES version, and the run isn't very glitchy. However, it was still pretty sweet, moved at a good pace, and Zitz running on his head is hilarious. Yes vote.
There actually are more attacks, I think there are like... 5 "Killer moves", but they are horribly slow compared to jump-killing so they didn't cut it :(

I vote for this suggestion. Maybe, just maybe create 3 different categories. One for obsoletions only, one for new publications only, and one for obsoletions plus new publications, but that would please everyone, we can't have that at this site.

Not to be an asshole here, but isn't the purpose of voting no that it should be a protest? Say that a totally horrible, not perfectTM TAS is submitted, and people are voting no as a protest against it? So yeah, what do I know. From what I get from the points given, it's that "Don't vote no on something everybody else voted yes on, that makes you public enemy number one. The only reason why we can vote no is if a run is not 100% perfectTM, it's not okay if we find it boring, if the game is popular. Then, we are horrible people for voting no. But we can vote no on boring, first generation runs!" I mean really, is there a list on what it's okay to dislike? It's obviously okay to dislike something which uses a debug menu, and it's obviously okay to dislike one of the greatest improvement in the history of the site because the author happened to be Japanese; but it's not okay to dislike a run by well-known authors on an overall "popular" game. I am sorry, but I do fail to see the logic here. And no it's not about site-rules. Don't even go there.

I am not by any means against this run being published, that's not my point. My point is that it is so much like the previous TAS that I can not spot the differences, as I did not have the runs run side by side. I watched the previous one about a year ago, and this looks the same to me. Of course it's a good improvement, and of course it should be published. I think that legit improvements should be published. I'm just finding it strange that a certain group of people who a while back opposed publishing an improvement to a N64-TAS now are for an improvement of a N64-TAS. The point I'm trying to make is probably that the average viewer won't notice the difference between this TAS and the five before it. I honestly find it hard to believe that all 100 yes-voters noticed every difference between this one and the previous one, but yeah it's all about the amount of minutes of the TAS which we vote by I guess.

I'm gonna have to side with mz on this one. As a person who watched the last 0 star, and now watches this, it's still just more of the same thing. Mario is bouncing on his ass, doing a boss battle, opening a door, bouncing on his ass, doing a boss battle. Rinse and repeat. I'll abstain from voting because my vote won't matter, but yeah. Get past the use of the key and I will be interested. Just my five cents.

I don't know what resolution Cardboard did his encode, but from what I've capture, it's a weird native resolution. I predict it will probably be close to 640x480 resolution when I do the encode. Also, I highly doubt it, but if eternal SPU syncs well enough, most of the sounds will be there.
Fairly sure I used 640*480. Mine wasn't meant to be looking great, syncing with sound or whatnot, it was just meant for people to be able to watch the run so the judging process can be sped up.

I have no idea how to share archive.org-links but here goes \o\ http://www.archive.org/details/DarkkoboldsPsxTasJediPowerBattle Have fun. Make no complaints about the file format, size or quality or this is the last PSX-encode I bother to do.
