WTF, rridgway? That made no sense. Let me restate what I said: There will be an upwards autoscroll, with non-moving blocks arranged like Tetris pieces, which will stop moving when they hit the floor. Yes, I know it's all possible. But what blocks should I use?

It seems the game was released pretty recently, which makes it very hard to find a ROM. Could you describe the gameplay a bit, please? What genre is it?

Someone once claimed to have managed a TAS on DS, however, there's no physical evidence of it, so we still believe we can't TAS DS games.

I'm working on a hack of Super Mario World, and one of the levels will include a tribute to Tetris. I'm planning to have Mario in a sort of "well", like Tetris has, with Tetris blocks falling. I'm planning to create the effect by making the level an upwards autoscroller, with the blocks in place. However, I don't know how I would make the blocks rest on the floor or each other when the floor comes to them. What block should I use?

It's only a tiny excerpt. There's much more description elsewhere in the book - I just don't want to give too much away.

2 days ago, the police released a video of a Polish immigrant who was fatally shot twice with a Taser at Vancouver International Airport. He spoke no english, and had a nervous breakdown after waiting 8 hours in the airport for his mother, who was not allowed to go to the baggage claim area where he was. Someone called the police, and when they came, a bystander explained that the man spoke only Russian, not English. The police spoke with him in English, then tased him after 20 seconds. He died from cardiac arrest shortly after being tased. Video

I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month, I'm hoping to write 25,000 words but so far I only have about 2,000. Here's my profile page on the site: http://www.nanowrimo.org/user/246791

Some weird headlines: "Boy fatally dies in fire" "Doctor testifies in horse suit" "Prostitutes appeal to Pope" "Deaf mute gets new hearing in killing" "Miners refuse to work after death" "Something went wrong in jet crash, experts say" There's a good list here.

When your armour underflows from bow equipping, why does it go to 153? It seems like it would make more sense for it to become 2^x-1, instead of 153. Yes vote for kick-ass luck-manipulation.

:( I'm very sorry to hear about your cat dying, Pekopon. But I hope you will be able to finish the run soon, it sounds interesting. A one-player run should be acceptable, and maybe later you could make a two-player run when you have more experience with TASing.

Sometimes, when there is a huge difference between 1 player or 2 player runs, tasvideos will publish 2 different videos. It's pretty rare for 2 players to be considered unacceptable, so I think it's OK.

Well, the gameshark codes would be useful for knowing exactly how fast one needs to go, and we could see how close we are.

I think a pure entertainment category would end all those infuriating debates about speed vs. entertainment.

Indeed. I am on the extreme #1 part of the termination point debate, and I made a River City Ransom TAS where the run ends 13 seconds faster than the next-best time (also mine), but the last boss takes about 3 minutes to kill himself. On that note, to make it as fast as possible, use reset to skip midgame credits. For example, the Pokémon Gold run does this.

How about the Super Nintendo championships from 1994? Does that emulate well?

Obviously, the best strategy is to get the fastest possible time in the first 2 games, then get 999,999 in Tetris (or close). I suppose TASes would be obsoleted by virtue of scoring more overall.

The second is from an amazing fan video made in late 2001 by AC-Promenade about "What if River City Ransom was remade?" which eventually culminated in rereleases and ports of the best Kunio titles to GBA (and that video was totally awesome.. it's here on Youtube).
I think RCR EX ruined the fun of the original game...

By quadruple play, he meant the play in baseball where 4 players are out in one play. This is normally not possible, because only 3 outs can be made in an inning. It is, however, theoretically possible, and might be amusing.

Finally, I was able to do some testing, and I found no effect for doors, teleport tiles, or going in front of trainers on the last step. Although teleport tiles warp you to the safari zone, rather than just fade to black and appear there.

I can't do it because I can't find any video editing programs that work with .avis from tasvideos.

Worked fine for me, without changing anything. Though the video lagged when fullscreen, so I had to watch it in a large window.

Catch 33 is a weird Flash game where you try to move your mouse over a series of numbers, from 1 to 33, as they bounce around the screen. I recommend holding the mouse in the middle at first, as you can get several of the first numbers just as they start to spread out. My best time is 38. If you get under 30, try to post a video. EDIT: 34. I got about 8 in the first 3 seconds.

I have an idea: What if, on your 500th Safari Zone step, you were standing on a teleport tile? Or walking through a door, or climbing a ladder in a cave, etc...
