For 0.7 and so on, could the window be made not to be always on top? (on top of mupen is okay)
seconded, it needs maybe a minimize window, actually on top of Mupen not okay but maybe conencted to the minimalization of Mupe

Yeah, I can't wait to start on it. Apparently you need 999 Lums to beat the game, so it's going to naturally be 100%. There's also backtracking becuase you need to collect Lums that you couldn't get earlier. I agree that it'd be a great TAS, finding those shortcuts and having constant action, fast, well timed shots is what's going to make this TAS. Oh yeah, and definetly route planning (not having a SDA run to plan equals more work for me :( but makes it original.) And learning how to make a N64 TAS with analog stick, I'm currently learning. Edit: Just got all input stuff to work out, so I'll do a few test runs and see what happens.

Aha got it. Edit: question self answered Last question: is making the red dot go beyond the circle going beyond the 63% range on N64 controllers?

I can't get that screen with the analog stick circle to show up, I copy/pasted the .dll into the right directory but can't find that popup window

He must've been high on honey or something to build his house practically 300 feet away from the witch's lair...

Unless a game is truly horrible then I'd say go for it. It must've been a bummer to be surpassed in DKC2 (though thanks for starting that topic in the first place so I could do 102% completion) so this'll be a good first TAS for you.

Am using the Dreamcast version, are there any differences?
Here's what I found on Wikipedia: I had the PC version, and obviously will be using the 64 version to TAS. PC: The PC version, entitled Rayman 2: The Great Escape, features the sharpest graphics due to semi-high resolution support, compared to the Nintendo 64 and the Dreamcast versions of the product. It is compatible with computers ranging from around the year of 1999 to the present day, although it can sometimes be hard to get the game to run on Windows XP. Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, PlayStation: Entitled Rayman 2: The Great Escape, these three versions are very similar. A few of the differences are: The Dreamcast version has several minigames, the Playstation version had the characters to talk english instead of blabber, and numerous changes have been made to the world map and final battle across these versions.

In the YI 100% thread, he had officially given up. Erokky and I attempted it initially, and we both gave up, however once I finish my 3 current projects I'll attempt it again. Back to this game, if anyone has spare time and wants to noodle around and see if they can find interesting stuff that'd be great... I can't really test this game out yet because Kirby 64 neeeds the analog stick disabled, and it'd be a pain to switch the configurations back and forth between using d-pad and analog stick... my guess is that this game can't be broken too much in terms of glitches, but that time savers from TASing can be done, as well as fast paced action.

Yeah, someone projected 4-5 hours so I'd be suprised if sub 3 could be reached. But the game I think would be very good, there's lots of places for expertly angled shots, the music, levels and gameplay is very nice. I think that in terms of action/complexity it compares with Zelda 64: OoT. I might do this WAY down the road, I'd need to finish my 3 current runs, attempt SNES Yoshi's Island, and then consider this. And of course, I love 100% runs and do them solely, so no problem there :P

lol. I have worse names for this oversized avian, most of them inappropriate due to the difficulty I had with him at the beginning before V8. He was my Waterloo, but now he's no problem.

I remember my brother playing this on the computer, and it actually is a very well emulated ROM, with little trouble (a little experimentation, showed no problems.) I don't know if there is a ton of time saving tricks, but the game is mobile and fast enough to be entertaining to watch. Anyone think that this'd be a great game to TAS?

Finally got around to working on this, got a V1 (test runs are done, there's really not much to learn about this game) done of the first level and there might be small areas of improvement , which of course I will fix if anyone notices places to improve. Star World Level 1

I'm currently watching the AVI, and looking pretty good. I tried playing this game, and without TAS tools it's pretty hard (no analog stick.) Nice text skips, only complaint is sometimes the screen shakes when trying to change the angle to follow Banjo. Plot line, does anyone else think it funny that banjo's house is within eyesight of the witch's castle entrance? Like wouldn't a blatantly obvious threat like that be addressed earlier? his realter must've been really persuasive lol

Oh I am playing slow now. V8 speed = 2-3 levels per day V9 speed = only continue when levels are perfect It just happened that Ganplank Galleon got perfect levels quickly. Plus I'll be juggling two other TASes now, so that'll also slow things down. technically V9 took a month, since I started it at the beginning of October, but since I knew exactly what changes to make and played Gangplank Galleon 9 times now, it went faster. It won't be as fast from now on (except Crocodile Cauldron, played that 6 times). Kreepy Krow was a way better fight, saving nearly a second from perfect luck manipulation, no frame-by-frame wobbling, better goofing around, more daring stunts, and hitting krow earlier. What do people think of the improvements?

Gangplank Galleon V9 Pirate Panic 38 frames saved Mainbrace Mayhem 164 frames saved Gangplank Galleon 16 frames saved Lockjaw’s Locker 29 frames saved Topsail Trouble 43 frames saved Kreepy Krow 51 frames saved 341 frames (5.68333 seconds) ahead of V8, not counting time spent to Visit Funky Kong.

I think that since the DKC games are represented in SNES, and since those are the best of the DK games, and that the GBA versions have nothing new to offer that it'd be trivial to make TASes of these.

I just solved two birds with one stone. Freaking awesome!!! By entering/leaving funky kong, on the first possible frame to enter kreepy krow I nailed a "perfect" perfect frame. Now I won't forget about Funky on the way!!! I found the frame on a test run, and now I got a save state on the perfect frame so the boss is all ready to be pwned!

Saved 43 frames in Topsail Trouble. yeah I probably am going to play all levels anyways, even try to improve the optimal ones. Tomorrow/weekend starts the Kreepy Krow rematch for the 9th time, hopefully this time around I know what I'm doing and he'll be going down like a sweet muffin. On a side note, my CPU probably is relle screwed up- not only are my TAS AVI's suffering, but so is my fps in Snes9x. It'll go for 5-10 seconds as 59/58, then plummet down to as low as 35-45 in the next 5 seconds, and this keeps going back and forth. Plus I get the crackly sound so very often. Maybe time to get another computer :( I desperately hope not, laptops aren't exactly cheap and mine has so many loving memories.

Watched the WIPs, liked 'em. I did a little testing in Low G- Labyrinth and I think rolling actually slows you down, so be sure to test that. And can't wait for Squitter to show up again ;p the arachnid action you had, just with that 45 seconds was great.

probably not with the invincibility after being hit, since that's used against main bosses without getting the desired affect that you're suggesting against Knuckles.

I made the transition to Frame Advance, however I was doing 12% for a month and then switched to Frame Advance, you however had a solid 2-3 years of 3% speed so good luck with adjusting, don't worry you'll get used to it and actually find it easier IMO
