I actually had little to do tonight, and started working on V9 earlier than intended, specifically in improving the second half of Lockjaw's Locker (because I was dissatisfied with saving only 9 frames.) Found many minute time savers, and ended up saving an additional 20 frames. So overall 29 frames saved in that level. Interesting to note is that I found the fastest possible way to go inside the warp, at least 3-4 frames faster than any other possible method due to wonderful landing-in-water boosts. It was purely accidental as well, much like being inside the wall and hitting the cannon kroc correctly in backwards switch #1 in Chain Link Chamber. (only took 1 rerecord- in test runs, by stopping Arne's demo vid it took me hundreds and I still couldn't do it.) Lockjaw's Locker V9 improved I am going to be juggling this with Kirby's Dreamland 3, taking it very slowly, making sure it is 100% perfect, and only releasing WIPs when a world is done. (reason is that daily updates made me rush some levels, I want to take this extremely slowly. I will send WIPs of levels/current progress to anyone who asks.) 10 bonus points to anyone who can verify what Arne's progress is, if he even is still working on any%.

I wonder if it's possible to create a dual movie, with one showing all of tail's movements, that'd be very entertaining to see

I posted this in the published movies section, here it is again: I created a word document trying to find all the minor mistakes that need to be fixed in V9... here's the list, lemme know if I missed anything: (some of them are *major* minor mistakes i.e. noticed in the thread, some are extremely minor mistakes that only I can see. sorry if format is a little confusing.) Level Layout Pirate Panic 38 frames saved Mainbrace Mayhem 164 frames saved Gangplank Galleon 16 frames saved Lockjaw’s Locker More precise on bonus, charge more to get to warp, do double roll to get DK coin Topsail Trouble Improve bonus #1 Funky Kong- make sure to get him either in Gangplank Galleon or in Gloomy Gulch! Kreepy Krow Improve time/entertainment Hothead Hop Try to avoid more brown krocheads, improve Squitter web platforming, more kills Kannon’s Klaim None Jungle Jinxes None Lava Lagoon Bonus, use better Enguarde movement and dismount before sign Redhot Ride Try to get to Rambi Earlier, improve warping Kleaver’s Kiln Try to make faster Barrel Bayou None Glimmer’s Galleon None, this level is 100% optimal to my knowledge Krochead Klamber Remove minor mistakes, test fastest methods, make more smooth/precise Rattle Battle Improve speed, look at Sami’s run for optimal avoiding enemies Black Ice Battle None Slime Climb Test getting the DK coin without invincibility barrel; try to set up a goal switch to use Bramble Blast Test if bonus #1 can be faster, or by starting the level with Dixie to use Sami’s shortcuts Kudge's Contest None Hornet Hole Try for as many kills as possible, improve Squitter web jumping Target Terror Improve on jumping on Flies, improve entertainment Bramble Scramble Improve bonus by a lot, Improve mounting on Squawks the second time like in Sami’s for fastest acceleration Rickety Rage Jump on every Klank for speed boost, even in bonus Mudhole Marsh Improve cannonball bonus, try to avoid waiting for bringing cannonball to bonus (doubtful, but test anyways.) Wouldn't that still be obsoleting it? Despite that he does have a monopoly on totally owning all the sonic games. Just fully watched it today, and, just, wow.

I'm no longer agnostic. I asked not long ago if you were interested in doing this, you said maybe and BAM we get another run. I have no idea how you come out with such amazingly great movies, IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. Yes vote for me, in Spades. Bisqwit- Nitsuja's status needs a serious upgrade. I know he just got ninja status- we need to create a new word for what he is.

The \ button is too far for my fingers, I always configure it right next to the other buttons. When having ZXCV as B, X, Y, and A (respectively) for SNES I had D as pause and F as frame advance, so that either my forefinger or middle finger was right next to the frame advance button. I highly suggest configuring the FA button very close to the others.

Hmmm good to know... Maybe just reserve movie watching for when I restart my computer, or try to find ways to not overtax my CPU. That or watch the GoogleVideo link all the time. (preferably the former.)

I learned how to play frame by frame... it's quite easy, easier than slowdown speed IMO.

Yeah I was thinking the same, that the first is doable TAS and faster, plus would look way more impressive. but the important thing is the method is there, so the 2 second gap is inconsequential if the first method is impossible.

I wish my first ever TAS attempt at DKC2 was as good as that... at some point I need to learn how to do N64 TASes

9 hm... I'm using 3 so that I can see through the water in the levels I've done so far. But I'm going to continue the movie, I'll do the making of the movie and hopefully the solving of the transparency can either come during or at the end of the final product. Hm once again having trouble getting hex editing to work (creating spliced movies that don't quite work) a bunch of hassle over 45 frames saved... I'll get it done right eventually

Alrighty just got a V2 that enters the door at frame 17744, having sucked in 3 of those guys and still getting to the door before the last one gets close. So now just to start hex editing and splice that in.

Hmm, I couldn't actually get Kirby to shoot them out like that, I was trying to get something like that accomplished so kudos for getting that to work, so I'll try it again today and see if I can get it.

it had nothing to do with the emulator- I was merely playing back a different .smv movie, and I noticed the CPU was overtaxed because the frame rate was so horrible, so I tested the AVI and it desynched (a great amount too.)

No, after I noticed that the CPU once again was getting taxed (due to Snes9x alternating between 59 to as low as *35* frames per second) the video once again desynched, so maybe it is extremely CPU sensitive. I downloaded the basic codec pack, I'll try to download the mega pack but I doubt it'll have a big difference.

I have systematically tested every way to swallow those 4 enemies, and it is an impossible feat. Reason: they're so close together that when Kirby starts sucking, he won't stop until he has them all, and the ceiling will kill you before you finish the last one. I spent at least a hundred rerecords trying to do this one shortcut, from many different places, so I am sticking with the time saver of taking damage.

I think that, compared to SNES it is inferior, and not a different/unique enough game to warrant a TAS.

some levels are already optimal- Kannon's Klaim, Glimmer's Galleon, Black Ice Battle, are all optimal. (though probably those are the only ones however.) I probably will replay all levels anyway, except maybe for those three. But only will I know when I get there.

Sweet, I'll take a look now and this'll make it very easy to share among friends who couldn't download it.

I restarted my laptop and it worked, so I think it's just sensitive to CPU taxing/usage. When I eventually do V9, do people want me to try and paste in already optimal levels or play the entire game all over again? And if anyone knows Arne's progress or if he's still doing any% that'd be great
