turning around to fly backwards takes more time then turning around on the ground... and flying backwards gives the appearance of a speed boost, but I think it's deceiving Is swimming out of the water in the air (not the same as OoT) as Zora going to be used at all? this is easily replicable on the console so I'm told, so will the acheivable height/speed boost be used? I know super slide will be used primarily for ground movement and bomb hover to gain height but does the zora air swimming have application?

Haha don't know what that's about but I'll look at the improvements tomorrow and tell you what I think of 'em.

I thought about that in V7, and it loses frames. It'd be funny if it was faster, setting up the right spot to jump on the barrel. I'm pretty sure that you can be inside the bonus a few frames before you can even jump on the barrel. Interestingly, those laughing dudes (Kloaks) have the worst hit collision detectors, even more so than the bees

12 posts later... getting back to the run... GuanoBowl I saw your WIP where you try to reach the secret gate by a certain time- I was not able to see it very well because the visual quality was very good but synching of the movie was terrible- the AVI was never playing at the right bitrate and so quite frankly I couldn't see what was going on.

Barrel Bayou Correct/Improved 52 frames saved I only lost 8 frames to get the DK coin and continue the level. And I got to keep my favorite parts too. This is why it's good to release WIPs per stage and CHECK before I continue lol I miss one banana... I was so close too... more entertaining, and no time lost

thnx, because as I'm obviously not too busy with my own TAS than I can bother checking through every single page in this 100 page thread, I occasionally come here to see the progress and discuss methods not to debate about whether I'm going to look through all the pages or not

and that way, when one level can be improved you can change it then before you've moved onto the next. hasn't happened to me yet (mostly because I redid every single level all 7 times that I restarted the run) but it sucks to release a big WIP and have one level in the beginning need improvement. Also the people here have very critical eyes, and it helps to have them do a level-by-level analysis each level you complete. Plus it makes the topic longer/more replies :P Anyone ever get that weird feeling that they'd love to go exploring all the backgrounds of the levels/maps in all DKC series? I know I do, I sometimes think the background is more interesting than the level itself

The bottom of the well actually scares the daylights out of me. I could never play that level because I was too scared of zombies starting to make out with me.

Don't you need these two medallions to discover that Sheik is Zelda?
Not this time round.
when was this discovered? and what evidence?

I will not give a date to next WIP... my time is very short now. Maybe i'll copy comicalflop and post a WIP per stage. ^^
I feel completing each level is an accomplishment, and sometimes when I'm level crunching (3-4 levels one day, technically not a good thing as I do better when I redo levels and take them slowly, I am now against bringing out THAT many levels a day) it lets people not wait forever for each new WIP to come out. So go ahead, I don't mind it also will let me track your progress level by level :P

if superslide/jump to get to ganon's tower early works mean that none of the temples need to be beaten, except forest halfway to get bows? and what is advantage of beating forest as a child?

Crocodile Cauldron done This fight was better than V7, closer to Arne's- I hit Kleaver on Cannonball #4 much better, I alternate how I use the hooks before cannonball #5, and on the last hit I do just like Arne and get Diddy stuck in mid-air though in a different place. comparatively, I am 3 minutes 7 seconds faster than the single segment run at SDA, even though the AVI is slightly faster than the actualy gameplay so it's probably even more. I knew that run was in major need of TAS improvement :P OT: This makes reply #400 in this topic, and the mark of page 21

Wow, that is faster, if you can get a sword glitch to skip the first is it possible to not even need to set the glitch up again to get to the gold skulltula?

from one DKC 100+% player to another, I think this is going really great. DCK3 is the slowest out of the series, but you are doing this game as fast as possible and it looks nice.

But a glitched all medallion run is only different from the any% by 2 1/2 temples. I personally didn't like seeing 3 of my favorite temples being skipped, but an all medallion run is having the game beaten the way it is supposed to be, which us TASers try to break. Making it an all medallion run is like having a warpless run of any of the DCK series- in DCK 2 and 3, there are warps in the first two worlds but making a warpless run is not better than an any%, despite seeing more of the game being played. the whole point is we dominate these games to beat them in speeds not normally humanly possible, or make 100% goals look rediclously easy.

In that level since I'm going up pretty much all the time, it's a good idea not to hold Y, but for other levels where A) you have a lot of horizontal movement (bramble scramble) or B) you are Squawk's the animal, which changes the physics of flying since you're not carrying any extra weight. for the rest of the levels with squawks I'm probably going to be holding Y all the time simply for the switching to horizontal speed reason.

I agree that you should do S+K3, Sprint God makes that game look redicolous but if there's anyone that can obsolete that it's you

I agree, the Any% has a no bounds-complete-as-fast-as-possible-with-any-glicthes, but the difference between a 100% and an any medallion glitchless run is iffy, and debatable about which would be a more accepted run. My thinking is that some games have glitch and non-glitch runs, like some NES zelda games (Zelda 2), Zelda: ALttP for SNES, whereas other games have any% and 100% (all 3 Donkey Kong, Super Metroid, Megaman X series.) I'm still undecided about this. What I do know is that I cannot wait for the improvement of the any%.

Squawk's Shaft 70 frames saved I was suprised I saved 70 frames- I thought as I was making it that some parts were slower, but apparently not. Smoothed the flying, I found out holding Y does not affect Squawk's Vertical up speed so I don't use it unless I know I need to use eggs or switch to horizontal movement. I got the bonus as close as possible to V7 as I could- it's as fast if not faster, but I'm not going to check. I think the point of getting sqauwk's up to bonus #3 was the biggest time saver, but small gains in frames overall lead to a nice improvement. I was under the impression Mine levels could not be improved (much like Kannon's Klaim, I'm pretty sure that can't be improved ever from this point on.) On to Kleaver's Kiln! and I know the cannonballs can be luck manipulated, but mostly it's for cannonball #1 and 4. I'll start working on it maybe tonight, but most likely tomorrow. (darn all this avatar business, it's just never easy) I found a good frame to enter Kleaver's Kiln (the first one how about that) so I'll start working on it tonight, WIP tomorrow most likely. the two most important cannonballs, #1 and #4 are in the right place so I'll work with this frame.

There are texts to climb walls vines that are skippable, but could one of them be used to activate the sword glitch?
