0210D599 1 byte signed = X Speed This should help in optimizing things better. For instance, your spam boosting of Kirby is not good in the slightest. And yes, you can tap ANY box to make it disappear. I'll make a few tests, and post them here when I'm done. Edit: I don't want to spend too much time into this game, so here's what I found. -Spamming the boost is bad (*except for a trick I'll mention below), you really need to watch your speed to find out when is the best time per boost. Sometimes more than 10 frames or more per boost. What you want to do is, press it when your speed goes back down to your average, since pressing the boost once will bring your speed higher than average then back to normal. Watch my input, and watch the speed address, and you'll see what I mean. -The best way to test when to boost is that if you press it too early, it either does nothing or worse, slows you down. (yes, the boost can slow you down if you press it too fast.) -Slopes are your friend, but they can;t be too steep (unlike in say sonic where the steeper, the better.) Too steep and you actually slow down, rather than accelerate. -While slope accelerating, Your speed does weird stuff, but i think spamming the boost here is actually a good thing and racks up your speed nicely. -I hate the stylus input for the rainbow lines. Each frame, the next point can't be to far away. Lame. -Going over the enemies, as I said, saves time. As you can tell from movie, it's not easy. -You can create a down slope that goes right through Kirby and he'll automatically catch it. I do this right at the beginning, you can maybe, if you're good enough, make it work for when Kirby is at the peak of a jump. (too soon and he goes underneath it.) This movie gets to the very first medal 117 frames faster than your movie. I get Kirby almost up to full wheel speed occasionally. AVI demo .dsm So, yeah, hope this helps.

You should write a short story in the background while TASing the game. :)
Keep in mind that the rainbow meter runs out; it's not infinite, and you need to wait a while before it refills. And, that precious resource will be needed to save time, draw ledges/slopes, and create shortcuts, so you're limited there as well, not to mention spam tapping Kirby when he doesn't have the wheel will prevent you from drawing. I thought it was only the explodish boxes (with the bomb symbol) that you could tap to remove them? Also, yes, the physics of the game (creating new routes using the rainbow lines) will be incredibly complicated. This is probably going to be one of those games where some different strategy is going to be inevitably faster per room. ThMarksman: does an all medals run really have that much detouring to collect everything to make it 3+ hours?

I seem to remember a good number of submissions where someone is hounded for voting yes and posting immediately after something is submitted. Let's compromise and call me noble for being the dick rather than everyone else.

Before you puppies start whining, yes I have watched it in its entirety before submission. This is an easy vote, because of the optimizations everywhere, the new tricks, and the increased entertainment in every segment where possible. TAS partner, yes vote for you, and best of luck to future Yoshi Island runs.

Nope, #13 in this video says otherwise. (that's skipping the Nintendo coin, so no need to play DK arcade twice.) Anyone who wants to see the progress of these new discoveries may want to keep an eye on the DK64 thread at SDA.

If you're going to construct a route, you might want to take a stab at the newly found 15 banana route: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTlwRFHs9kg and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlIIbz1cK_g

Encode: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?undkmmmdlyx So, I watched it, and uh, I don't quite think the game met my expectations. I dunno, I guess Kirby moves slower when you multi-tap on him than I first thought. So here's some suggestions on improvements. -Find the X speed address; it looks like even when spamming the boost on kirby, his speed varies; you might find it more frustrating, but more optimal to maximize his speed per tap of the stylus. -Use the rainbow lines to make Kirby go over more enemies. The other Kirby games with wheel use jump to go over enemies; you plowed through every single one. Or, perhaps tap on an enemy enough times that it bounces into the air and over Kirby as he wheels underneath. regardless of what you do, you need to hit enemies and other obstacles less. -I get the feeling when you collect the last medal, that you can place that rainbow line closer to Kirby and make him turn around sooner, or create a half loop-de-loop in order to rockateer him in the other direction without losing wheel. If such a thing is possible. -1 LOL?? That's it? You have the power to draw words, use it to the fullest!

Well, when I compared vids the 3 seconds saved is spread throughout the whole mission, not just the gel/rubbing. And the addresses I have are really for minor optimizations; you might be surprised to know they only consist of x/y coordinates of the stylus, and the amount of use left per tool (plus one address that shows how much liquid is inside a syringe- max of 25.) It took me many restarts of various levels, as well as finding out how to optimally use each tool in order to get perfect times as well as new time saving techniques; for instance even in Triti there's ways to save time besides just pulling out stuff optimally. You'll see what I mean when the movie is complete. Done with operation 13, so moving on to Deftera. *silent cry*

You list 4 Saturn shooters and forget Radiant Silvergun? For shame.

Just so you know, you CAN go back and edit out the scanning if you know exactly where things are. Such as when doing mission 1-3 and the tumors.
I know. My video was a demonstration that the Kyriaki disappears from the mission COMPLETELY (a glitch); I have so far never used the ultrasound unless I absolutely HAVE to (in which case it happens so fast you miss it, or on the first frame possible to save 2 frames). Fortunately for me, I found the trigger that causes it; the suture line you make on the first cut cannot be completed before a certain frame; after it, the boss kyriaki appears just fine. Nice TAS of operation 3, but in my WIP I end with a time of 4:48:93, whereas you end with 4:45:05.

Brain Age
Dunno about this one, since the game's screen are sideways, it may be hard for viewers to properly see it without damaging their necks. But, perhaps a different brain game would be more proper. (frame advance only test.)

Does it make me a nerd that I recognized 95% of the characters in this game? I even knew who the final boss is, why he has green hair, why he has a battlesuit (this involves a separate timeline involving the X-man Bishop, not Wolverine); heck, I even know what his mutant power is. I find it very amusing that Wolverine's fastest form of movement looks so much like Super Smash bros. Melee's Wavedashing. It's also a relief that the CanuckleHead has many various moves and different speeds, which keeps things more interesting than many other movies where the main character has 1 set speed. However, the lack of speedy options to get past the grunts slowed down the pace a bit, making a potentially sonic-lite run hit some molasses. But I guess you can't vote no on the guy who's the best there is at what he does, but I'm throwing in a 25% weak vote flavor due to the game's limitations.

Wow, I really do feel as if people have completely lost the ability to read. That is immensely saddening. Anyhows, I did a test of Prism. It can be completed fast; disappointingly so I think. The puzzles at the beginning are almost TOO easy, and can be completed before the screen even fades in entirely. It only takes 3 frames to move the objects around the screen, but for the majority of the early puzzles there aren't many objects to move around. Stage 1 puzzle Hyper stage test (frame advance only)

Being an aspiring Voice Actor, the Animaniacs are one of my favorite characters to impersonate (all 3 of them). I should mention that it's Yakko and Wakko, not Yacko and Wacko. Will try to watch and vote later. Edit: yes

Chapter 2 is done. And now the game starts to get really, really tough... so progress should slow down. Edit: Well, this is unfortunate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAx-2dRyExk&feature=channel_page

The TAS Input Plugin allows you to press left+right/up+down at the same time. Heck, since it's a checkbox based GUI, you can press and hold every button on the controller at once.

http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/MakingAVI/Snes9x/Windows.html (or http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/MakingAVI/Snes9x/Linux.html if you have Linux) Good luck, I can't make heads or tails of anything more complicated than single pass encoding.

Way to be 4 years late. You might want to check computerbird's run, since that's the most recent version.

So yeah, THIS is what a Street Fighter 2 player movie should look like. The fast moves and incredible teamwork make this a good watch, even though I haven't played the game. And it's really short too. Yes vote.

Some newer titles I found that'd be very interesting: Mushroom Men (lots of tools and numerous options) Prism: Light the Way Doodle Hex (does this have a 1 player, or is it mutliplayer only? Pipe Mania (is there any way to finish putting the pipes all in, and have the ooze start draining, or does it have to wait for the timer to complete?) Soul Bubbles (hm, needs microphone)

So I don't particularly care what happens with this one (should probably mention I don't care too much for the whole batch of "these get another chance at the workbench!"); probably published in the concept demos alongside that Knuckles one.

So what you're suggesting is that there should only be one option in the poll, YES vote, because if I watch the run and don't like it, I didn't understand and shouldn't vote no? I'm not trying to harm you, I'm only posting my opinion about the run, which is what the judges want.
