Glad to finally see a 100% run. There are moments where the any% is more entertaining, and when this is more entertaining. It's a nice balance, but big bummer about having to do armadillo 5 times. I noticed, especially in the beginning, that you could have shown off during waiting periods way more. While it can't be helped now, it's something to remember. Also missing from the any% was the "kill everything with many different weapons" pedagogue; that really spruced up that movie, and it was sadly not as present here. Good job. Could have been a little better (also for those tricks you missed, but those were frames missed, not seconds, so its not that bad) but not bad as it is. 7.1/8

2 things: -when jumping onto an elevator, you'll want to make sure to touch it on the first frame possible. I noticed one elevator that goes up, inside some cave level just before frame 40300 ish, you could have jumped onto it earlier I think. -If there are moving conveyor belts, run on top of them if they're moving the direction you're going. You missed 2 that were moving the same way you were; missed little time saver there. Besides that, looks good. I like the J selection granting Henry; good way to get around mupen;s lack of starting from SRAM. So there's medieval weapons, armor, clothing, buildings, yet guns and motorcycles? How does that work? I think this game is, eh. I'm glad it's done in 14 minutes; makes it better for the site than, say longer castlevania 64 runs. 6.2/7.5

It always bugged me that I couldn't use some of the glitches/tricks that I had discovered when making the S rank run. The 'stand on pot' trick in particular, because it really seemed like it could be used somewhere. And, lo and behold, it can. Time saver using stand on pot glitch youtube I just made this today while experimenting. It saves 8 in-game frames; since I wasn't heavily focusing on precision, I'm confident even more can be saved. With the proper optimization, maybe even 30 frames? More? The glitch when i first found it enabled me to grab the pot beneath me, which gave me 1 frame of 'standing on ground' status, which let me jump or slide and carry the pot with me, but not jump slide. When I did this, I found I could do a normal slide jump without grabbing, and I was close enough to the top to not need to carry the pot with me. "That's a slide jump, >C boost, ^C boost, drop-pot cancel, ^C boost, land on pot, slide jump off pot, >C boost, boost grab to the ledge maneuver." (sorry, I couldn't resist.) It saves some frames for the S rank run, but I'm not certain about the gold gem run. When I tried to grab the pot below me, the pot was falling too fast, and I did a funny "land on pot-fall-land on pot-fall-land on pot" thing. Bringing the pot up and over the ledge is important for skipping the 4 grenades that you need to shake into a bomb. Maybe it's possible to grab it, and throw it over, then use a 1 frame of standing on ground to follow it? Anyways. Since emulation is still not perfect, I'm still not doing a run. But, just making sure this discovery is out there.

I've always been in favor of the fastest time being a good goal for the site. It's my personal opinion that because there's been so many sub-par and repetitive SSB submissions under fastest time, that the playaround offered something new, hence why it was published. The first fox fastest time one by nico (when he switched to hard mode) should have been published, had it not been for a stupid judge coming in to reject it based on his arguments with the author, not because of any regard to how people liked the movie. (read through the discussion thread, you will see that at the time, everyone was mostly in favor of it being published, then he came along, and rejected it out of spite for the author, using bullshit justification.) Anyhoos. I am in favor of you doing two things: -I support you all the way for a fastest completion, especially if you have improvements in mind. In order to justify the full completion of the bonuses, you could make it your goal to include them as part of completing the game, and that any faster TAS would have to obsolete the bonuses as well; for instance, an obsoleting TAS would not be able to beat yours simply by skipping the bonuses, but copying all the rest. If the bonuses became an agreed part of the goal of beating the game, then it'd be able to be included. Which is good, because people whine about them being skipped. And, since you seem to do a really good job at making those bonuses look cool. Which brings me to my second point. -You could also do a runthrough (one .m64) of the 8 BtT/BtP stages for the 8 main chars (since you can't start from SRAM). I like your bonus vids a lot, and wish they could be morphed into one playthrough. The playthrough has been suggested many times; and since you managed to beat every single TAS WR, I don't think it should be too hard to redo them all as one run.

Other way around. The record reset mupen makes Linux close the emulator; it's fine on windows.

What's the point of having a large compatibility list if there aren't any TAS-making tools? Also, you know what's awesome? Bangai-O Spirits seems to works really well in DeSmuME. That is to say, if one has a ninja supercomputer. YEAH BOY.
If no games can run in desmume, even if it has TAS features, what's the point? That's what I'm getting at. I think, from a developer standpoint, run all games comes before TAS tools. Bangai-O Spirits seems to run fine, and even has a replay feature (which DOES enable you to TAS the stages, replay, and record an AVI) however, I think I spotted visual glitches with the ammunition. It may be me, but I don't think all the shots are supposed to be white/grey balls.

If it's faster, than yes. However, skipping items at the cost of time is only reserved for low% runs.

Whatever the very last button needed to push to make the credits roll on their own. Gigafrosts's reason to run through the credits is, well, stupid in my mind.

I really think the input should end before the credits roll, like all other movies on the site. That's what, 3 minutes of credits rolling included in the input movie? I liked Gigafrost's movie; this one is better.

I agree it's a good choice, and makes for an entertaining TAS; 7.6/8.0. However, I disagree with your statement moozooh. You have managed to cite this game as superior than three games that I myself have worked on. Thanks for the vote of confidence there buddy.

I thought there was an old option in user forum settings where you could hide your ratings in published movies; is that feature gone now? I agree with adelikat; the "calculate average" thingie seems like a good way to fix the problem. I've noticed a large number of users constantly giving high ratings to everything they see.

Just letting everyone know that NxCy and I are just starting world 6 (currently at clapper cavern), so we should be completing the run soon, depending on how much it takes to optimize these last few stages.

Wyster: MHS (Memory Hacking Software) is your best bet for memory watching. Laughing gas said he found the address; nfq said "009654A0 is the code" but I don't know if he uses MHS for that. "47.9833333, 129.9833333" Using this, I bet you can find exactly what address he was talking about. It seems to increment every 0.166667 every frame, according to what laughing gas said. If I have time later, I might try to find the in-game time address.

And I wanted to TAS Kirby SqSq one day :( Mupen doesn't matter. VBA, snes9x and fceu should work.
I fixed the problem, all I needed to do was re-download the emulator, ergo replacing the config files and such. You should be able to use desmume just fine. My bad.

ok, we got it the first time, no need to copy/paste the exact same words into an identical thread. And yes, everyone is wetting their pants waiting for development, just like you are. So no need to remind us.

I just recently got a new laptop with Vista. -Snes9x works -VBA works -Mupen works -Haven't tried FCEU -Desmume 0.9 doesn't work AFAIK, Vista creates some problems with AVI recording on some emulators (like mupen); besides that, I don't think TASing is affected at all. 3D emulation is only doable depending on what your video card's capabilities are. I made my choice based on that, so that's something to think about. Besides that, I haven't noticed any differences.

You don't need to hold out until then; but I was informed that it wasn't going to be ready until next year, not this one. I'm fine/happy with things now, and when windows 7 is available, I'll switch to that. But I don't regret replacing my 3 year old computer with my current one, even though it does have vista.

technically speaking, NO games can be TASed at the moment, due to lack of tools (frame advance, movie record/playback, etc). But this development does look strong and promising.

Unfortunately for Saturn and his Giant Ego, I view this award for the gruefood submission that is beautiful because of its ugliness, not whichever was the most optimal TAS that got rejected. Color a dinosaur wins in my book for being sheer stupidity that spread like wildfire on the site.

Mission 1 Mission 2 Mission 3 Yeah, I'm getting excited about this development. I think even more important than adding the juicy TAS features is making sure all games work; the compatibility list is really quite small. And yes, a good computer is needed to run a good speed; my 3 year old computer runs at average 15 FPS. :-/
