As helpful as that may be, nothing Cpadolf asked for is listed on that page.

So I'm guessing you didn't actually have anything useful to say in this thread, seeing as the PSX emulator does, in fact, work and the question when will we see PSX TASes is moot now. I'm guessing you meant to give your ORIGINAL* request in this thread. *Sarcasm. Yes, we know Megaman 8 would probably make a good TAS, no need to mention it again.

There's your answer, seeing as no one is posting "OMG I fixed it!" If the news hasn't come that it's fixed, assume it isn't fixed yet. You can try the J ROM, but there's still buttloads of graphical problems with that.

My vote is for klmz. His movies are more impressive in my opinion.

My personal nomination I can't really suggest since he hasn't submitted anything yet. But he dominates in any game he touches, and more importantly as soon as he hit the TAS scene he demonstrated phenomenal TASing skills that pretty much surpass everyone's. Here's my nod to TASing partner NxCy. Ye shalt experience his talent this year.

Upthorn made the 4 coolest Gens TASes hands down. except, um, isn't CD listed as only nitsuja currently? (or are we counting CD as both of them for both having CD gens movies in the same year?)

Special categories These will need some discussion since some may not really apply this year, and there maybe cause for some new categories. Last year we had: Innovative TAS, Speedy TAS, Glitchy TAS, and Funny TAS.
I like "best boss fights" as a new category.

No votey buttons yet? I vote for cpadolf as most productive, for making *4* super metroid runs, as well as other runs that aren't just measly sub 10 minute easy cheesey runs.

Why do you doubt that? Shouldn't a TAS be easier (and faster) to do than a normal speed run?

I don't find this movie to be interesting in the slightest. 2.3/7.8

Wasn't the walrus skippable? Or was that some other mumbo transformation I'm confusing it with? Sami, both the jump+Z+zip, or the jump+Z+grab+jump again techniques should be faster than normal climbing. I have tested this on many different occasions; even if you can't get that zippy effect, climbing is slower than both zipping or jumping. Also, you could use jump+Z to extend your hitbox and hit the ceiling loading zone faster, like you did way back in Treasure Cove. I was a little disappointed with the christmas bulbs that you didn't play around more during the wait period, you just did the same slow actions repeated. That part was a little boring. But the rest was good, and did show good route planning. Of course, I came to the somber realization that if it took that long for this stage, there's still a looooooong way to go before this is submitted. :-(

well, at least this chameleon finally looks like a chameleon. But 6 minutes for the first stage? ouch. I like how the levels are way bigger and prettier than the first game, but if every stage is this length, I dunno..... If the run will be something like sub 40 minutes at least, I'd say keep going. And yes, I'd agree with Mukki and say you guys are really grasping 3D TASing well.

Passwords are acceptable, assuming you'll get the most entertaining run from the fastest car.

Watched through it, and it looks very improvable. You didn't utilize any up to date DK tricks, and lava lagoon looked it was played in real time. I think there's a trick that allows Dixie infinite rolls, where at the end of a roll you jump, and activate the helicopter as fast as possible, then cancel the helicopter, land, and roll again; this can be seen in the DKL3 rejected TAS, and I think it works in this game too. You didn't roll enough, didn't try to get max speed when rounding corners. I don't think the playing quality is publish quality.

2) You don't have to really hold TAB for [X time] on mupen. Due to an oversight or perhaps purposefully left in due to its usefulness, there's an easy way to speed up n64 emulation without tiring a finger. Hold Tab, and then switch active windows (clicking outside of mupen works). It will think tab is still held now, even if you let go. Now you can switch back if you want and you exit TAB-mode by just tapping TAB again. :themoreyouknow:
Just press + until mupen's speed is 1000%.

Could someone upload a savestate outside Furnace Fun for my leisure testing pleasure. My other options include beating the game or holding tab on a movie for half an hour
You do realize that your first option requires an equal, more likely GREATER effort for others than it does for you? Fast forwarding through Sami's WIP should take under 40ish minutes. Then just play the rest of the stages until you get there. While you're at it, can you do my laundry for me before I go back home for winter break? Or, my other option is to do the laundry myself.* *this is why I hate people who ask others to make savestates for them; it's almost always easiest to make them yourself.

Cool! If you're going to be fully serious about this, and never give up until it's done, you and I definitely need to chat so I can help you out with anything and everything. SDA run This single segment run (I still can't believe he did it only dying twice) is going to be your bread and butter for most tricks and route. Route wise, there's hardly any improvements at all, except for ending up with exactly 550 Lums. Precautions -depending on how much effort you're going to put into optimization, as a 3D game, this is going to be tough. Rayman does not walk in a straight line unless the tilt is perfectly ^99. because of the camera, holding the analog at one angle will make Rayman run in an arc towards his destination. I did this in my old TAS; you should try not to. -The camera is annoying. As with any 3D TAS, be sure to use the camera function to let the audience see as much of rayman as possible. I cannot stress this enough. -N64 Exp Pak = desynchs. Now I don't know how good your computer is, but SwordlessLink has a killer computer and experiences very few desynchs with majora's mask. When TASing this game, I got like, 20 or so desynchs when playing for 10ish minutes. If you don't experience desynchs, you're set, but if you do, it's going to require a lot of patience. -try to spam the A button during cutscenes, sometimes this skips the end of it (like the very first cutscene when you rescue the teensy). -Plan all 550 Lums perfectly. -Do not miss any murfy text skips. Some Mechanics: -Only jump when you need to. You lose a very small amount of speed when you jump, and his roll at the end is the same speed as running. -For obvious reasons, hover for as little as possible. -When sliding down slippery slopes, jump as much as possible, and jump off the end for the extra boost. -When throwing objects, try to fire as soon as possible, you'll start running faster. -On climbable walls, jump frantically. -When riding the snake, hold Z to crouch more. -Try to jump off of edges, it gives you a speed/distance boost. -There's a huge amount of going through walls bugs and glitches. See if, with rerecords, you can find new ones. I can help you with the mechanics of how to go through walls and floors, and perhaps we can experiment and try to find new places to do it. Tricks Manocheese missed: -Sanctuary of Water and Ice orb skip -Cave of Bad Dreams boss trick -Whale Bay lamp jump -Foutch skip -Tomb of the Ancients switch skip, death warp, Clark 2 cycle battle -Iron Mountains jump over fence -Precipice; make cannonballs kill elite pirate Do you have AIM or some other way to communicate live?

Is it possible to jump off of a mini game/trivia platform square without triggering the event, much like how you skipped Bottle's speech in Spiral Mountain? If not, it may also be wise to each time a mini game is complete, to jump to the next farthest one you can reach, or skip as many long mini games as possible.

I was under the impression that when shrooming and when you have a star active, that you should hold a powerslide as much as possible; I thought this was tested at MK64.com.

major route planning compared to their frame whorage, which it seem is what TASing is all about.
Seeing that both route planning and frame whorage are: 1) YES, what this site is about, and 2) Take a long amount of time to do correctly/thoroughly Then you can see why rushing TASes, whether it's supposed to be entertaining (making fun of the game) or for perfect technical demonstration (what a perfect playthrough be like) is a bad idea. TASing at its very core is a hobby that shouldn't be rushed, not a profession. There is a huge difference. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to spend a meticulous amount of time and effort into optimizing this TAS I'm working on to make it frame perfect.
