Woah, I can see why everyone is voting yes on this. I've thrown another to the pile.

That's the thinking. It'd be useful against bosses, against multiple enemies, you name it. I have scadloads of other improvements in mind as well. Curse that projected 4ish hour long movie time that always gets in the way of me working on this... That and other projects. Sigh.

edit: Naohiro19 is awesome. ....except it's too choppy on this slow computer and bad Maine connection. Also, one thing I want to just throw out there (not as an excuse for publishing, but): to all those who hate the game and don't want it published on the site, SSB has a large following of people who watch TASes for it who remain quite or not on the site at all. Of all of my youtube videos that I upload, anything SSB related gets more views/hits than for any other game. One of the things we want for the site is content that we know will be in high demand to be present for new people browsing the site. When I joined the site, first thing I did was download the AVI's of games I had played. The popularity of this game should come into play (although shouldn't dictate the outcome entirely.)

Hm, this is indeed quite the wrong time for me to be on vacation before moving into college... in the middle of Maine, without my laptop, so no mupen, and no godless amounts of time to intellectually debate in favor or against many of the opinions that have been expressed here. (and there are quite a lot that I want to speak my piece.) Oh well. Here's what I can say based on not having watched the run yet: -Yoshi? Awesome. I was fearing fastest completion would always become attached to Fox. I am glad to see this change. -I kinda wished you had posted in the thread, I could have given pointers about technical precision. -I would probably find this run entertaining. I am a Double Jump Cancel fanatic; I abuse it alot when playing as Ness, and (with more difficulty) with Yoshi. I can imagine myself thinking strongly about voting yes on the spot. We shall see when I get back, though.... -My version better? nah... while funny, it itself is also obsolete (okaygo pointed out to me many ways to improve it) it's not my best ever piece of work, and I also got the goals kind of muddled up. I still have many old school friends and random youtube people tell me they enjoyed it, and that's good, but in this day and age I could probably do a better run. Shrug. -Beyond what I have done for Mario's Break the Target stage (I improved the TAS time by 1 frame; woop-de-shit!), and what has been done for Pikachu's TAS Board the Platforms, not much improvement remains in a full TAS for those stages. What would be achieved would mostly mirror what antD has already accomplished, or just be a few frames faster than the current WR's. I get the feeling that a continuation in the SSB thread should be made regarding what everyone would accept as a publishable run. As someone said, using the workbench to test out ideas leads to rejections; SSB has garnered quite the curse, and who in their right mind would want to try a new run if it will be met with a huge amount of arguing and controversy? If a few dedicated people spent time experimenting with new run ideas, new WIPs until the most ideal run is formulated, and then the collective TASers all worked on that run..... But meh I'm rambling. Hopefully I'll get the chance to watch when I get back from Maine, before a final decision has been reached. Or something. Now time to go out and catch some more sun.

I couldn't watch Blooby's .m64, and do you see me making curt AVI demands? Nope. The demand (and people whining about deysnchs) for OoT is always high, so assume that an AVI will be made regardless.

We're talking waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more favorable conditions, like the "deal 9999 damage" types. Look again.

So, what do you think the projected times will be for a run on either version? If the difference (beside the language change) is more than just a few seconds, I guess you could as well make it on the J ROM.
Somewhere in that beast of a post Inichi said the J ROM would be 2 minutes faster than the published run, the U version only a few seconds faster than the published version. I say use the J for the new game+, because the improvement would be far, far more than merely faster text.

Let's see.... About the best way I can describe it is this: There are 3 types of what you would call "warps". -Door Warps (backdash through a door, and warp to a middle area of that level.) -Wall Sinking (where you whip launch into the wall, and zip up, and warp to extremely far away places seemingly at random.) -Going through walls with whip launching. Door warps were used very infrequently, and only to prevent back tracking. They cannot warp you to really far away places. Wall sinking was avoided entirely. Going through walls was done once, because there was enough room to reach over 36 pixels per frame speed. Now, here's the reasoning for what's included and what's not. Mostly, it's: "any warp that allows instant, direct access to Dracula is not allowed." And that's pretty much it. Door Warping cannot allow instant access to Dracula, since you can only warp into the same level and only after you've visited it once. It's used to save backtracking only. Going through walls is nice and all, but YOU DO NOT WARP AT ALL. (see my above post with the pretty pictures.) You can't use this method to get to Dracula, since all it does is skip past rooms fast without opening the doors. It's fast, but not warping. Wall Zipping is essential to the Warped Maxim movie, and thus is not used. An "All bosses run" would use Wall Zipping, to get from one boss to the next as fast as possible. It would more closely resemble the Bosh Rush, which is what this movie is not supposed to be. If you could get inside the walls and zip and warp, why not go directly to Dracula? I hope this answers your questions. Any more that rise up, I am always free to respond to.

Nah, but there is a Sasquatch Beta that Tarus rides in Mischief Makers. Although there has been lots of interesting paranormal stuff in the news lately, the fact that the DNA is being mistaken for possum doesn't look good.

Look out Sonic, you have a new competitor in the field of fast! "Spiderman, Spiderman, goes faster than Sonic can... Can he sling, from a web? Yes he can, and very fast. Loooooooooooookout, here comes the Spiderman...." Glad to see this blisteringly fast run submitted. The occasional lag is a bit of a letdown, but Spiderman is just zipping along at such a fast rate that seeing it laggy is sometimes helpful to see what he looks like in a slowed down matter. You crush bosses and enemies with ease, and show off what I always envision Spiderman to look like in action from the comic books. Thwip! Thwip! THWIPTHWIPTHWIPTHWIPTHWIPTHWIP! Well done, Bossy. well done. Yes vote, and THIS should be in contention to bring back those shiny stars.

If you can use other "jump" styles, like the sideways flip that gives incredible distance, then maybe yeah. Also, this vid tells me that normal megaflipping should be possible; is it?

Ah, Ecco! Scaring little kids with its eerie music since 1994. This is good. I vote yes. I'm curious, with what you're learned TASing this, might an improvement of Nitsuja's ECCO be possible?

Sir Tompalot has said if you're up to the challenge of a manipulation tough game, you're free to. Also, he is quite up to his eyeballs in other runs, and hasn't been giving this much priority anyways.

Well now. It is nearing the middle of August, to almost the date last year when I started this project. As some are aware, I have been stuck for nearly two months on redoing 4-03 (this summer has been way busier than I thought it would), and hexing the rest until I get back to where I had left off at 4-08. I have just recently finished 4-10, and am currently at Sasquatch Beta. To celebrate this semi-anniversary, I thought I'd share a little something. A quick test run of getting the gold gem in 1-05, TheCape way Ready for the best part? This strategy got obsoleted by 5 seconds, in a manner most outside the box. The manner of which will be shared at submission. In less than a few weeks (after a short vacation where I won't be TASing for awhile) I'll be sitting within the cozy comforts of a new college, whereupon massive TASing may begin again (like at the beginning of september). So, most likely this should finally get wrapped up nicely before 2009 rolls around. Edit: Run is done.

Well, it has some good parts, but a lot of the reasons why people make fun of it are based on truths. -some of the epic fights are too predictable. One person gains the upper hand, then the control switches, and it does this 6 or 7 times so that they can stretch the number of episodes longer. -Flashbacks. If you like flashbacks, this show's for you. -There's some creepy pedophilia themes, basically in the form of Naruto's mentor. -Orochimaru is creepy. -Sasusake is going to be a bad, bad villain, and no matter what, Naruto thinks he can persuade him and the pink haired girl what's-her-name thinks he'll love her. Their determination sorta drags on in that they just don't get it. -They kill off the cool characters. -There's random technology in the ninja world, which makes no sense. -Naruto's main jitsu is turning into 2,000 naked chicks. -Naruto's Fire fox form demon thingie/curse is boring. Like "ooooh, he'll destroy everything, but still gets beaten in combat? puhleeeeeeeeze" -Naruto is touted as a ninja who'll never lose, kinda like Yu-gi-Yo. But yet he loses, constantly. -Rock Lee only does a drunken rage fight once. And, he's supposedly invincible and capable of destroying continents on a full bottle of sake, whereas all he did in the fight was fall asleep. And so on and so forth. All in all, it's way more hyped up than it should be. But after making this TAS, you should watch some of it for giggles.

<Cardboard> At least I am finishing runs.... You were saying? Also Zurreco, surely by now you must realize we are entirely bored with your attitude of dictating how other people should think, how their opinions should exactly match yours, and what movies we should or shouldn't work on. I'll try to take a looksie at this run, sounds interesting. Naruto without the "flashbacks inside a flashback" should be worth seeing.

I once did an analysis of TT vs. GP for this game, and decided that TT would be better for a TAS. GP doesn't add as much as say Mario Kart 64, so the differences are less (and even sometimes hindering.) Doing a huge air dive to gain massive speed and zoom around the track doesn't work as well when there are 29 other cars in the way. The password should be well known... I have like 10 or so .m64's that enter it optimally. Also, anyone wanting to do a run can most certainly abuse this speed-preserving trick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgHP9i2dW0o

Ah, if only N64 WAS all the rage. Sadly, it isn't. Also, maybe the bias is because Nintendo makes games that turn into good TASes? And who says that's a bad thing? MUGG used the J version of "Kirby and the mirror that is supposed to be so amazing it has to be added to the title, even though it's scattered into pieces and isn't even that shiny or reflective" in order to deal more damage to bosses. I think it'd be fine for you to do the same.
