Your mom helped as well, remember. Sex is generally a two person activity when it comes to procreation. Also, your dad probably did not lug you around in a huge tummy, eat large amounts of ice cream and pickles to give you nutrients as a fetus, and undergo the immensely painful labor that comes with childbirth. So when you think about it, your mom did most of the work, while your dad just poked in the right place once and occassionally changed your diaper once or twice in your infancy because he was told to. Happy belated mother's day to all you mothers who squeezed out us nerdy gamers.

Intriguing. So uh, does this obsolete the glitch warped any%? Or are we looking at 5 categories?

They're in a separate room with a chest. Are you planning to use zelda's lullabye to drain the water, or clip your way through the wall with the skulltula? (also, don't you already have bombchu's from spirit temple?)

Haha, yeah, I always knew the 12 white ball WR was beatable. Phew. That was just a test; I'm still working on the event itself, about 1/3rd through. But it's a good feeling to know that on the frame I enter, it's at least possible to achieve that number of white balls. (I even missed one of the balls that had appeared early on, so really I made 15 spawn.)

Hm, Jabo's 1.6 seems to work perfectly for me. Try that. Haven't tested for desynchs yet. A good way to know is to make a 1 rerecord movie just fooling around, completing a few courses and such, make the movie file be about 5 minutes or longer, then replay it and see if the movie desynchs anywhere.

Well, I love to be proven wrong on these matters. Best of luck! My advice: 1) find the right plugin. L4yer once told me he had it working perfectly with onetype of Jabo's, I forget which one but it always gave me problems. If not, use glide 64 napalm, I haven't tested it yet but seeing how it's managed to render many unplayable games, it could make it work. 2) use the anti-ds mupen just in case of desynchs.

However, a similar "when Link enters area" trigger cutscene, when you arrive at Hyrule Castle gate and Zelda+Shiek run away and Ganandorf appears, if you superslide into the cutscene, it's not delayed, nor does holding your shield up affect anything at all (the scene is shown with his shield down). Also, you cannot use superslides to skip Owl cutscenes, also a "when link enters area" trigger.

That's completely different, someone who gets banned would be for a good reason, like breaking the forum rules. I'm also just referring to this particular issue, not on a global scale.

The thing is though that there are many other games that have more possible categories, but are denied it. It's nice and all that Sm and AoS get all these categories, but it feels unjust when other games get categories that are rejected when every single new superflous category is added forAoS and SM. Hence why I have the "all or bust" pedagogue for this particular issue. If SM and AoS get more categories than are needed, then other games should too.

No I don't. It has been proven time and time again that an any% run could have been published using saturn's tricks, but because his ego is so inflated, he won't stand to have a published run with someone else's name on it. A TASer who keeps things to himself, but does not produce any work to show for it does not deserve to grace our forum.

Wrong. Ignoring the problem is never a solution. If a Leech is sucking on your arm, and is very stubborn and has a vice like grip, ignoring it is not going to make it go away. A more permanent solution is needed, because Saturn has been given two warnings from Bisqwit, both of which have been ignored. Going beyond that, Saturn has made easily more than 1,000 offenses in this thread alone. There is not a single SM TASer who has benefited from his arrogance and bullying. I hereby make an official request for Saturn to be banned from TASvideos.org. This site is a community, and Saturn has absolutely zero understanding of how to function in a community, and his presence does more harm than good.

As I learned in Harmony of Dissonance, turbo A is still not the best way to go through text, no matter if you do it on an even or odd frame. It's hard to describe, but sometimes one character has more than one text box, and it takes 3-4 different presses of A on varying frames to get through each paragraph, where turbo would lose 2-3 frames. It might take 5 frames for the first paragraph to go through, then 4 frames for the next, then 6 for the next, then 3, etc. etc. Trust me, with rerecords and such you have the ability to make something as simple as texts optimal, and turbo text really is only the way to go when two different buttons have the exact same effect, such as A or B, so that you can spam and A and B every other frame so that every frame has input that can make the dialogue go. Oh, and the WIP was good. I'm a little undecided about more runs of the game, I really want to see Soma's all soul run finished, but tacking on soma boss rush, julius boss rush, and julius 100% would make the number of categories be 6. I would find it unfair if games like this and super lameoid are allowed to have this many categories, but so very often other games are denied it. It should be either all allowed or none allowed, and if some games aren't allowed more categories than it already has, why should this?

Is it not a good sign if I watch ferret's run and make mental note of possible improvements?

barrel rolling is fine though. I'd say watch meeper's corneria video, it has so far the most entertaining playthrough of any TAS. And she barrel rolled a lot.

HHS, oddly enough I got the exact same desynch. I had gotten the run to synch up to spirit temple from the first WIP, but I forgot what I did to make that happen.

well, since meepers has really only completed one stage, there's only that one stage where you'd know or not if you beat her score (not counting the part where she stopped mid way through in meteo.) Now, if you want more vids to compare with, check out nangosan's vids. Just please, please don't spam the annoying buttons the way he did, like <^>v and up C to change the camera like nangosan did.

Sami, are you sure that climbing up poles is fastest? I was playing around with JSmith's idea to use jump and Z pound to climb faster, and came up with this: climbing test You can see a few times, with the right timing and placement I zipped up the tree, and even without the zipping jumping and using the pound to grab on and jump again should be faster.

" This run is 1448 frames faster than the previous run, which is 24.13 seconds. In the comparable sections, I saved 62 frames, which is just over 1 second." Submission texts are there for a reason. Read them. First time watching this run; good and confusing stuff, yes vote.

Hmm, there's not really any reason the emulated ROM should lag more than the console version.
Mischief Makers lags more than the console, as do a few other N64 games, like Mystical ninja.

Are you sure? It's listed here I think the confusion is that 4 games REQUIRE it to play, 2 games require it for major features, and the others use it for increased performance (of which episode 1 racer is one of them). On mupen, if the game would normally use it, it does, I think? And many of the games on that list desynch, simply because of this.

Star Wars that emulates: -Shadows of the Empire -Pod Racer Don't emulate: -Battle for Naboo -Rogue Squadron Now, here's the problem: Pod Racer uses ExP Pak. It desynchs. I believe I had a lot of graphical problems trying to run it. Someone once got the game to run almost fine, there were a few graphical problems here and there (using Jabo's 1.6.) I suspect the game will run better with Napalm, but the desynchs will likely remain. If the desynchs can be overcome, it'd be nice, but unfortunately I don't think a new level of awesomeness can be achieved vs. what is already done on console, unlike F-Zero X for example.

I'm very sure a movie of 50 minutes can be made to .avi for castlevania... speedruns.net has two such movies. While I may not readily know the solution to your problem, one solution would be to upload the movie here and one of the site's talented encoders might make an .avi for you. The run was not a waste of time, and maybe you could share some of the other TAS runs you have done. The VCR warning seems to indicate maybe that you're using an E! ROM, that runs at 50 FPS, and you're codec may be only encoding for NTSC 60 FPS ROMs?
