It's the game I hate. The author cannot improve that, the run was optimal (notice how I said it will be published anyways?) seeing how he redid many stages and tested many different paths.

*sigh* must every single no vote be accounted for, even though there are always yes votes that go unaccounted for? "explain yourself" to no votes is dumb. Especially considering that the workbench is, in fact, not a democracy, why does the explanation of no votes matter? This is a long awaited completion to a trilogy, and will be published anyways, so what does a no vote matter anyways? Lolo games do not interest me, and after many months of the IRC channel being flooded with Nitrodon's "xxx frames gained in 3-04" or what have you, making me think this run would be exciting, the run bored me, and it is incredibly long to boot. Is that the answer you were looking for?

The 100% would complete all dungeons and not skip any portions of it. An "all dungeons run" actually has most of the dungeons where you skip a lot of stuff. Consider: Deku Tree: Spider Vine Glitch Dodongo Cavern: Bomchus can make you skip 90% of it. Even without bombchus, and getting a bomb bag, you still skip most of the dungeon. Jabu Jabu: Bomb hovering/megaflips allow for major skipping. Boomerang collected, boss defeated, and that's it. Forest Temple: superslide into the elevator cutscene, clip into boss room. Fire Temple: use hoverboots and other items to skip through sections too fast. Boss Key gotten too early, fire tunic not really needed, megaton hammer only gotten for a few things. Water Temple: As AKA described, hover, clip through boss room door, done. Shadow Temple: This will have a little bit of length to it, but some things like the block skip will speed things up, as will mega flipping and crossing gaps. Spirit Temple: There's glitches that allow you to obtain the spirit shield far earlier than possible, as well as clipping through doors and other stuff. This long temple can be dramatically reduced, but like the Shadow Temple, there still will be some[ playing to it. But not a whole lot. This "all dungeons run" doesn't have much use for going under the well, the ice cavern, Gerudo Fortress, or any other minor dungeon. Now is that worth it? Honestly? That would be a no. It would essentially be an BA run with 8 extra boss fights. Now here's the beauty of 100%. You play through ALL of the dungeons, even the minor ones, the way that people expect it would "normally" look like. Yes there will be skips, but items throughout the whole dungeon must be collected, thereby ensuring Link sees the entire dungeon the way people want. Instead of getting the required items or clipping through doors to get to the boss as fast as possible, you have to explore the entire dungeon and get all the items, gold skulltulas, and heart pieces. So I don't want to hear any more about the "all dungeons run" because the 100% would cover that. End. Of. Story. Any% RBA run. 100% run. Nothing more is needed from this game (low% is possible too, but probably not as interesting.) Now, why a run has been done for 100% but no TAS yet? I wanted to try a while back, before I had decided to join up with GuanoBowl before SwordlessLink trumped us. The game does desynch, though not as badly as Majora's Mask. For a sub 6 hour run, there is going to be a LOT of having to watch the entire movie in read only, to check for desynchs. In 1000% speed, a 3 hour WIP will still take like 2 hours to reach. Also, the route has to be updated for TAS.For Yautja's run, certain OoB warps were not allowed which could save time. Also the route has to be modified for TASing, since no savewarping has to be taken into consideration, and after you've gotten a few heart pieces it takes a while to deathwarp, and new tricks, techniques, and high precision route changes have to be taken into consideration. Also, OoT is not that easy to TAS. 100% adds many 3D elements that are very tricky to optimize, such as collecting skulltulas, completing many dungeons 100%. There may be hundreds of tricks in certain rooms that are missed. And last, but not least, we have very many viewers here who are not used to TASes that are that long. SDA may have plenty of runs that exceed 4 hours, especially since they speedrun many newer console games that are longer. (No longer are the days of NES games beaten in 10 minutes.) So, from the various people I speak with, only OoT enthusiasts will have the energy to watch the entire thing. Yautja's run is beautifully set up in segments, none reaching more than 20ish minutes. It is unlikely someone will watch a 5ish hour movie file without getting bored. I know certainly I would, but I am unique (in that I have a low attention span yet still can watch longer movies than most members here.) The last negative part about 100% is that it is evenly divided between amazing, fast paced segments that are sheer enjoyment to watch, and then the other half is not as much cool action going on. I wasn't paying as much attention to, for example, segments at night where Yautja was Gold Skulltula collecting; it was dark, there was no music, and minutes of walking to the gold skulltulas got me a little bored. The Temples were also hotspots of action, but in between it often dragged on, and there's only 8 dungeons and a few mini dungeons. So that's why I decided to not continue.

Yes you can in a record reset version of mupen. No that version has not been accepted from the judges.

you have more cars that you could bump into to give you boosts, rather than just one car that can only give you the boost once in TT. I think you should, in theory be able to beat Saturn's time.

Interesting. I have heard of let's play (having recorded 3 of them with Tompa.) I'm not the biggest fan of it, but go right ahead. MM is a very tough game in many situations, so prerecorded is definitely the way to go. You should also do the locations for the gold gems, since people have trouble finding all 53, myself included. Especially since TheCape keeps forgetting to record for me the locations of all of them.

The fastest way up there is Boost Grabbing, but after getting the Mischief Makers Cartridge and trying that technique out myself, I can't really do it very well. One thing you might want to try, if your reflexes are fast enough, is to throw the clancer diagonally down, to gain some height, then press one of the left or right C buttons mid air. if timed correctly, this will give you even more upward boost. this is a video of 1-01 that gets a time of 10.67", it's probably the strat you're wanting. Do know that the BG strat has been achieved by humans too, getting roughly ~4 seconds faster than that video. You mentioned about doing a MM project... is it TAS or speedrun?

86 rerecords is not going to get you optimal times. Saturn's TT movie is a full 10 seconds faster than yours.

Don't forget JXQ's SM 100% which uses 5 controllers. Also, what happens for games when one controller CAN control more than one character, like Ranger X for Genesis?

In the submission text, you mention all these frame delays and frame savings, which gives one the impression that overall not a lot of frames were saved from a previously tightly optimized movie, yet this was 30 seconds faster. Could you elaborate a little more on how this movie is half a minute faster? Liked the old one, love the new one, yes from me.

The problem is that in order to get Link through the door, he has to be facing a certain angle; in particular, it is not a very steep angle, you still need to kinda bedirectly facing the door. I have gotten 3 different angles to work, none of them are inwards enough so that Link can catch the ground when he jumpslashes.

I've gotten closer on mupen. (I'm there right now testing as well.) Exactly how angled to the right can you be for it to work? I was able to swordslash on the first frame possible, and still missed, so it's going to be a question of angle positioning, not frame precision.

I would rather a new commentary was made for the new movie, in order to keep the presence of a commentary; or other TASes start getting commentaries made (Earthbound was getting such a treatment I believe?) As novel as GuanoBowl's run was, JXQ's unique and innovative commentary should not save it from obsoletion, as it is a sub optimal run with 45+ minutes that can be saved.

The next stage I had started working on (way back when I did this) was DK BtT. I couldn't even match the time, and I think that's pretty much the case for all the other chars/stages. So, probably no more from me since achieving that time with Mario was pure luck and boredom combined.

Delay the frames when you enter the stage until you get what you want. I think that could be easily done with a hex editor, and simply inserting one frame into a new .smv, and if it doesn't work, insert 2 into a new .smv, etc. etc. It worked with me for Mischief Makers in order to get the perfect luck in a particular stage.

Well, you'll just have to wait, seeing as I'm going nuts trying out hundreds of different ways to beat Wormin' up juuuuuuust that much faster. So there's still a lot of stages to go, and there'll be less hexing than before due to new strats that I have to test. This last redo I did was worth it, trust me. Okey Dokey, teaser time! Also, the odds are very good (moreso than before) that a new plugin will be made by the time I am finished.

But did you read the post above yours? It's nice and all to fantasize how cool it would look, but until the playability issues are solved, just ignore this game.

Why me personally? You're booked? Kidding aside, stop insulting people on a whim, and more people will like you. I know that's not what you want, but it's what *we* want, and we want you to stop being such an asshole all the time, because if you take that part away then you're still a down to earth guy who knows his video games really well.

But you, good sir, did not fail. I haven't watched a good Megaman run since.... gosh, Quadrun? Wowzee! long time! I still will never figure out how a NES Megaman movie of 30 minutes takes the cake with 212,000 rerecords, but just goes to show there is nothing you won't test til the ends of the earth. How would you like your yes vote? On a platter served by virgins, entwined in 13 sexy anacondas that are mating, or 1st class?
