I just found out about TASes a year and a half ago, but it started for me in mid-2010 with YouTube videos of Super Smash Bros. (one of my first games on an emulator) and a 16 star run of Super Mario 64 (hadn't played the game yet). Eventually I watched some of webnations' videos, looked at speedruns.net and this site, and eventually started coming here every day (as I still do). I started lurking in August 2010 and didn't see the need to register until I realized I wanted to contribute something, and signed up in November 2010. I never thought I would have the time or skill to make a TAS, but when I read Groudon177's suggestion of Legend of the Lost Spatula in the GBx forum, I was instantly motivated to make my first TAS.

Here's mine. I don't currently have much except my own encodes of my Legend of the Lost Spatula runs (submitted with my TASes so people can watch and vote immediately) and some SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Bottom stuff for my TAS. Eventually, I'll post WIPs of the two GameCube games I'm working on there, when I'm done with my other projects.

strangely, youtube's suggested lists always catch my attention (because you watched list, not the list next to every video) and I end up watching more videos than I planned to. Damn you tube!

Oh man, I've stayed up all night before reading pages on TVTropes. They just have to put all the interesting pages in links on the page you're looking at without explaining at all, so you follow the link again and again. I don't hate it, though. That site's taught me the terminology for video game tropes like American Kirby is Hardcore and Insurmountable Waist Height Fence. I don't get YouTube's recommendations list though. I get all sorts of weird videos that have nothing to do with TASes. The program that chooses them must have many flaws.

Yeah, a computer (with TAS emulators and plenty of ROMs) and some kind of generator to keep it powered for a long period of time.

I'm not sure what to vote. I'm told this game is very popular, but I'm not sure this movie is quite so entertaining, plus the sprites look pretty bad. I'll abstain from voting.

I will probably use Notepad++, since it edits PSXjin movies flawlessly (I used it for SpongeBob SquarePants: Supersponge once) and I assume it works with DeSmuME movies too. I think it's a great idea for us to work together. It was pretty daunting to think I would be doing it alone. I'm kind of busy too, but I aim to TAS the first level soon, and you can test out your strategy for level one and see if it's faster.

Nice use of the HP glitch! Are you two going to submit the run when you're done? I think it's different enough from SM64 that it could get accepted.

I don't think it's fair to make fun of the game's name. They didn't even make up the word, after all; it's been in the English language for over 400 years.

Oh, that's too bad. Anyway, I've watched all the videos linked to here and they're all really entertaining. I hope Huffle or someone makes a full GP/Mission Mode TAS.

That is great! I tried for a long time on my DS a few months ago just to get a three star rank, but you made it look easy! Are you going to do a full-game run (of Grand Prix or Mission mode)?

It's a homebrew game (so here's a link to the ROM) that is very similar to Jezzball for Windows (except this one can actually be TASed). I am just testing the game now, but according to Wikipedia, the game has 49 distinct levels, after which there is an infinite number of levels that are the exact same layout as the 49th level. The goal of a TAS would be for fastest time through the 49 levels, and then ending. But I'd like to see what the community thinks about this game choice.

Is there a Mr. Driller 1 TAS on this site?
Nope. There isn't even a topic. There are ports of it on Game Boy Color and PlayStation though, so someone can always TAS it if they want.

Yeah, I just tested playing normally from the beginning to the end of the Green Circle slide on VBA23.5 and VBA24-M, and there was a lot less lag on VBA24-M by the end of the slide. I think you should stick with VBA-M.

According to Nintendo, it's Kirbys. In case you can't see their flash movie, they say "More Kirbys, More Power!" The run will probably be popular, considering the game will have just come out (hasn't come out here yet; 7 more days).

Your icon is an interesting subject, its the exact first frame of animation that you can flick a Kirby off the ground when one lands.
My icon is from Kirby Super Star, a classic (1996) Kirby game. Again, Mass Attack hasn't come out here yet.

Thanks for those links, MUGG. The new run looks really similar to the original one to me (actually, it looks about the same) but I'm glad it's been improved even more. The input moving with the video is nice, except it gets behind the video a little starting in the middle of BitFS.

He used VBA24-M. I tried it on that and it synced perfectly. Good job so far, DrSaturn! I'm looking forward to seeing more.

It's not that bad. The only level that looks unoptimized is the first one. The rest look good. Good job so far! By the way, if anyone is having trouble syncing this, it works in VBA23.5 and VBA24-alpha (but not VBA24-M).

Super Pika Land Ultra sounds like a good hack to TAS. A run of that game would look really great considering how hard you say the levels are.

I was just looking at the WIPs in the WIP thread when suddenly, I got an idea. Why dont we make one single youtube channel specificly for WIPs? It would be far easier to keep track of instead of searching through multiple channels of different users. This could also help sort out all the completed runs from the WIPs since if a run is complete, you could just delete the video.
That'd require a lot of coordination between the encoders, something I'm not sure is possible.
Especially since quite a few TASers who make runs for this site speak different languages like snark (who posted Paper Mario WIPs) and the Japanese SM64 TASers.

I have all the music from Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy, the Super Smash Bros. series, the Mario Kart series, Paper Mario, Paper Mario TTYD, Kirby's Dream Land 1 and 2, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Kirby 64, Kirby Air Ride, Kirby Mass Attack and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror on my phone. I also have some songs from Cave Story (up to second Balrog fight, where I am now), F-Zero, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Super Mario 3D Land, and New Super Mario Bros. Eventually, I'll put Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Super Mario World, and Mega Man music on it.

Great job! Like hegyak said, the later stages were faster and therefore more entertaining. Voting Yes.

SpongeBob SquarePants (1999-2004 R.I.P. :( ) Hey Arnold! Rugrats All Grown Up! (an OK show) CatDog ChalkZone Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide Drake & Josh (except the last season) Avatar: The Last Airbender (great show) I watched every episode of SpongeBob, Hey Arnold, Ned, and Avatar. I don't like any of Nickelodeon's new shows, though; they're not nearly as good as the old ones.
