Oh...thanks! I'll start using this for temporary encodes now. Does anyone still need an encode with the audio desync fixed? I could fix it myself in a non-linear editing program but it would be a little bit of a hassle.

It's great that you've started on the run, but that WIP is pretty unoptimized. Or is this just a test run?

I didn't, as I don't have ffmpeg, sox, or Avisynth. I'll download them to speed up the encoding process for next time though. Here's the audio desync encode, by the way (it can be added to the submission text if the authors so wish): Link to video If nothing happens when you click Play, try switching the video quality to 240p and back. That seems to fix the problem.

That is very strange. It's been almost 8 hours and it's only at 66%. :/

Thanks, Spikestuff. :) I actually took your suggestion of having an audioless encode a little further, throwing together an encode that starts with the sound on track but slowly gets very much desynced (I would have synced it up myself in Movie Maker, but it would take a little while and I really need to get to sleep). If anyone's interested, this major-audio-desync encode will be available in about 2 hours.

Got4n: See this page for most of the known tricks. You really should read through the rest of this thread though; this is where you'll find most of the information you'll need for a run.

A 100% speedrun of this game has recently been published on SDA, in case anyone is interested in making a 100% TAS.

I'm considering adding the class "Takes damage to save time" to the publication. However, the damage isn't taken until after the run ends. Would this class still be valid for this run?

I think it's probably because it's an improvement, and a small one at that. Nice run though. Yes vote.

I am. It's okay though, at least I have other codecs I can dump from that work with a 64-bit machine. It looks like it's still going to take 6-7 hours to dump the video frames (audio is already dumped), as it runs almost twice as slow when dumping video for me. So I'm sorry about the wait, but I can't make it dump any faster. :/

Thanks for the link, feos. I installed the codec, but Dolphin doesn't seem to recognize it (it's not in the list of codecs it gives me to dump from). If it really can't recognize it, I can just use Microsoft Video 1 to encode it.

Don't forget to use lossy compression.
Lossy compression is faster? And it doesn't matter for this encode if I use it over lossless (I've been using Lagarith)?

Nobody makes encode?
I apologize for the delay. I followed the encoding guide and then left the movie running and encoding while I slept. Apparently, 4x Native encodes very slowly on my computer; it's been encoding the video for 7 hours and is still only 1/3 of the way through. Now that I'm up, I'm going to set it back to 1x Native and try again so now it should get done today. So please be patient as I reencode it yet again.

Thank you very much, RachelB. I'll start on it now. Does it matter anymore if Dual Core and Idle Skipping are enabled or not? I don't remember if that issue was fixed or I should just err on the side of caution and disable them both.

I can whip up an encode of this. Is there an AV sync build for this Dolphin revision I can use? And if not, could I ask someone to compile one?

I didn't see anything too bad with this run. It looks fairly optimized and the missed shots didn't bother me too much. Plus this game is really interesting with all the classic video game references. I'm voting Yes. I haven't played the game, but does the movie need to run to the credits, or can it end input at the last hit on the boss so there aren't a bunch of (presumably) empty frames at the end of the movie?

For games stored on optical discs (like PSX, as you mentioned), redump.org has information (MD5, file size, etc.) on what a perfect dump should match. I'm not sure where to find that information for cartridge-based games though.

It's suboptimal and doesn't complete the game, which goes against two big site rules. You need to read up on the Wiki: Rules before submitting a run like this. Voting No.

A good run of a pretty bad remake of the first three Mega Man games. It looks like it's faster and easier to zip through walls in this game than in the NES games, which is interesting. Good job on this, jc564. Yes vote.

Great run! I loved all the optimized movements. Good job finally finishing this two year project. Voting Yes.
