No vote for entertainment. This run was pretty boring. There's no reason it shouldn't be published to the Vault though.

I'm glad you didn't leave, Abahbob. This is a great tutorial. I might use it sometime later.

Oh, I meant if someone unchecked both boxes and tried to vote to see if they could mess up the site. I wasn't aware that was the way to remove your rating though, so that functionality would be kept.

Your suggestion lacks the option of not rating on one of the categories at all, which I think should probably remain an option.
There could be checkboxes to the left of the sliders that are automatically checked, but can be unchecked to allow members to not rate in a certain category. To prevent abuse, if both boxes are unchecked, the rate button could become grayed out. And it would be great to have this on the publication page itself, as adelikat said.

This is my idea for a new way to rate movies to encourage more people to rate runs. (Please excuse the crudity of the animation.) It's simple and pretty fun to use. I don't know how hard it would be to implement though.

The obsoleted Pokémon Blue run. One of the first TASes I watched, and the first time I had seen the game in years. It also went from totally normal to totally glitchy as the run went on, and the glitches (like cycling over buildings and across water) blew my mind. It did seem like it took a while to get entertaining, but that could have been because I was really really tired.

Maybe an easy game from your childhood (like, on Game Boy Color or Advance). If it's short and easy to play, it's probably easy to TAS. I went with SpongeBob - Legend of the Lost Spatula for GBC for my first run. What games did you play as a kid?

I'm tired of TASVideos and all the shit going on recently. I'll come back eventually for TWW stuff. Bye.
So...you care about the site?
Abahbob actually did say there that he's coming back eventually. So that, combined with the length of his post, suggests that he will come back a lot sooner than MUGG, if MUGG ever does come back. I can't believe we lost two great TASers because of the new site changes though.

MESHUGGAH, haven't viewed this yet, but I just wanted to say that I appreciate your work in improving these old, now-Vaulted runs.
Me too. As for the run, nice improvement. No for entertainment, yes for publication!

Yes, that one person was wrong to post that one TAS Competition thread. And I don't think you can delete it now. Just change the thread title and start a discussion on real-time speedrun competitions.

OK, but I can think of a way to best it! What if I use 2P as the Confederate army and have it play horribly?
I don't think that would be considered an impressive movie. You could do that for any game. The technical value here comes from manipulating the computer to lose quickly.

No way. He was such a great TASer and valuable contributor! But I guess nothing can be done about it now...

At the top of the page, the poll asks "Did you find this movie entertaining?" instead of "Should this movie be published?". I want to say "Yes vote, publish." The run isn't very entertaining, so I can't vote Yes, and have to say "Meh to the question asked, and Yes to publish and obsolete".

CoolKirby, I think the currently published run got a meh vote for the same reason!
It's the new poll question that confuses people.

Good improvement. Meh for entertainment, yes to obsoleting the currently published run.

Wow, I figured Lynx wasn't TASable yet, since I hadn't seen any published Lynx runs. Apparently it has been for a while. Nothing wrong with this TAS though, other than entertainment. Publish to the Vault!

Why?
He said "Reasons withheld." That means he won't tell you why even if you ask.

Thanks for the encode, Spikestuff. This run has very high technical value and is entertaining (that's a Yes vote).

Thanks for the encode, antd! Wow, this game is bad. I should have known Nintendo didn't make it. As for the run, it looks pretty good. Sometimes, you run off of slopes instead of jumping off of them though; does that waste any time? If the poll asked me if the run was entertaining, I would say No, but since it wants to know if it should be published, then sure, as long as it's not too unoptimized.

He probably just has really bad internet and it took him 7 months to upload it.
That still wouldn't be a good excuse for submitting it to the site. Even if his Internet was that bad, it would take fewer months to upload it to Microstorage and post the link in the forum (submitting takes a while).

Not impressive. There was no gameplay at all. You only pressed a few buttons on 3 frames and called it a run. Because of that, it's not entertaining, so it can't be published as a Moon, and it doesn't complete the game, so it can't be published in The Vault. There's really no place for this run to go but Gruefood.

Uh...that's a reason to vote Yes? What if the run was horribly unoptimized?
