That's great news, Mr_Sweed. It must be such a relief to have the 27-year cancer finally gone. Hope your health continues to improve.

Oh. When you said "r81 or earlier", I thought you meant there was at least an r82 that supported memory watch.

How?
They allow you to search for memory addresses in the entire program of Hourglass so you can find them in the game. Heldtogetherwithtape knows how to use Cheat Engine though, so he can search for them for you.

I would also try memory watching the game, on the off chance that the relevant variables are easy enough to locate that they can be of use
Small problem. mem wach does not work in hourglass r-81 or erlear
You're restarting the run anyway, right? Can't you just restart on a revision that supports memory watch? Otherwise, you can probably use MHS or Cheat Engine for memory watch. By the way, It's great to see you had made such progress on the run (world 8!) and even managed to contact the game's programmer (which would be really hard for most of the games on this site)!

I think I remember hearing about this having happened once before, and if I remember correctly, it was some odd bug that was corrupting the hotkey configuration. I guess the best thing to do would be to download a fresh version of the emulator and set everything up again, including new savestates. By the way, I didn't see this thread pop up almost two months ago, and since no one else posted, I assume they missed it too.

The main problem with route planning in this game though, is what socks to get...
I had that planned out too, at least for Jellyfish Fields, as well as a testrun for that area. Unfortunately, the run desyncs, and I didn't want to record another, so I would have to remember my route again. I would appreciate it if you made that strats video. I have my share of tricks that I haven't revealed yet too, and a TAS would use those and also some shortcuts that are already known like the bungee spatula trick by frozenstar0, and the (likely) TAS-only clam skip by me.

What about 007 ? :p
It's also unoptimized. We'll have to see how that one does.

Thank you for providing an encode for us, iiro2. Very nice run, Dooty, and nice improvement to the published run! Yes vote.

I agree that you should take your time and optimize the run to make it as fast as possible. Find all the skips and glitches you can and apply them to the run so it won't be obsoleted for a long time. It may seem like a lot of work, but your efforts will be rewarded with a run that is much more fun to watch and a more positive viewer response. Good luck!

If there are no negative sideeffects to using v1.0/1.1 of OoT as opposed to 1.2 then I don't see a problem in switching?
They were talking about real-time speedrunners. They have to use the 1.2 version since it's the only one available on the Virtual Console. A 100% TAS would use the JPN 1.0 version, like the other TASes.

In that case, what are the 75 fastest Spatulas for this game?
It'll probably be fastest to get all the spatulas in an area and move on to the next area instead of jumping all over the place. Remember, this isn't Super Mario 64. SpongeBob stays in the level after picking up a spatula. I was planning on making a chart with all of the spatulas, which ones require the Bubble Bowl and which ones require the Cruise Bubble, but I never got around to it.

Great run, gamerfreak5665! I agree that you could have completely optimized it or entertained during waiting periods, but it still looks good enough to publish. I haven't played the game, but it looks like a great game choice with lots of action and beautiful graphics. Voting Yes!

Very interesting thread. I figured this idea would have started with a submission, maybe a few years later, but they were considering this during the Famtasia days, with no DDR display for lowest button presses or possibly even on-screen button display!

Nice TASes. The Wooden Construction one is my favorite one. I think all of the Super Mario 74 posts are mixed in with the Super Mario 64 posts, and that's why there wasn't a topic for this game before.

no desync on what I can tell on the desync emulator.
Dolphin only desyncs when some simple settings aren't set correctly, and on very few games. Otherwise, it is a very sync-stable emulator, moreso than Mupen. I'll watch this pretty soon, but it looks good.

Wow, how weird. A similar thing happens in Kirby 64: When you fall in a pit, if you pause the game while your health is counting down, it freezes too.

I think we need a cam hacked version.
Well, I found addresses like 02002E64 which seem to correspond to the camera, but when edited, it doesn't do anything. Instead, another address is responsible for that; said address unfortunately also seem to change every floor.
How did you know where to move around in the walls to reach the next floor without a hack like that?

It works better in Media Player Classic - Home Cinema. The view is still mostly green, but you can still see what's happening. By the way, the link to the game in the OP is dead, but the game can be found here.

You really broke this game. I like all the glitching through walls, and I found the run pretty entertaining. Yes vote. I haven't played this game, but the final boss is the chandelier-uvula? I figured it would be the furnace (the heart of the house in the movie).

What...happened to the poll? I don't see it anymore.
I deleted it.
I didn't know you could do that. Was it deleted because there were too many No votes, or because there were fake votes? Or was it an accident, like the Battletoads run poll?

Not one of the worst games ever made, but still pretty bad. Good TAS though. Looks optimized and it's nice to see a full playthrough of the game (including the nonsensical ending). Yes vote.

All ages? You sure about that? This doesn't sound like it would make for a good TAS, not only because it's a little kid's game, but because it's a memory game, which is not impressive since all you have to do is use savestates to find the right cards/objects and select them.

That's great! It has a better chance of being reproduced on console now.

I've wanted to see a TAS of this game since I saw that review. I've noticed that TASes of bad NES games are more interesting after I've seen AVGN's reviews; they get past the parts he couldn't get past and make them decently entertaining. I'll watch this later.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but why use Dolphin 3.0-616 if you're starting a new run? Wouldn't it be better to start from the latest revision? It might have fixed that problem.
