Who said there can only be one on the site?
i guess i kinda started this and my reason for that was that i think i remember people in the SMW "Glitched" TAS submission as well as the Kaizo 2 submission talking about how much mario there already is on this site and Super Mario World by itself as there are 4 branches of the original game and 2 of Super Demo World. the thing with SMW TASes is that there are only so many things you can do to make things as fast as possible so as some have been saying in this submission it can be very repetitive and after a while it would seem pointless to continue to accept SMW hacks b/c it's nothing new. I personally enjoy SMW TASes very much and love watching them regardless of whether or not they are submitted/accepted to this site and I personally think that the best thing to do would be to submit a TAS of a "good" kaizo or pit hack (something like "Item Abuse 2" or "Mario Must Die") as they show off a lot of things that you can abuse in SMW that don't get shown off in the original simply because there's no place for them.

i would like to say that i loved this run and i think that it would be great if it was published however, if only one run of this game, this run or your all exits run, could be published, i would prefer that the all-extis run be published if/when you finish it due to it showing off more of the hack and it being a better TAS as you have admitted bahamete

A RUN ON THE JAPANESE ROM OF THIS GAME HAS ALREADY BEEN ACCEPTED ON THIS SITE
That isn't really the same situation. While i think the rule is silly, and should be abolished altogether, if only to encourage more runs done by Japanese TASers, it's silly to think Abeshi's run sets a precedent here. The situation was entirely different.
a few things: if you want to be nit-picky about versions of games you accept, but then accept a violation of this, and then get nit-picky about the situations in which you accept said violation, you see where this could go... and also, while i was trying to be pretty objective in my last post, my thing is speed is speed so what ever you can do to be faster is better and should be approved. discriminating between versions is like the olympics saying "we'll allow all races of people to compete, but we'll adjust scores accordingly (think track & field)"

umm... wow! first off let me say that i started reading this topic sometime around 1 a.m. and it's now 2:30! holy crap! my thoughts: AMAZING run and such an easy yes vote! marvelous work SL while both sides have some good points about the whole japanese vs english version, it surprised me that somehow everyone failed to mention that A RUN ON THE JAPANESE ROM OF THIS GAME HAS ALREADY BEEN ACCEPTED ON THIS SITE (and was later obsoleted), but as one user pointed out, that has been great because this was a very entertaining discussion. unfortunately u failed to mention one of my favorites recently, the most recent smw any%, where people said that a new run submitted for another branch should obsolete that run (lolz) so in review; imo it's almost undeniable that this run will be accepted due the facts that it is infinitely superior to its predecessor (technically and gameplay wise), and like i said, this site has already accepted a japanese run of this game Edit: and also something i forgot about while typing this post, someone mentioned earlier that the opinions of the respective communities for games should be more important that the TASvideos community, but if that were true, can you imagine how many potential smw hacks could be on this site? the smw community loves them and when kaizoman666 submitted his TAS of Kaizo Mario World 2 (co-TASed by fethy and tfb726) it received i believe around 70-80% positive feedback, but was still rejected because it wasn't in the best interests of TASvideos. this doesn't mean members of those communities should be excluded from TASvideos, but as for this site the rules should apply and be the result of the majority of opinions of all users of this site, not just one-game fans

but would anyone be against getting the goal sphere again from YI1 again since they would be right there anyway?
I would. Redoing a level for the goal sphere isn't very entertaining, in my opinion.
I see what you're saying and I don't necessarily disagree, but think about certain levels (i.e. DP1) where the normal and secret exit are both at the very end of the level, so you're essentially doing those levels twice as well. this is simply food for thought, and whatever the ultimate decision is I will support as it is of course up to the TASers to decide

i wish i could express my true appreciation for this TAS in words, but sadly i just don't think that would be possible. you are perhaps the best thing to happen to Super Mario Bros., and easily one of the best TASers on this site the sheer entertainment value of this run is just unreal and the fact that it's also (probably) as fast as you can beat the game warplessly is just beyond understanding amazing work

i have no idea what route you plan to take, but if it's similar to the any% and you do chuck-eat in YI1 to skip the first castle, obviously at some point you're going to beat the special world and be right back at yoshi's house, right next to YI1. i understand this is some extreme gray area, but would anyone be against getting the goal sphere again from YI1 again since they would be right there anyway? note: this is probably extremely badly worded, but i hope you understand what i'm trying to say

i personally think that labeling this movie as "glitched" would be perfectly fine, because it just seems to be the standard name for runs on this site that do things to beat the game in a way it wasn't intended to be beaten (sorry this is very vague, but it kind of has to be because each individual "glitched" run is unique in its own way). even if the name is arbitrary, it seems to work for the most part as most everyone understands that just about every run on this site uses glitches, but that doesn't qualify them as being "glitched."
except that the traditional any% is VERY glitched as is.
just rewatched the new submission, and i guess i forgot just how many glitches are exploited, but imo, only the first world seems extremely glitched, and after that the rest of the levels seem relatively normal, while with this run obviously once you get into yi3 things just go crazy

voting no is quite frankly disrepectful to kaizoman666, bahamete, mister, and pangaeapanga for all the hard work they put into redoing a tas that most of them just submitted a few months ago. they started and completed this TAS with the goal of obsoleting the current any%, which they will have done once the new improvement mister found is put in, while the same cannot be said for masterjun, who made his TAS with the hopes of showing off a completely new and gamebreaking glitch and making a new category. great job to all 4 of you as this was a top notch TAS
Both TASes were exceptionally made and both should be accepted to the site, in my honest opinion.
I agree completely

The more is skipped, the more WTF is felt by a viewer. I vote for WTF & no credits. Yes, the only thing I could say in my mind after I saw this run was: "What?"
^ my thoughts exactly! great run masterjun and this was an easy yes vote! and to both sides for and against this being the any% run on the site, both sides are wrong and both sides are right, it's a big gray area and there's really no right answer, but this run was submitted to be in a new "glitched" category, and i think we should accept his wishes and put it as "glitched"
