For the pitch black rooms in Platinum, you can use the Bound and the Ghost spells. It's not a really good trick, but they bounce on walls, and you can discover some things with it.

No, some rooms in this game simply are pitch black, no matter how high Light Jade is. If you can see your character perfectly, and nothing else, it's one of those rooms. If your character is in the dark too, it's a room where Light Jade can help.

Wow, we're like the coolest geeks on Earth. We're crazy video games fans, and we have girlfriends. Damn we rule :) For me, it was: 1) No 2) Yeah 3) Yeah But I'm on a case to get a girl that would make me answer "yes" on question #1... :)

oh so there's no speedrun of the whole game yet? fuck, i'd love to see it be done!
Nice language. We do not discourage people from trying to TAS a game, if you wanna see this game TASed that badly, you could try to do it. We'll even encourage you!

Seriously, what will TAS look like in a year? Or 10?!? I bet we'll be able to make one movie file that works for every NES game ever created...

I was just talking to Fabian the other day about what would happen when we run out of good games to TAS.
<Fabian_> eventually we'll end up with "non-fireflower no switch palace only complete every other big boo world exit no dragon coins only kill enemies with spinjumps SDW"
I don't think is very entertaining, myself. But I wish you luck with it.
new games always come out.
Still waiting for a good XBox 360 emulator with re-recording though... We can't invent old games... =/

Doing it at normal speed, or even at slowdown, is not really an option when it comes to shooting down those enemies (oh, and hitting them in the process as well ;) they move too irradic, and you miss when you're too close (like, "here's a 2 meter target 1 meter away from you, try to hit it..."). The sound is nice, but I'm not sure if I'll go for that.
Yeah, and if you go for highest score too, it will be hard to be synchro with the music, since you'll probably run into a "must kill that guy on THAT VERY frame else I can't kill it". So I say while running in empty places, you could try to time some jumps/shots with the music.

(I wonder if there is anything cool that could be done in synchronization with the music?)
I like that!! The easiest thing to play with is the gun, since it's a shot; a sound. Jumping is 2 "beats", the jumping and the landing. Picking up stars would be the only place where it won't fit with the music, since we don't want to slow down between each pick up... That would be really hard to do all of that (killing stuff, jumping over holes, getting a super score, and to play along the music), but really cool to watch. Frame Advance isn't the best thing when it comes to music synchro, since you can't really hear the music while doing that...

There's only one thing about getting the stars and stuff like that, they take about 10 frames to pick up. I remember that when you pick up a star, your character freezes for a really short amount of time.

It'd make a good speedrun for sure, but for a TAS would be pretty boring. You can run diagonally as much as possible to make it seem faster, and do double-jumps on top of columns, but it wouldn't make the run any faster than just holding up most of the time and jumping when necessary.
Yeah, the only place where there could be some competition is on the boss fights. Then again, just aim for the head and voila. But it could be really interesting to see the player blaze thru the later Worlds while jumping like crazy.

Very very awesome, that second video clearly shows that each blade has its purpose. Can't wait to see the metal rollin' in the next stages!

I think the k.sludges battles are cool, like the dragon spamming on bosses. So the question is, which one is the most boring? I wouldn't mind seeing one or the other, as the run is really cool in general.

So basically, if you happen to fight a Starman Super, try to get the sword, to add a "holy shit" effect. Plus, it'll be some extra damage for Poo, and might help for the next bosses. (Unless Flash Omega kills everything) If you don't fight a Starman Super, don't get it.

I've watched it, thanks to Hanzou, and it looks really nice!! Too bad there's a lot "watch my hand throwing something" animations in Crash Man's stage... But still, very very good!

Huh... I think it's just me, but I get major desyncs when I play this movie (or any of the latest Rockman2 movies)... Do we have a new version of FCEU? It desyncs right at the beginning (at the Start/Continue "Password" screen)...

bazooka becomes useless later on during big fights, especially bad for a TAS since it hits everything near it and at the end, doing 50 dmg to a starman doesn't help, it only does decent damage to the selected target and the regular bazooka is only about 150 somewhat dmg not 300, thats the super bazooka and I believe that requires a IQ of 50+ some to make, which means taking Jeff well into his 50's for lvls, hardly time worthy in a TAS.
So you can't manipulate his IQ gain when he levels up? I'm pretty sure Jeff doesn't get 1 IQ point per level.

Unless all games reach the bosses at the same time you'll always have a situation where you have to deal with a boss and a level at the same time.
Yeah, it happened a LOT in the Megaman X and X2 movie, and it's still incredibly entertaining to watch. Of course, we're talking about FOUR games at the same time, so I'm pretty sure there will be loads of weird movements in the three other games while passing tricky parts in one. But still, I'm sure it'll be fun to watch, else they wouldn't think about making that movie.

I usually listen to music when doing the IBJ. I just press the key on every beat and it works. So house music fans, get a song between 125-130 bpms (I don't remember the exact bpm), and bomb away!

It's just that I need ready to use 512x480, bmp screenshots, because the old software I'm using only takes bmp, and can't split lower than 32x32 pixels. So if I use 256x240 screenshots, I can't get a "block" from the screenshot. I'd have to use 16x16 pictures, but I can't. I'm basically working on an RPG project with a friend. I know it's a weird question, but I really need 512x480 bmp screenshots, fresh from the emulator. Oh well, I guess it's impossible. Thank you all for your help!

Thanks for the help!! Don't worry, I don't need bigger, bmps pictures because I think it's better (cause it's not), I just *need* to work with double size bmps...
