No, actually, if you compare Japanese Red to Japanese Yellow, you'll notice two less text boxes in Japanese Yellow that you have to click through to save. I'll give you two user files (ignore the trainer names) to compare.

I'm no good at LUA scripting. I read through the manual, but couldn't understand a lot of it, even though I took a computer programming class in school.

I've tried lots of frame delays, and I can't seem to find any that give me D1 or F1 as Byte 1 for Japanese, or 0x64D0/EA or anything like that for Yellow. I have no idea about LUA scripts or anything like that, so what should I do? Some things I've tried are: Left+A on boot-up, 0,0,0,0/1/2/3/etc 1,0,0,1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10 L+A,L+A,0,0,0,1 I have no idea how to proceed.

I'm having trouble manipulating the TID for Yellow (both versions.) What should I do to ensure an optimal TID manipulation? I don't know how to write LUA scripts or anything like that, and the closest I could find is either for an older version of BizHawk so the frame to save on is inaccurate, or is for VBA which doesn't guarantee it being optimal and VBA is obsolete.

That seems like a cool idea. Speaking of the Japanese games, there should be an update to the single SRAM glitch movies. Japanese Yellow is the fastest out of the four games, since you don't have to advance through as much text before turning the power off. A resync of English Yellow may also be a good idea. Here are the TIDs I'm trying to manipulate (without success): English Yellow: 0x64D0/EA Japanese Yellow: Byte 1=0XD1 or 0XF1

Japanese Yellow would be even faster than Japanese Red, since you don't have to advance through as much text before turning off the game. I'll look into more ways for English Yellow now. But how do you change the palette?

What do you mean by 0,0,5,5? Also, I can't seem to manipulate 0X64D0 or EA or anything like that in Yellow. I have tried many different frame delays, but I could only do the delays in Pokeguy's any% world record, with the soft resets.

That makes sense, the map script is scrambled. I just wish the save would load normally.

Nice work, yes vote! How would I do something similar for Yellow version? I'm thinking of improving the Yellow TAS by some frames if possible, with the 10 frames improvement by MrWint without GBC load... probably more with it. I may have worded that wrong, but it's the best I could say it.

Shouldn't it be the other way around, though? An 8:04 leading to 7:37? Isn't that how improvements work?

To be honest, a lot of that was hard to understand. Wouldn't save corruption mean that after the run, you wouldn't be able to view your pokemon from the menu or do a normal fight? (I tested getting some pokemon out of the PC after the published run and it worked, but when I play the game with save corruption, the fights go terribly wrong.) I think the whole back sprite thing is interesting, but I don't know how I would do that. I have been working on a new catch em all TAS with the RTA route, but only made it to the DVs since I'm not good at botting out the Gen 1 misses or anything like that. Since I can't see (at all, literally), in order to find what the DVs are, I had to ask someone else (in this case, my parents) what they were. In Red/Green I can move around since the frames while moving are set to non-input frames, but they fixed that in all future games, making it hard for me to move around in the English games.

Note: in my TAS, I don't know if there's a faster TID, so if I submit it when it's done, you may see the RTA version of the TID manip.
