Blondie reminds me of Jessica Simpson. Might be from Dukes of Hazzard? Or it could have been from that Ricky Bobby movie... Talladega Nights. I remember there was a few blonde girls in there. Remember, these clips could be from trailers, which often feature clips that are not even present in the movie.

This is patently false. MKVs are just as acceptable for primary encodes as MP4s; any decent media player these days is going to support both.
Yep, plus the fact that BKDJ has been making very high quality encodes for many N64 (among other systems) games for this site for about 5 years now. I don't know how many times he's saved me from having to download a Majora's Mask wip, and cursing because of desyncing. *snickers*

Before anyone comments on this, you should know that this glitch is incredibly time consuming. It takes approximately 20 minutes to increment your powerup status high enough to be able to produce a goal sphere.
Not as bad as entering a pipe 255 times to warp to FOI3.

Does the exit count increase upon using a goal sphere in a Switch Palace? Specifically what can appear besides the naked koopa and goal sphere? What's PI?
I'm not sure, I'm away from my computer, so I can't check. I know when I used the goal exit in YSP, it cleared the level, triggered the save-continue screen, and flattened the switch (without the farting animation)... But it did not activate any of the blocks in other levels!

Interesting... If you use the select-box-goal in the switch palace, you get all sorts of funky things to happen, plus the switch doesn't even get activated.

Does making an unbreakable half deku-stick prevent any of these glitches? I guess if you have to put your stick away...

I don't feel he was rude, in fact his post was quite informative. I know it's a bit disappointing when a groundbreaking new trick comes along and someone shoots down the prospect of it working in most many scenarios, but I don't think jimsfriend meant to belittle you or be rude. That being said, congratulations on continuing to break the game! I've really lost understanding on how these glitches work, but it's really interesting to watch!

My breakfast would taste really really bad if I didn't brush my teeth before eating it. Also, I often sleep with my mouth open often, and it really dries it out, you don't want to have crusted phlegm as part of your meal.

Come on, nobody remembers the NATE thread? And here's the ensuing discussion on TASVideos. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3750

I need 1 thing. Custom built iphone with a solar battery (which is probably optional). http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2008/10/using-the-iphones-gps-without-a-network-connection.ars I'm sure there's some app that let's you use the GPS network as an SOS device, which will work almost anywhere if I don't have 3G/Edge/GPRS or wifi hotspots.

Awesome run! Too bad you could not figure out VoB4b! I'm still convinced we that level could be possible in some mysterious way. Oh yeah, you are missing Vanilla Secret 3 in your comments. I actually read them all :P.

Now if this was tongue-in-cheek, forgive me, but... Blanket statements like this really don't add anything to the discussion. What's the point of saying the obvious, rather than encouraging discussion. That is the point of this topic, right? Oh, but I guess there's no point in discussing it, since the GODLY admins have spoken. I'm sorry, but you just wasted the shortest post you ever made, warp.

I think this is the first topic I've created in literally 2 or 3 years. Just noticed that the site has started to prune 2 spaces after every period into 1 space. I don't appreciate my characters going missing, regardless of whether my paragraphs are grammatically or lexicographically correct. That is all. That is all And yes, I know that in reality the spaces are not really being pruned, but displayed differently.

Xkeeper himself was once banned from Sonic Retro, and now he's one of the admins there, likewise Tweaker (another Sonic Retro admin) used to dodge a ban almost a decade ago. Now they're using their second chance to do an excellent job, and Sonic Retro would have missed a lot of useful contributions if their two bans were enforced to be permanent...
I agree that Xkeeper was/is a useful member. Old-timers might remember he was an OP in IRC (but then again, so was Xebra ;) ), if that counts for anything. He of course didn't agree with some of the philosophies that drove this site, and he use the method of "pounding a square peg in a round hole" to reinforce his point. I don't think he really means to attack any members personally; only if the point he wants to get across is related to why he thinks the site is run incorrectly. And he consistently voted No, right? I'd say that's a valid use of the voting system. Abusive, yes? But it's really his opinion. It wasn't like the laughing_gas ban, where that was construed as a personal attack by voting no on all of JXQ's submissions. Wait, did laughing_gas even get banned for that? For fucks sake... you should have put a poll on this topic: "Should Xkeeper have been banned? I'd vote "meh". I am not saying that he shouldn't have gotten banned, but rather that it's sad that a useful member of our community is now behind more red tape.

funnyhair: be sure to pick up The Silmarillion once you finish the LOTR. For me it was even better than the original trilogy. Children of Hurin was also surprisingly good. Christopher Tolkien is very faithful to his father's writing style.
Agreed on all fronts. I just cry when I realize how miniscule all the LOTR battles are in comparison to the Silmarillion. I mean you have a freaking Balrog army fight against Gondolin with Ecthelion and Glorfindel (arguably the same Glorfindel from LOTR) slaying boatloads of them (and Gothmog, who was arguably as powerful as Sauron). Then you have such violent fighting that half a CONTINENT gets sunk because of Melkor? Battle of Pelennor Fields?! Such a minute battle in comparison. More like Battle of Pussy Fields. The etymology is a bit cumbersome, but the book is practically an anthology, so I can understand why it's tough to pick up.

I was assuming that you would use both Mario and Luigi throughout the whole game. That would total to eight minutes if it were the original SMW.
Yeah, but when you assume, you make an ass out of U and ME ;) It's fairly obvious that 2 player should be considered only for a portion of the overworld of SDW. For SMW, I don't really see a usage, unless you can somehow carry items over for both Mario and Luigi, and even then it's a long shot.

You guys need to think outside the box. 1) The best idea for 2 players is to split up and fork the route to eliminate map movements. 2) A secondary idea is to carry an item over in your item select box (which is essentially eliminating map movements to toad houses) with both Mario or Luigi. 3)You can kill mario or luigi and steal all his lives when you have finished with him. You're fucking kidding me if you tell me that a fast death/live stealing on the map screen takes 8 minutes. More like 30 seconds. Still, map movement optimization may not even save 30 seconds (and that's after you count the transitions you need when you actually want both mario and luigi alive) 4) After a save, you can reset and start with 1 player, this takes time, and you lose your powerups. jimsfriend, and I have been discussing/debating this for about 5 years now. It might be possible, actually in many cases, it's quite close. But if you think you need to make up 8 minutes or more, you are a bit wrong! Where could 2 player make a difference? How about taking an item from a toad house and then using it to bypass an autoscroller with dragon coin glitch? What about a new overworld route? Honestly, the possibilities are numerous, and with all the new glitches, it's hard to estimate if you can really save time.

4) You can bring yoshi into boos tower. You can have a spring in the item box. You can get above the level in the beginning with yoshi spring glitch. The only thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to get in the other side. I've tried tossing the spring off the far right ledge and smashing myself into the wall pipe world 4 style, but was never successful at it. Could be worth looking into. The tricky part is getting a spring and a yoshi to boos tower. If you can't make it the conventional way (going through the levels, forcing yourself through impossibly)........ luigi :DDDDD just reset at your last save before going to star world and start your game back in 2player.
An idea from 2006... A man can dream can't he :D
