I think Kyman misspelled his nickname when he signed up. It should be "Hymen" because he totally raped this game. I also realized that Kyman wasn't even born when this game came out.
I did not watch the documentary. One documentary will not change my impression on general capitalism or the need for an FDA.
I think what the FDA does is fine. There's a reason it takes 20 years to get something done in the US: we are in a molasses-slow bureaucracy. One reason is because America is so sue-happy and protest-laden. These guys (the FDA) operate as such because they have to cover their asses.
Imagine if they didn't exist. You'll end up with syringe tips and HGH in your Zyrtec. Oh yeah, you might get a non-lethal does of melamine in your milk, it's ok you didn't die, all you needed is a kidney transplant.
Imagine if they didn't exist. Be thankful for what you got, it could be so much worse.
Nice commented source :). I wonder if spectral analysis can be done to improve some of the edge transitions. Heck, I wonder if comparing frequency content in general will make correlation better. With MATLAB it's pretty simple to experiment with, but I think about it more when I have time.
Can you post the source and/or algorithm used to generate these images?
I'm assuming you grab a bunch of screenshots, assign them an "average pixel value", and then try to correlate each individual pixel in the publication image? It seems like if you post a histogram of the images uses, there are quite a few used extensively, and some outliers?
Very awesome concept, I am very impressed :).
I laugh at their lack of a debouncing circuit on the reset line. Yes, that's a good idea, invert your reset and send it out globally before cleaning it up.
EDIT: To be fair, they are probably using very beefy components, I don't think metastability or runt pulses are too big of a concern. It would be nice to see a Schmitt trigger, or something :P.
For trig functions:
CORDIC is used very frequently in DSP applications where you may not have a FPU (or even Fixed Point) multiply/divide unit available.
I stopped voting MEH when I realized that showing indifference doesn't help or hurt anyone.
Voting no, because MEH doesn't exist in my brain. I abstained on voting on the last OOT topic, and I don't feel like abstaining this time.
my thought in IRC a few months ago:
Aug 09 20:43:36 <agill> well I've said why I would vote no on the previous jap run
Aug 09 20:43:39 <agill> but i abstained
Aug 09 20:43:47 <iDeign> why are you voting no on this one?
Aug 09 20:43:51 <agill> in short: poor game choice
Aug 09 20:43:52 <agill> oh
Aug 09 20:44:03 <agill> because I think a no vote will have more power in this
Aug 09 20:44:13 <iDeign> poor game choice? lol
Aug 09 20:44:13 <agill> the other run had too much controversy
Aug 09 20:44:18 <agill> yes
Aug 09 20:44:21 <agill> do an all temples run
Aug 09 20:44:24 <agill> i'll vote yes
Aug 09 20:44:34 <agill> but fucking chicken egg sidequest?
Yeah I take the same stance on this game. Nicely done, but I'd prefer to see at 120 star run or a 16 star run (reiterated in this topic: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=169676#169676)
So my no vote is not because this run was done badly, but rather... it's just not my cup of tea.
He's right, I came to post the same thing to you.
The fact that he makes the glitch aware to a TASer that submits runs to this site is far better than what Nathan, Raffy, Laffy-Daffy really what matters, regardless of who found it first.
Thanks a lot TheFinalBoss726!! I'm glad you shared your findings with a SMW taser that is active on this site!!
It is rare these days to have someone willing to share their work. I'm happy to hear that some people still encourage collaboration.
I'm not someone who accuses anyone of lying, so rather than being skeptical, I will be supportive :).
We have some of the best SMW/SDW TASers around. The original USA/Sweden team of Jimsfriend, Fabian, and JXQ, the "small" team of SkamastaG and TheGreginator, and the new really impressive Japanese TASers (Mister, ISM, Gocha, and others), I'm sorry if i missed a few.
But I've spoken with many of them, none of them know about such a glitch. Such a glitch would be very nice if a demo could be given. Unfortunately, I don't have Skype, nor do I have access to a computer where I can install it, but such a glitch would put you in the record books for SMW TASing.
I hope one day you will post it, after you finish your hack, because I really think nobody here has figured out how to do it. But I've been wrong before.
I am unaware of any method to bring an item through a door. If there is one, it would open up numerous possibilities for more time saved.
As far as I can tell you can hold items and take them through most pipes, (VoB4 has 1 exception that I know of, there may be more). You can also maintain your flight meter through both doors and pipes... but taking items through doors is impossible, as far as I know, unless you somehow store them in your select box.
I think the Apple vs Adobe debate is overblown. Apple usually has their way with muscling around the big guys like Cisco does in the router space. Either way Apple does make great user-friendly products (in comparison with their competition), and that's what the masses will buy.
I'm more interested in the APPLE/ARM(Marvell-based) vs Intel CPU wars. Arm has basically eaten Intel's lunch in the CE space for the past few quarters, and that space is by far the fastest growing. It's like MediaTek in the BB/MMP space, if Apple can bundle everything they can reduce their BOM cost for their CPUs with an in-house solution, Intel will never compete. Intel will probably threaten to pull out of the Macbook/iMAC product, but I don't think they have the balls to do so. If Apple does really grab a significant portion of Arm, I think we will have another price war. But Arm's real strength is in the IP area, which really doesn't fit well in Apple's product line.
I for one think that Kyman and his fellow team are doing us a very nice favor by posting all these strategies. That's been sorely missing from these message boards since about 2006ish... Of course I understand that you don't want to post all the tricks in the run before submitting, but what you have done is quite awesome nonetheless.
I really bet that sharing will help improve this run (and others) even more, evident by the little frame wars that people are having on youtube as well as feedback given here.
Thank you for all your amazing videos videos! :)
