My score/level number is one of the best in the game, which makes sense, since I do the "tetris only strategy," and tend to die at higher speeds much easier than the other top players. If I had Baxter's endurance, I would be able to get pretty crazy scores at low levels. My main weakness right now is not being able to spin pieces in both directions. HOLY CRAP, we have RZ Stephen on the list. That guys QUADRA (Tetris with pieces that fall) is the best in the world. Quadra can be found here: http://quadra.sourceforge.net/ I urge you to download it, and view his crazy replay. I bet he'll be in the top spot soon enough :)

That should be plenty. I'm running MOOOOOOPEN fine off of integrated graphics. Are you sure you downloaded the right version of mupen?

I think I have a hack called "Yoshi's Frozen Paradise". It modified the first 2 worlds of YI and made them SDW style difficulty!

Okay, a bit of a situation. Im up to throwing Princess Funbagg up on the miniboss skip section and need some help. Do I have to go all the way down then back up again for the glitch to work? Ill let you guys help me Im posting it now up to where I am... you have just enough time to pull it off I believe but it has to be fast! My best clue is to get the bomb out as fast as possible, let it zoom around on the platform cause it wont run into you and explode. Then once it hits you, maybe there is enough time to do the 2nd chu and get on there. Anyways M64: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=7C51CC7001A6C792 Save: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=21D185DF79EFF5BF Save from beginning of Jabu: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=A0924F455CC4D9A8 EDIT: You can also slice the bomb and make it explode which is much easier.
Sorry for going off topic, but can you rar, gtar, gzip, or zip your m64 movie file? It's about 2.37MB unzipped, and when I zipped it I got it to 20KB! That's probably the best compression I've seen in a long while. Thanks!

I have encountered the same problem as several other posters - Link gets the Kokiri Sword and then it gets all wonky from there. And yes, I did check the Raw Data in the Input Settings screen. Does having a different video plugin file affect whether it's in sync or not? Right now I have g|N64 v0.4.1 as the video plugin, but mwl says that you need the Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6 plugin (where can you get that plugin anyway??) I know the video plugin probably doesn't even affect the desync problems, but... just thought to ask.
It's the plugin that matters most! The duration of pausing is different for each plugin. It's causing the Kokiri Sword desynch. I'm not sure what's causing the owl desynch, but I just played the new m64 file from the save-state. Hopefully we get this stuff sorted out.

What are you talking about? There is a YouTube movie about this?
I can't find the video at the moment. It's hard to explain too :(. About walking back... Hm, it seems like we've hit a dead end? Is there any way to glitch into the gate? Acute angles? dammage boost by stalchild? You could play around and fight the big stalchild worst case scenario.

Very nice progress through the spirit temple. The movie desynched at the owl, but it seems that your goal in this WIP was to get past the iron knuckle, so it's a minor problem :). 1 critique. I thought that there was a faster block pulling method. You keep on un-ztargeting something, but I could be wrong. I think FLM demonstrated it. I'll let a more experienced player like AKA or Arcyte answer that question. Good iron knuckle fight, he couldn't touch you!

Warning: very wordy. I haven't found any uses in SMW for !Yoshi, and I have looked at every level. It is still nifty to know how it works. Perhaps if anyone ever tries a new SDW run there might be uses for this. If that didn't make sense let me know and I will try to explain it better. Also, !Yoshi can't be taken from one level to another, and he can't go through a pipe that brings you to a new area because then there is no original height in that area from which he spawned. Moving !Yoshi off of the Yoshi box gives you a new height that !Yoshi spawned from so you can get to different places and jump through different cielings/floors. It can sometimes be challenging to find !Yoshi because he is invisible. Just thought someone might like to know.
Whisky Tango Foxtrot !yoshi? If you were writing C code, that would mean false. if(!yoshi) { printf("WTF"); } I didn't understand a word of that. A picture with hidden words, coins, and stick figures doesn't help either. ;)

Im up to Iron Knuckle and just enough health to die upon the drop after I get the Gauntlets. What would be the fastest way to get him?
Jump slash followed by power crouch stabs. You may have to manipulate the iron knuckle's attack (is that even possible?) so that he doesn't hit you when you crough stab him.

He's alive!! I'm downloading right now! I will edit this post with my comments. :) Very nice run so far. I particularly liked the 100 coin star for SSL. Unfortunately I don't have any feedback, but that probably doesn't matter since you won't remake SSL again ;). Just a heads up, that you probably already know, but you can double damage boost up the laval waterfall in LLL. That may prove faster for something in the future.

Gah, the consistent music drove me insane!! Well, it was like that in the previous movie too ;), so I can't complain Voting yes, because there seems to a considerable improvement over the first one. I'm kind of disappointed that Mew never came up, which was one of the main selling points of the previous movie, but this movie is great too!

Ok, savestates for all! I was bored so I made several (the one DK64 provided won't work on this latest WIP because Guano redid that bit. As well as the owl B text-skipping goodness I see). These work for me, but I've no idea if they'll work for the rest of you. Let me know if they do. They're hosted on a fast server anyway so it's not too big a waste of time to try. In Link's house, just before gaining control Start of Deku Tree Just after the conversation with the owl in Hyrule Field Start of Haunted Wasteland
The first and last one work. It took me a while to figure out why my old one wasn't working. I'm taking it down now. Thanks a bunch. Looking good so far :).

It's faster than the previous run, so I'm voting no, based on that criterion alone. Adding in the sloppy gameplay, and the seizure inducing spinning and flying, my "no" vote becomes an emphatic "STFU N00B NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Problem is, some people just can't do it. I tried again to make my own this morning like 10 times to see if it worked better than yesterday and I ALWAYS got a desynch. Luckily there are always people kind enough to make one and give it to the others =)
What you do is: 1. Play the movie (make sure read-only is checked). 2. If you encounter a place you want to save, press shift and f1 (actually f1-f8 works) together. 3. The movie will continue to play. 4. Press f1, the movie should go back to the save state, and should not desynch.

He doesn't necessarily have to do it. Anybody who watches the movie can make corresponding savestates. In fact, it took me all of 5 minutes to get mine. I'll continue to provide them as corresponding WIPs get released, but do not rely on me. :)

SAVE/RESET, isnt that not possible for recording?
At the moment, no. So you'll just have to kill yourself, or work off a new save-state if you find yourself trapped. (The new save-state will start off at Link's house, temple of time, or a dungeon, depending on where you want to save/reset) Anyone else have any ideas??

Unless this is a real run, there's really no need to go back and correct this. Save your strength, and get to the good stuff :). Just keep a note of it for the future. But who am I to tell you what to do, it's your call :)

Nice segment up to Gerudo, Guano. I agree you should probably start distributing your save files with each WIP now (pretty please). As much as I love your deku tree and fishing, etc, I've seen it plenty (plus my computer can only fast forward so quickly because it is old)!
Ok, I got one, right before the cucko-grab in Gerudo Valley. Tell me if it works. Remember to open read only (on both the movie file, and the save-state) Here you go: https://webfiles.berkeley.edu/DK64_MASTER/shared/sv.st7

There is only one segment in a TAS. As it stands, dying to save time or grabbing another song to warp back past the game with are the only logical solutions that can be used since reset recording isn't registered at the moment. Also, have you actually tested that its faster to save+reset to skip past mido instead of testing both methods?
Since this is a test run, he can have each segement work off a new save-state, for the time being.

Its a tad slower but its better than side hopping then going backwards because you are walking diagonally(sorta). And also my only concern was getting to the water platform when I wanted to in the Deku Tree, only because the platform is timed.
Right, you are taking the shortest route, so it makes no sense to side-hop, and then backwalk. But that's why I suggested rolling? Rolling will not follow the shortest path exactly, but the path be better (still not the shortest distance, though) than side hopping and then balkwalking. Why am I suggesting this now, since you are time-limited by the platorm? Just suggesting something to keep in mind for other paths in other dungeons, but I'm sure you could have figured that out yourself :). Just curious, how long did it take you to produce this work? A few days of tedious work, or a few days of leisure? For a test run, it looks very polished!! I'm questioning now if you are going to turn this into a real run instead ;).

Well, it turns out that the reason for my input mixup was that I was using Jabo 1.5.2, instead of 1.6. Apparently the long subscreen pause is different lengths with different plugins. However, there is one problem with the 1.6. There IS a reason I was using 1.5.2. 1.6 makes my Zelda go screwy. Some textures don't appear, so water is indistinguishable from the land near in in Kokiri Forest, and the Deku Tree is really dark. But, I watched the run anyway, and I must say it was fabulous. Keep up the good work GuanoBowl.
I had the exact same problem. I'm sure others did too. Actually, I'm surprised, fast forwarding works a lot better in 1.6... It's all good. After watching the run, I love it. Most amazing to me was the way you killed the 3 deku scrubs in a row. That was unexpected. I was ready to fast-forward that part, but I'm glad I didn't. 1 bit of constructive criticism. When you backwalk, it seems that you get the best speed when you are facing exactly backwards. Many times while you were ascending the deku tree, you were walking backwards, diagonally. It looked slower, but I'm not sure it was. If it is indeed slower, it might be more advantageous to roll, or side-hop. I think the speeds go like this (in order of slowest fastest): walk, run, diagonal backwalk (looks like same speed as side-walking) , roll, sidehop, balkwalk. I could be wrong, and it doesn't make that big of a difference, since this is just a test run. Anyways, I can't reiterate enough that I'm loving the run so far. :) Gread job!
