Seriously, the previous pictures jimsfriend "improved" were in jest, but this is just plain awesome. I would have this as a screensaver on my pc if I were Angerfist.
Jimsfriend, maybe we should make an complement to tikishop: angerpimp? Pimpfist?
I started work as a digital design engineer. Basically I design, code, test, and verify the digital part of stuff that goes into someone's product.
I did a Bachelor's of Science at University of California, Berkeley in EECS (electrical engineer, computer science), so perhaps me and stickyman may share some interests.
Saturn, please stop saying that everything to Torizo is perfect.

Another frame is gained in that smv by not turning around before entering the OTES (the first visit), which allows me to jump one frame earlier. Of course this messes with the elevator, so I shoot in the OMBR to add lag to the door transition (real-time is what affects the elevators, not in-game time).
I'm also sure that there are still more frames to be gained.
Btw, here's a good timesaver in Red Brinstar: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1956540303/fall.smv
There's not a single, solitary trick in the history of video games that is as difficult as playing through the entire game in one sitting. You're comparing the ultimate test of endurance and improvisation to resetting until you get lucky. Give me a break.
What about a segmented 1 star run for Super Mario 64? It's practically impossible to have a decent single segment run that is 1 star for Super Mario 64, which puts the tricks that are attempted in the segmented run in a different category than a single segment run.
Also, you can apply the "reset until you're lucky" strategy to a single segment run too.
Edit:
Another example: andrewg's super mario bros run is crazy. However, there has been evidence that you can do the bullet-bill flagpole skip with around 1/100 odds accuracy. Let's use the Super Mario All Stars version of the game, which allows segmenting (saving after each world/level).
I would say that a segmented run showing off the flag-pole skip, or bullet bill flagpole skip is quite a bit more impressive than a single segment run with a puny walljump.
I found out this neat trick just a moment ago from another tech forum.
If you add "&fmt=18" to the end of youtube video, you apparently can view a higher quality version of it.
Edit: Apparently there are a plethora of options to choose from:

Getting repetitive, but enough for me to vote yes.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I would really like to see a 16 star run with this level of optimization. Drawing boundaries on what glitches not to use might be a bit tough.
<Comicalflop> ferret: no, it's over saturn acting like an asshole again and telling us what we're supposed to think is entertaining
<Comicalflop> well, fine, they can be pissed off at me. whatever
<DK64_MASTER> Comicalflop, and how has that been different
<DK64_MASTER> he's been doing this for the past year or so
<Comicalflop> because he gets on my nerves all the time and I just want to snap his nexk
<Comicalflop> *neck
Once again, I feel that one should be required to post a reason behind their vote, or at least reveal which votes belong to whom. Then again, the purpose of voting is to help the encoders, not to appease the author(s).
Hey, could I do one where SMB3 plays in 2-player mode, and just suicides with Mario then runs through the game with Luigi? With SMB3 using player-2 input, the run would be way faster, but I'm not sure if it would be acceptable.
That's ruining the spirit of a quad-game tas. So you STILL haven't started this run? Each day you wait, the quad-paradigm loses more and more luster.
I don't see anything in this discussion that suggests to do so.
From the first post:
adelikat: Verdict: This is accepted and will obsolete the NES Adventure Island. The precedent in regards to cross platform remakes is that the original is preferred. In addition, Wonderboy seems somewhat better suited for TASing.
Bisqwit: Processing. With adelikat.
