wow. this movie was so fast it gave me a headache and made me feel sick (i suffer a bit from motion sickness on some occasions) all those rerecords were worth it. i'm sure someone could shave 1 second or so off but i REALLY doubt anyone would spend the time and effort just to improve that little. damn damn good run. watch it.

doom 3 is'nt a remake of doom 1. personaly i like to think of it as non offical sequal to doom 2. i say this because there comes a time in the game where you walk through a lab where you see all the remains of "old monsters that came through the teleporters during the previous tests" this alone tells me that it follows the normal doom story line, as you see revanents and arch-viles in staisus chambers. neither of these monsters were in doom 1, only in doom 2. i think what they tryed to do with doom 3 is retell both doom 1 and 2 together and add a damn good storyline to it. as for a speed run, i doubt we will see one anytime soon. unless someone is willing to video themselves do this, doom 3 is VERY unfriendly for any screen capturing tool. anyway, so far i am at 26+ hours of playing on medium difficulty and i hav'nt finished it yet. i think i'm close but i'm not sure. all up for someone who knows exactly what to do i'd say mabye around 3 - 4 hours to finish as there is a fair amount of back tracking. also as for the weapons not being the same as in doom 1, you obviously hav'nt played doom 1 in awhile. nearly EVERY single weapon is found in both dooms. chainsaw fists pistol shotgun chaingun rocket launcher plasma gun bfg 9000 (just bfg back in the doom 1 and 2 days) only diffrence is that there is a machine gun, grenades and a soul cube.

yup both these videos are amazing. any person or group who can take game music and turn it into real time music is very tallented. i used to have an mp3 of a band performing around 15 of the Mega Man 1 2 and 3 songs. i still would love to hear the intro music to Mega Man 3 played on piano or guitar. my fav MM song ever.

i tried a run of this game. 3 times in fact. i did quite well i think up until stage 2-2 (or whatever that city stage is called) where no matter how many times i rerecorded, i always got a desync. i couldnt help this at all no matter what i tried. if you have better luck i'd love to see a run. this game is quite long and has some rather funny bosses. (terminator and spider man anyone? lol) as far as i know there are'nt any glitches or bugs, but i do know a few tips that could be of help. 1.) using the fire ninjitsu at the boss levels (cant remember the name, its the one that has 5 or 6 moving fire bars) seems to do the most damage to them. 2.) on the 3-3 boss or whatever level the army base boss is,when it opens its shell to show its brain, you can jump in between the shell, and the brain getting in 2 or 3 heavy slashes with your POW upgraded sword. 3.) the diffrence between a powered up shuriken and normal one is a lot. try always to have a POW on along with a high supply of shurikens (you will need them bad in the 2nd last, and last level) i think 3 normal shurikens = 1 powered up one. 4.)on level 1-2 the bamboo traps that have tops that move up and down (hope you know what i mean) they cant be jumped without much time wasted waiting around for the top to come down. i actualy found this out on accedent. if you tap right or left really lightly so you fall down just beside the bamboo you wont get hurt. if you play around with the jump button you will find out how long you need to hold it to jump over without getting hurt. it looks like you will but you wont. 5.) on a few of the levels (cant remember all but i think one is in 3-2 which is the military airship and the other in 5-2 which is the junkyard factory) there are extra ninjitsu marks that you can collect. while some might be a little out of the way to get i do recommend getting these as it does make boss fights eaiser. then again with some skill you will be able to defeat the bosses without needing an extra ninjitsu. hope this helps

quite sad that some person took time to hack the site, post in next to every thread, post links to disgusting pics and reply to people simply as he did'nt like what we are doing. perhaps someone bisqwit turned down for a run attempt? lol

i remember this game having played it quite a bit. if my memory serves me correct (which it does'nt that often lol) there is a warp by jumping over the first tunnel, and then jumping on the first flower 4 times. this takes you somewhere.

IMO it would make a boring run. It's quite long and since you would be using the same character the whole time, it would get boring. I honestly don't see the point of fightning game time attacks. Besides, on the hardest difficulty combos are pretty much useless because of combo breakers. The computer lets you land like 4 hits max and then breaks it. The combos aren't that powerful, either.
i dont mean to sound to negative but the same could be said for any run. look at mega man x. all you do is run to the right and shoot. how boring is that. it all depends on how the author puts his work together which makes it stand out or not.

ok you did something in your run that i never asked about. how the hell did you equip spazar AND phazar (is that the correct name for it?) at the same time? i've never read a glitch about this at all and it kept me wondering what the hell you did exactly. and why does it just stay there for?

what about it? i think a run of this on medium to hard difficulty would look damn good. the combos are hard to do yet look sweet, cpu can be very challanging at times and of course, the ultra combos ^^. who could forget them. i tried to play this game normaly and i honestly wont be doing a run lol. i got my ass kicked hard at medium skill. however what i did manage to do was make small recordings of each characters ultra combo. if anyones interested i will post a link to them.

i happen to agree with part of what you said. when there is a run that is done without save states, slow downs or rerecords that beats the time of one that is made with, then there is a problem with the run. however i have never seen any type of record or time for this game and many others and still the same thing applys which i said above. and to accept no less than "absolute perfection" is fine, but when you pick apart someones run saying how bad the times are thats just you being an ass. again i loved this run and was fun to watch. i've already ripped this as an AVI and have no interest in updating it as i honestly dont care about a 1.356 second improvement.

Unfortunately, some people here just LOVE to complain and never congratulate or say someting encouraging. I liked the vid too.
this could never be more true. i find it rather discouraging that someone takes the time to make a (exellent) run at this game, or any other game and some of the time are only met with criticisim or comparisons to other apparant runs that people claim to have done years ago that were faster. thankfully this is'nt always the case and there is some great feedback, other times not so good.

i dont know why people seem to be dissapointed in this run. personaly i loved it. i remember playing this and getting my ass kicked every time by that dragon kicking guy. i could NEVER get passed him. for a first ever attempt at this game i think freak did a great job and bisqwit obviously agrees cuz its up on the page

time attacks on fighting games such as this should be done on the hardest difficulty, with the fastest way possible. when i say that however i mean the fastest way that LOOKS the best. watching someone do nothing by sweeps over and over would be horrible to watch. street fighter was always a slower paced fighting game compaired to other. now a no hit, all perfect time attack of mortal combat 2 (or 3) or killer instinct on the hardest difficult... THAT would be insane to watch. specialy if all fights ended with a fatality or a ultra combo

yes i do know that the tricks shown were not thought of by frenom. but that still does'nt take away from the fact that it was a good run.

ah yes my mistake. SDA. i had'nt opened the page in a very long time (good month) and only remembered that the shortest run was 30 something mins long. anyways, i finished watching it and was well worth an hour of my time :) hope to see more of your damn fine work. honestly i cant think of any 1 area or position that i could offer any tips or advice on. its all done so well. only part that had me confused for a sec was when you opened a door in norfair, went in and then went back out again and went through the door across the hall. i thought you had made a mistake but then when i saw you do a super jump it clicked heh. again fine work there.

ok so in gametime it is a 34 min run? ok as TDA has super metroid in 32 or so mins listed. i'm up to where you just defeated ridley and again fine fine work. it was always the hardest boss for me to kill when playing and you made it seem so effortless. nice work. deffiantly converting this run into an .avi file when i'm done watching it.

im still in the process of watching your run frenom and as usual, damn fine work. i'm only up to the bomb boss (fairly eairly into the run) and so far i'm amazed already. your climbing of the huge shaft (oh grow up lol) was without a doubt the best i've ever seen. looking foward to the rest of you run. 1 question, is this a 100% run? as 50+mins does seem a little long for a non 100% run

ah ok good point. i did'nt notice that. mabye this is true for the same senario in diffrent places. only problem i see is that getting the boss to punch/attack you could be rather annoying, as they do have a bit of a random factor with their attacks

i have to agree with boco on a few points. 1.)chill penguin can be killed a bit faster. try being up the top of part of the area for when he jumps up there for his blizzard attack 2.) spark mandril can be killed rather quickly with the right timing of chill penguins weapon (cant remember its name) may not freeze him, but it still connects with him 3.) places where you are required to lose an amount of energy before an event is triggered, perhaps try to be "inside" the boss at all times so the instant you can be hit, you do. 4.) boomer kawanger (spelling?) can be killed faster but can be very annoying due to wandering, slow torpedos and boomers phase move. try to make it so you are right next to where he spawns

ok how about something like this. "this is not an official record. this movie was created with various methods on an emulator. this run is simply for entertainment purposes only"

having played secret of mana, and secret of mana 2 over 20 times at least, i know how hard these games can be. yes i have over estimated these times, but any faster and you really just make the game harder on yourself. you may be able to get up to the last bosses in both SOM and SOM2 within 5 hours, but without the correct levels in spells and armor/weapons you will die very quickly. these games were never ment to be rushed through in 1 - 2 hours. not to mention the enemys in the later areas can kill you pretty fast. they have an unfair advatage of being able to queue up attacks, so they can hit you 5 times and you take all 5 hits 1 after the other, causing you to die in some cases when you never had a chance to even get up off the ground. also you must take the time to level your spells. just 1 level means the diffrence between 20 damage, and 150 damage on a boss. this is'nt much of a problem in SOM2 though as most bosses are quite beatable without any attack magic. SOM2 is more physical attack orientated in the battle system. but as i said if anyone can make a run of this game, any time under or between my very rough estimates is a fast time.

here is a "off the top of my head list of games that i never expect to see a time attack of as they are just simply to long for anyone to every attempt them" RPGs on the snes really took a very long time to finish. if the game was made by squaresoft you can be guaranted that its over 10 hours long. god bless them for such classic rpg games :) Secret of Mana- doable in around 10 - 20 hours if your lucky Seiken Densetsu 3 - AKA - Secret of Mana 2 - totaly insane for anyone to attempt this, just a rough estimate around 15 - 30 hours. yes its that long. its huge as anyone who as ever played this knows, and if you hav'nt GO DO IT NOW. 6 characters, 3 story lines, 3 endings, endless party combos and 1 hell of a fun game. Illusions of Gaia- AKA - Illusions of Time- again simply to big. mabye around 10 hours? prolly longer Chrono Trigger- i never got far in this game so i cant comment on how long it might take, however as it is beyond of the time of Secret of Mana, i would guess around 10 - 15 hours. Secret of Evermore - i cant remember if i ever finished this or not but i got pretty far, and had me stuck a good 5 days. as a rough guess i would have to say around 15 - 20 hours. those are just some of my fav rpgs, and unfortunatly some of the longest games i've ever played. even by todays standards. when every game that comes out recently can be finished in around 8 - 10 hours, even rpg games it is so refreshing to look back at these classics and think what great fun they were. the games in this list are just so big and require a LOT of time leveling with spells and such, it is really quite impossible IMO to do a run of them without breaking the video into a lot of smaller, 1 hour parts. in many of these games, mainly Secret of Mana 1, a single spell level can mean death for your party if you come up against a boss. if anyone wants to attempt any of these feel free by all means, if you finish it you deserve your run to be uploaded from the sheer length of these brilliant titles.[/b]
